I see it is set to 2. But does this change the limit?
I am following some threads about discussion on over-provisioning, but
still not sure exactly how it will affect it in this case.

Hi Gaurav,

Before registering a template, CS checks for template size by making HTTP call 
to get the size from remote location using getRemoteSize method. If the 
secondary storage count (including this new template) is within limits then CS 
will register this template and start the download process. In some case, these 
templates are zipped and CS gets this zipped size using HTTP call, but once 
templates get downloaded, CS extract this template and installs it, which 
results in increase in size of this template; then CS checks the difference in 
size(the one from HTTP call and this one after extraction) and updates the 
secondary storage count correspondingly. If this size difference exceeds the 
sec storage limits, then CS generates an alert for root-admin (it won't delete 
this template in this case).

In the scenario you mentioned, it looks like a bug but I tested this scenario 
very well while implementing this feature. After registering two template of 
9GB each, can you check secondary storage count and sec storage limits in DB; 
and it would be great if you share the DB output as well.

Bug CLOUDSTACK-6448: VPC router won't be created when a private gateway is defined.

Hi,
We've hit a variation on an older (fixed) bug regarding VPC private gateways. 
The old case which prevented a restart of the VPC router (cloudstack-4193) was 
fixed; but this time, we could not spin up a virtual router when the VPC router 
was destroyed, unless the private gateway was removed from the VPC config.

The use case why we need to destroy the VPC router: we need to move the 
routerVM away from the cluster it is running on, since the cluster will be 
decomissioned. RouterVM's can't be migrated to other clusters, thus need to be 
destroyed to have them created on a new cluster.
This issue prevents a smooth travelling of VPC routers from old to new clusters.

The following test scenarios are also added based on the new changes:
- Deploy VM failure and retry logic due to volume creation failure.
- Deploy VM failure and retry logic due to failure in starting VM.
- User VM HA (host failure is simulated and CS moves HA enabled VM on another 
host)

Try out these tests and let me know if there are any issues. Also running them 
will help in understanding the simulator changes. Please leverage these changes 
to add more test scenarios which wasn't possible earlier using simulator.

Mike - since your SSVM is running on XS please remove the tags from the
host as Sadhu says and then reconnect the host. You should see in the logs
that new systemvm.iso gets copied to the host.

No, that does not work for me. Prachi mentioned a workaround for that. It may 
be caused by the empty db.properties file in framework/db/test folder. When I 
put the right db.properties file in framework/db/test/resources folder, it 
built successfully. I don't know the exact reason why this caused the problem 
though. Same structure in 4.4 works for me on the machine.

AIX and CloudStack? no - i'm not crazy - just curious....

The mysql driver is not available for CS, that is the trouble. Please check
that the mysql jar files are in classpath.

Live migration failed to newly provisioned KVM host

Dear all,

I am using CloudStack 4.2.0 and KVM hypervisor. I just provisioned a new
KVM host and I am able to add the host into the zone/cluster, it's up and
routing. This new host is using a different (newer) type of server, but
using the same type of CPUs as per CloudStack's requirements on KVM hosts.

However, when I tried to live migrate a VM from an existing host to the new
host, the migration failed with below error messages:

 This script is very old it really needs some improvement, thanks for the 
patch. Here are some my thoughts:
 
 1. instead of calling socket.gethostbyname, can we handle the case where the 
machine has multiple nics? the ip will be used as node ip in multiple 
management server nodes environment, it would be nice to have an option that 
admin can specify the ip, if they don't, by default the script should 
automatically find ip of nic for default route. Yes the old code doesn't handle 
this, as you are improving it we should take this chance to make it further.
 2. I see there are some new options, but it seems they are not used in code?

have anything extra enabled in the agent (eg a specific CPU type vs the 
generic KVM cpu)?

Yes, it looks as though the two machines are running different
versions of qemu/libvirt, as the destination doesn't support the
machine type that the VM has defined in it's XML on the source host.

---

CloudStack at first use downloads some 3.5 MB of css and javascript to the 
client. With a weak internet connection, this might take a long time. With gzip 
compression content can be compressed to 850 KB.

This version of the patch uses a custom plugin to compress static resources, so 
that no dynamic compression is needed at runtime. When the static resource 
servlet notices that there is gzipped version of the resource and the client 
accepts gzipped content, then it is going to send the gziped version, while 
still respects http caching.

but I'd sugest running findbugs against those files and triage those.
Or revert the commits one by one to see which one contains the
culprit. That will take all weekend though. It is not called slowbuid
for nothing.

Anton,

I did some more investigation, and get the impression that this is
related to the bug we encountered during upgrade where the private
gateway network is associated to the vpc hence creating a nic on the
vpc router that has gets the adress of the gateway. If we entered a
bug for that yet, we should associate it with this one.

@Alena, I will enter a small review request for what I think is a fix.

checked in a fix to master. Let's see next slow build to see if that fixes

Any thoughts on why I might be seeing this exception?:

ctx-d84eba7f) Failed to add VMware DC to zone due to : HTTP transport
error: java.net.NoRouteToHostException: No route to host

I've never had a problem performing this action before.

This was user error.

I was using DHCP for vCenter and its address changed from 192.168.129.7 to
192.168.129.17.

Just an FYI, I usually have a hard time finding this doc, but here are
some guidelines for commits. The big thing here is that if you include
the Jira bug id in the commit it will publish the commit to the ticket
automatically.
