GetHostStatsCommand on KVM/Libvirt inaccurate?

Watching the output of the GetHostStatsCommand shows that the CPU
utilization is almost always the same. This is because the
LibvirtComputingResource runs this script to calculate CPU Idle time:

idle=$(top -b -n 1|grep Cpu\(s\):|cut -d% -f4|cut -d, -f2);echo $idle

Then it subtracts that number from 100. Because top always returns the
average idle time since boot on its first run, this can lead to some rather
constant data. Was this an intended effect? Running top multiple times and
averaging the results but ignoring the first value will produce more
accurate data for the stats collector. For example:

top -b -n 5 -d 1 | grep Cpu

VMware SystemVM Kernel Panics

Hi All,

I'm trying to setup a vmware Lab inside vmware Fusion.

I have Cloudstack 4.3 running on my host machine.
I have a VM for MySQL and NFS.
I have a VM with Windows 2k8 for vCenter.
I have a VM for ESXi.

On booting up the SystemVM OVA it kernel panics with:

"Kernel Panic - not syncing: Out of memory and no killable processes" -

Any idea why this is happening? I've a feeling its something to do with
nested virtualization of x64, is there any x86 systemvms available for
vmware?

ACS 4.3 problem with starting virtual routers

Hello guys, 

could someone help me to solve the problem with virtual routers on ACS 4.3 
using Ubuntu 12.04 for both management and host servers. 

I've recenly upgraded from ACS 4.2.1 following the release notes. In the 
process of upgrading i've added new system vm template and following the 
upgrade i've restarted all virtual routers. The process went well so far as 
there we no errors. 

Next day i've noticed that I am no longer able to start new virtual routers or 
restart networks. I can successfully start existing virtual routers which are 
in the Stopped state, but can't start a new virtual router. For instance, the 
management server log shows the following when I am trying to restart an 
existing network:

I found that the findbugs problem in eclipse can be traced back to a
java version conflict. Similar to some cloudstack problems. Making
sure the eclipse.ini file contains a -vm  argument
fixes it. I don't think I have enough access to the jenkins machine to
figure out if this problem is the same.

@Hugo,Prasanna: Can you check that there is only java7 at the
slowbuild jenkins slave?

Citrix 6.2SP1 - snapshot error - unpause operation

Hello,

Is anyone using Citrix'a 6.2SP1 noticed a problem with blocking the VDI
during making snapshot'a?
VDI disk during snapshot is marked as paused and virtual machine can not
use it.

It looks like the process tapdisk (mapping VDI disk to the virtual machine)
was destroyed and at this point the system/hypervizor can not perform the
operation 'unpause'.
We reported the matter to the Citrix forum but topic is dead :-(

Testing
---

1. Successfully tested real time synchronization as soon as resources are 
created/deleted/modified in one region.
2. Successfully tested full scans to synchronize resources that were missed 
during real time synchronization because of any reasons like network connection 
issues.
3. The tests were done manually and also automatically by randomly generating 
changes each region.

@ActionEvent generation doesn't work when method is called within the same manager context

While working on the fix for  CLOUDSTACK-6595, I’ve noticed that the methods 
annotated with @ActionEvents sometimes don’t generate the events. It happens 
when the annotated method is called within the same manager. When its called 
from another manager, the event is generated and inserted to cloud.events 
table. Kelven said its related to the Spring changes done by Darren.

Can you please take a look at it? Kelven, I’ve reassigned CLOUDSTACK-6595 to 
you (fix has to be submitted to 4.4-forward first, then cherry-picked to 4.4)

Hi Rayees,

As of now, "juniper-contrail-api:jar" is not placed in maven central 
repository. It must be downloaded from the repository  
"http://juniper.github.io/contrail-maven/releases";.
I assume that you tried to download it from the same repo as a 3rd party JAR 
and placed into your local repository.

Can you please list out the commands used for installing this 3rd JAR file?

I tried to configure this, but hitting issues with Juniper-Contrail and

While building “plugins/network-elements/juniper-contrail” , maven unable to

Don't have a instance handy but here's what I used to do:

You'll have to manually add a 3rd party repo for each of the jars not
available in central and upload the JAR and the corresponding POM into
Nexus. The nexus setup in Fremont lab should have one of the 3rd party
jars added this way for reference.
