Re: [VPC RVR] - Refactor for Redundant Virtual Router Implementation

2014-10-08 Thread Rohit Yadav
Thanks for sharing this Wilder.

About the related PRs, we’re still in code freeze wrt 4.5.0 but we’ve still not
cut the branch for it yet. Does it make sense to include pending PRs to master
which are passing tests and have been reviewed? If not, should we cut the 4.5
branch soon so these PRs and other work can be contributed to master branch?

Sorry about this, just saw David’s email from day before yesterday (that I
missed). Our stand is to wait for 4.4.1 before cutting 4.5 when this happens
we’ll merge reviewed PRs.

No worriesŠ

I think there won¹t be changes in the area we have touched. So, it won¹t
create conflicts whilst merging. I will add another diagram to the wiki

Code looks alright, do you need to handle case when one or both of data and
store is null? We should be able to apply it on master after Edison's and Min's
review.

Description

CLOUDSTACK-7633: fix "Provides" in most LSB headers

In init.d scripts, the LSB header may specify what kind of service is
provided by an init script. If spaces are used, this means the init
script is providing several boot facilities. We fix that by using an
hyphen.

This may be seen as a new feature? In which case, please discuss on dev ML and

Super nice to hear that! :)

We worked really hard to offer our best for now, although we know that
there are still things to be improved. But we will tackle each and any of them.

I will inform the team about it. :)

Thanks a lot for reviewing it.

Cheers,

2014-10-08 Thread Daan Hoogland
Pierre-Luc the warnings are just warnings. The stack trace points to
configuration not correctly being set to a reasonable default when absent.
I will have to look deeper into that. $dayjob+#live permitting it will take
me till after the weekend.

Unless we find a workaround I am going to consider this a blocker.

Updated and new Cloudstack templates

2014-10-08 Thread Nux!
Hello,

I've updated the existing CentOS templates and added some new ones - FreeBSD
and Ubuntu.
The Ubuntu template is actually their own cloud image with the cloudstack data
source defined in cloud-init and the password script added.
Let me know if you have any comments etc.

It adds extra validation capabilities to the jquery-validation plugin that we
are already using. At the moment none of them is used, but once this has been
committed I will quickly add validations for ipv4, ipv6, url fields for example.

It will be that easy:

ip_address_field: {
required: true,
ipv4: true //this will use the ipv4 validator defined in the
additional-methods lib
}

Cloudstack 4.5+ roadmap?

Hi folks,

I was wondering, is there a Cloudstack roadmap for version 4.5.0 and beyond?

Re: how to add new data table to DB

2014-10-08 Thread Kuang-Ching Wang
Thanks Mike, I added the table successfully.

And also thanks for the suggestion. I spent some time looking into what we
need - we need to store some topology/tenant mapping info specific to our
plugin for syncing purpose. Logically it really needs to be maintained in a
separate table. Similar practice has been adopted by some other
network-element plugins as well.

Thanks,
KC

Re: how to add new data table to DB

2014-10-08 Thread Nitin Mehta
I kind of agree with Mike. We shouldn¹t really be adding tables with
plugins. If there is a need to do so then its a limitation with our plugin
framework and should be enhanced accordingly.
It would good if you could specify your use case and why it can't be
fitted with existing schema.

Thanks,
-Nitin

devcloud4 advanced -- xenserver&/SSVM iptables/routes

2014-10-08 Thread Leo Simons
Hey Ian,

So, I upgraded my devcloud4 to latest and rebuilt all the things. For the
advanced profile, after bringing it all up, the tiny linux template wasn’t
becoming ready, sticking to status "No route to host”.

After a bunch of head-scratching and debugging, it turned out I had to run

 [vagrant@localhost ~]$ sudo /etc/init.d/iptables stop

on the xenserver to allow the secondary storage VM to go out and reach the
management server. With that out of the way, downloading the tiny linux VM
starts, but

 2014-10-08 17:22:45,307 DEBUG [cloud.agent.Agent]
(agentRequest-Handler-4:null) Seq 2-6307009803155669001:
 { Ans: , MgmtId: 4278190080, via: 2, Ver: v1, Flags: 10,
[{"com.cloud.agent.api.storage.DownloadAnswer”:
 {"jobId":"80b02ebf-db7f-4582-97a3-c38426be1fc5","downloadPct":0,

 "templatePhySicalSize":0,"checkSum":"046e134e642e6d344b34648223ba4bc1”,
 "result":true,"details":"No route to host","wait":0}}] }

and after that, furthermore, surprisingly,

 root@s-3-VM:~# /etc/init.d/iptables-persistent flush

that solved DNS lookups and pings but not yet http downloads. This reminded me
of what we have in our own CIT environment where we do some trickery to rewire
the SSVM after creation.

I’m confident I had all this working before, and I don’t recall this being
needed with devcloud4 before, but tonight I had to twiddle the routes:

 $ vagrant ssh xenserver
 [vagrant@localhost ~]$ sudo /sbin/ip route list
 10.0.2.0/24 dev xenbr0 proto kernel scope link src 10.0.2.15
 192.168.56.0/24 dev xenbr1 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.56.10
 169.254.0.0/16  dev xapi0   scope linksrc 169.254.0.1
 default via 10.0.2.2 dev xenbr0
 [vagrant@localhost ~]$ sudo ssh -i /root/.ssh/id_rsa.cloud root@169.254.2.27
-p 3922
 root@s-3-VM:~# ip route list
 default via 192.168.57.5 dev eth2
 8.8.8.8 via 192.168.56.5 dev eth1
 169.254.0.0/16 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 169.254.2.27
 192.168.56.0/24 dev eth1 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.56.107
 192.168.56.0/24 dev eth3 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.56.115
 192.168.57.0/24 dev eth2 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.57.100
 root@s-3-VM:~# ip route delete default dev eth2
 root@s-3-VM:~# ip route adddefault via 192.168.56.5 dev eth1

after that, template downloads work (you know, we should really not use
people.a.o for this……). So I’m happy with my setup again, but its obviously a
bit fiddly. I’m not entirely sure what your intentions are for this network
setup — did you look into this yet / did you find a way to do this stuff
without modifying the SSVM?

cheers,

Leo

Hey Leo,

> I’m confident I had all this working before, and I don’t recall this

Yes this is definitely new and I have not experienced it before.
There should be no need to touch the SSVM.

> default via 192.168.57.5 dev eth2

This should of given your machine internet access.

I've a feeling this might be related to some of your virtualbox interface
configurations. I will test just to be sure.

Re: devcloud4 advanced -- xenserver&/SSVM iptables/routes

2014-10-08 Thread Ian Duffy
Hi Leo,

Just checking this from master with the same version of marvin.

For whatever reason marvin doesn't seem to be setting the tags on the
network interfaces.

The following and deployDataCenter should be setting them:

"traffictypes": [
{
"xen": "GUEST",
"typ": "Guest"
},
{
"xen": "MGMT",
"typ": "Management"
},
{
"xen": "PUBLIC",
"typ": "Public"
}
],

Assuming possible marvin issue or a change on the API side of things since
i'm seeing the following in the logs:

INFO  [o.a.c.f.j.i.AsyncJobMonitor] (API-Job-Executor-2:ctx-7d1f3c4f job-2)

Downgrading the version of marvin doesn't fix the issue either. Based on
our API docs this should be correct:
http://cloudstack.apache.org/docs/api/apidocs-4.4/root_admin/addTrafficType.html
I set the values manually through the UI, destroyed the system vms, waited
for them to come up and had a system that had internet access.

The agent on the ssvm and console proxy failed to come up

root@s-4-VM:/usr/local/cloud/systemvm# ./ssvm-check.sh

Re: Cloudstack 4.5+ roadmap?

2014-10-08 Thread Rohit Yadav
A good place would be to search the design documents for 4.5.0 and beyond;

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/CLOUDSTACK/4.5+Design+Documents

Many of the design docs in above, such as docker as hypervisor and ovm3 support
haven’t made into master/4.5 (since we’re in code freeze now), so those will
come under 4.5+ roadmap.

Other than that there is a general effort to refactor code, fix tests, coverity
issues, introduciton of commit validation mechanisms (CI, Travis, Jenkins,
Github PR and possibly other reviewing tools in future) and make the codebase
more stable.

VM snapshots

1. Volumes of VM are migrated to other storage
2. Add and remove NIC to/from VM
3. Attach and Detach volume to VM
4. Scale up/down of VM(change service offering)
5. Volume snapshot which is not major use case in this scenario
6. Resize volume
7. Live migration of VM which involves storage migration
