I followed the below doc to build CS 4.5 Test environment. But after the
successful creation I tired to create Zone in Advance Network during the
setup Network setup I could not see the Public traffic icon.

Is this a bug or do i need anything missing on the configuration. I need to
validate the testing 4.2.1 to 4.5 upgrade.

Somehow we need to add this to documentation of common issues - so end 
users knows he needs to use newer version of tomcat.


This is not cloudstack related,  but more of a tomcat bug that was 
addressed post 6.0.38 with folks that have high latency or server takes 
a bit of time to respond.

is anybody of you aware of the GUI issues when connected to some i.e.
wireless with somewhat big latencies or it sometimes happen even on more
than good internet connection:

i.e:
1)
(A serious one, that we encounter pretty often):

Issue: I start new VM deloyment wizard, choose template etc at the


end


when I click the finish, when the job should be sent to MGMT server -
simply nothing happens - so ajax does't get executed at all, no litle
circle spinning etc - no logs in mgmt server, simply ajax doesn't get
executed...Same behaviour sometimes happen when I click on "Configure"
on
the VPC.

I confirmed behaviour in acs 4.3.0 and I'm still checking in 4.4.1.

OR

2)
(not a big issue, however very annoying):
I filter instances by some account/domain, then click on some instance
(view it's properties or whatever), than in the breadcrumb I click back


on


"instances", and instead of being show the page with all the filtered
instances, I get back to the home page of ACS...

So it doesn't really happens always, but randomly, with different


browsers,


clearing all cache etc...
The issue here is that nothing get's logged to MGMT log at all...

Please let me know if anybody get similar issues, or if this is
something
on my side...

How to Setup CS 4.5 Testing on VirtualBox

I followed the below doc to build CS 4.5 Test environment. But after the
successful creation I tired to create Zone in Advance Network during the
setup Network setup I could not see the Public traffic icon.

Is this a bug or do i need anything missing on the configuration. I need to
validate the testing 4.2.1 to 4.5 upgrade.

Hi all,

I’ve tested CloudStack 4.5 branch over the last 3-4 weeks and I think we’re at 
a very good stage now where all major regressions have been fixed and based my 
testing of KVM with local/shared storage and Abhi’s testing of Xen 6.2+6.5 with 
local/shared storage in both shared and isolated networks along with testing 
upgrade paths from 4.3.2 and 4.4.2, I think 4.5 is a golden branch now.

While I’m personally satisfied with 4.5 now though there are few known minor 
UI, logging and misc issues. I don’t have VMWare/Windows licenses, additional 
hardware and setup so was not able to test VMWare against 4.5.

Instead of just kicking yet another RC, I want to discuss in this thread any 
major blockers, issues or bugs that others are facing. If so, please share them 
here so we can try to fix them as soon as possible.

In case you’re yet to test or want to help testing latest 4.5 - you can use the 
following repos:

CentOS6 Repo:

Simulator based smoke tests are green:

Following was tested with KVM (Ubuntu 14.04LTS based) and works:

- Basic Zone with shared storage: vm lifecycle (start, stop, restart,
scaleup etc), snapshot, migration
- Basic Zone with local storage: vm lifecycle, snapshots, migration
(migration only when VM was shutdown in case of KVM but in case of Xen
tested that live migration works)
- Advance Zone with/without local storage: vm lifecycle, snapshots,
migration (migration only when VM was shutdown in case of KVM but in
case of Xen tested that live migration works), firewall rules,
portforwarding, etc.
- VPC in Advance Zone with/without local/shared storage: vm lifecycle,
sbtier management, port forwarding, snat etc.
- SAML testing with Fiede OpenIDP, OneLogin, PingIdentity work; with
Shibboleth based IdP improvements are needed as such IdPs have org
specific use-cases, attributes and security policies (docs updated:

Marcus and I are working on a fix for not being able to create VMs on KVM
due to kvmclock not being recognized by older versions of Libvirt.

I have most of the testing done. I should be done with the rest of it today
and can check this code in.

I don't think we have a ticket for this, so I'll go ahead and create one.

New in 4.5. Only 4.5 and above will expose an interface for developers to write 
authentication plugins, the SAML2 plugin should be considered experimental as 
it is yet to be seen in production usage with CloudStack.

AFAIR Daan asked if people wanted 4.4.3, there was not enough momentum and we 
already had 4.5 RC1 voting going on. But if we’ve other blocker wrt kvm etc 
let’s fix it in the meantime. Though I would not considered both of them as

The work around is:

Shutdown all management servers and usage servers. Remove the row that says 
version 4.4.3 from cloud.version table. Now upgrade management/usage servers to 
4.5.0 and start it. Since there is no difference in upgrade paths from 4.4.2 or 
4.4.3; the upgrade should theoretically work.

Regarding the UI bug, can you confirm if after you upgrade and remove the UI 
cache, such as  rm -fr /var/cache/cloudstack/management/work/*

And, then restart management server, do you still see the missing labels? I 
found that doing that on Debian fixed label related issues for me, so I 
committed the fix:

Thanks Rohit for the version tip, it worked.

Now I come with a "valid" -1. The SSVM won't run properly, does not mount the 
SS and cloud.log shows:
"ERROR [cloud.agent.AgentShell] (main:null) Unable to start agent: Resource 
class not found: com.cloud.storage.resource.PremiumSecondaryStorageResource due 
to: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: 
com.cloud.storage.resource.PremiumSecondaryStorageResource"

No other meaningful error appears elsewhere.

This looks like a JDK related issue. If this is KVM (looks like it); or 
otherwise just make sure that you’re using Java7 (jdk/jre 1.7). The fix would 
be to be install openjdk7 on all servers (management/usage and kvm hosts). 4.5 
SystemVMs already have openjdk7.

If this does not work, please open a ticket and share the logs along with 
environment info (OS, platform etc).

I'm on KVM indeed (Centos 6) with the latest successful 4.5 SSVM build. It 
already has openjdk 1.7.

Will try to open an issue this evening with some more info.

These are not big issues execpt the Algo listing. it's strang, it work for
a Guest network but not a VPC.

If you removed the cache and restart management server and cleared your browser 
cache, and now if you’re seeing any missing labels it’s a minor bug that needs 
to be fixed.

What all happened to the suggestion for using embedded tomcat or jetty to 
deliver a Java app vs the current delivery model?  Seems like that could take 
care of this problem.  Especially for platforms that are a bit behind at 
updating their tomcat version.
