[HELP] query w.r.t to cloudstack-1047

2013-12-05 Thread Saurav Lahiri
Hi Sanjay,
I was looking at the changes that were done as part of [cloudstack-1047 -
tracking in logs using job id ]. From the defect history it appears that
the change corresponded to
setting job-=[].

Currently the changes dont appear to be there in the master in
the
./framework/jobs/src/org/apache/cloudstack/framework/jobs/impl/AsyncJobManagerImpl.java
file. Could you please let me know what I am missing here. This is to help
me in identifying the best approach to fix cloudstack-3471.

Thanks in advance.

Saurav

While in a perfect world we wouldn't have any schema changes two
things jump out at me in this case.

1. We have precedent in doing schema changes in bugfix (both 4.0.1 and
4.1.1 had some schema changes)
2. We already have some schema changes in 4.2.1 (admittedly, just a
change in a view, but still a schema change)

Review request for cloudstack, Girish Shilamkar and SrikanteswaraRao Talluri.

Bugs: CLOUDSTACK-5381
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CLOUDSTACK-5381

Repository: cloudstack-git

Description
---

Following test cases failed with "Vm display name should match the given name"
test_01_custom_hostname_instancename_false
test_02_custom_hostname_instancename_false

It was comparing vm id with the vm name, instead it should compare the display
name with the passed value. Later on, as written in description it checks
whether the internal name does not include display name.

Also, removing duplicate test case test_02_custom_hostname_instancename_false.

what kind of instance would you need? I might be able to help you out with a
Linux based server in our cloud?

Or if you have a fixed set of instructions to prepare a slave i’m happy to add
them to the template i use for the other builds from jenkins.buildacloud.org?

S3 Secondary Storage SSL certificate error

2013-12-05 Thread Andrei Mikhailovsky
Hello,

Does anyone know how to add a self signed ssl certificate which is used by the
S3 secondary storage to the trusted list? I am having an issue with java
exceptions stating that the certificate is not trusted. As a result, I am not
able to use the secondary storage.

Many thanks

Hi Hugo,

The agent code is C# based. So I was looking for a windows based server to
build it. Will it be possible to get one?

2013-12-05 Thread Wei ZHOU
Andrei,

What browser do you use? Try the following steps
(1) update SSL Certificate in Infrastructure tab.
(2) change secstorage.ssl.cert.domain in global setting
(3) restart management server

Updated the diff so it will patch on master. This can be applied to 4.3 as
well, though that would be the other patch I believe based on the state of that
branch. Should i submit a separate patch for that branch?

Yes, people on the jOOQ User Group have experienced this particular
integration to be very easy thanks to Spring TX's versatility.

Yes, that is true. We're working on better documentation and examples in
that area.

This is not what we have experienced. It is true that complete default
behaviours are desireable to decrease the initial learning curve.

But from our experience, things like transaction management are so complex
and uniquely tied to the target architecture that imposing a transaction
model would be a bad idea. Hibernate's session management for instance may
easily leak out from your data access layer into your business (or even UI)
logic.

>From what I've read on this thread, many people appreciate Apache
CloudStack's current transaction model, wanting to replace only the
querying. In that sense, jOOQ not imposing a transaction model could be
seen as a good thing.

Review request for cloudstack.

Changes
---

merged two commits into one

Repository: cloudstack-git

Description
---

When a host is switched to the 'maintenance mode', the vms in that host are
migrated to another available hosts. Currently, the vm migrations are executed
sequentially, it can take a lot of time when there are quite number of vms. So
I changed 'MigrateCommand' to get the value of 'executeInSequence' property
from the global setting value of 'execute.in.sequence.hypervisor.commands' so
that users can execute the migrations in parallel to save time.

Take a look at this: https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/x/6x-VAQ
Feature freeze for 4.4 is targeted for end of February. So, now would be
the ideal time to propose this feature to the community.
See https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/x/0h-VAQ for how to go about this.

Documentation Question

2013-12-05 Thread Mike Tutkowski
Hi,

It's been a while since I've needed to update documentation for
CloudStack's Admin and Installation Guides.

I know at some point there was talk of breaking documentation out into
another repo.

Can someone refresh my memory as to whether that new repo was created or if
we decided to keep documentation in the same place it was located for 4.2?

Thanks!

Changes
---

Added patch for 4.3

Bugs: CLOUDSTACK-5296
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CLOUDSTACK-5296

Repository: cloudstack-git

Description
---

This patch adds support for trust chains in the netscaler.

I initially planned on using the 10.1 API's "bundle" feature but during my
testing I found that was not working. So I am doing the chain linking myself.
Also NS can have only one entity of a certificate ie lets say two different
users try to add the same certificate on the netscaler only one of them will go
through. The other one says resouce already exists even though they have
different files.

This can be a problem in trust chains where the chain can be shared between
multiple accounts/certificates. So, I am using the figerprint as an identifier
of a certificate and making sure that we delete it only when no one references
it.

RE: S3 Secondary Storage SSL certificate error

2013-12-05 Thread Demetrius Tsitrelis
There is code in the DownloadManagerImpl.configure() method indicating that SSL
certs other than for realhostip.com are not supported. I have created a bug
for this: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CLOUDSTACK-5386

Andrei,

What browser do you use? Try the following steps
(1) update SSL Certificate in Infrastructure tab.
(2) change secstorage.ssl.cert.domain in global setting
(3) restart management server

About the implementation of RvR

2013-12-05 Thread Alex Ough
Hi Sheng,

I hope you're the right person for this, but if not, please let me know.

Currently I'm planning to work on the redundant routers in VPC
(CLOUDSTACK-764) because my company will need this feature in the near
future and you seem to have implemented the RvR in non-VPC networks.

I think it is appropriate to follow the same implementation with yours, so
can I get the review request information of this implementation so that I
can reference your implementation if possible?

Thanks.

Re: [Jenkins] slave for building hyperv agent

2013-12-05 Thread Hugo Trippaers
Hey devdeep,

I'll try. The trouble with windows boxes is that we need a license for it. I
need to check if my company is ok with assigning one to this machine.

Do you need any other software besides just plain windows server standard 2012?

Cheers,

Re: Request: Help designing a 'powered by' logo for CloudStack

2013-12-05 Thread Kirk Jantzer
Not to throw a wrench in things, but I got into work this morning and saw
my badge from the CloudStack conference in San Jose earlier this year. It's
the face of a monkey made up of a bunch of text from some CloudStack
documentation. I thought something to that effect with the words "powered",
"by", "apache", and "cloudstack" scattered (but obvious) throughout the
logo. What are everyone's thoughts on this?? I'm not asking to change
things, I'm just brainstorming here.

RE: Why is loginUrl parameter needed?

2013-12-05 Thread Jessica Wang
Demetrius,

> (3) Pass a "loginUrl" parameter to the login page which fills out the
> g_loginResponse data structure.

This is for an outside application(e.g. CloudPortal) to navigate into
CloudStack UI without prompting credentials dialog (i.e.signle-sign-on).

e.g.
http://:8080/client/api?loginUrl=command=login&username=XXX&domainid=NNN×tamp=YYY&signature=

To get the single sign-on secret key, you must retrieve it from the CloudStack
database under the configuration table for the key "security.singlesignon.key".
Copy this key to the outside application, then pass a login request from the
outside application to CloudStack as:

http://:8080/client/api?loginUrl=command=login&username=XXX&domainid=NNN×tamp=YYY&signature=

The four parameters(domainId, username, timestamp, and signature) are required.

The timestamp parameter is simply the current system time in milliseconds.
There is also a fault tolerance configurable value in the configuration table,
"security.singlesignon.tolerance.millis" that can be changed to suit your
preference.
If the timestamp passed in as part of the login request differs from CloudStack
Management Server time plus the fault tolerance time, the login request will
fail.

Subject: Why is loginUrl parameter needed?

In CloudStack, it seems that one can login via three methods:

(1) Connect to the API endpoint and use a login command with a user name and
password.

(2) Connect to the API endpoint and use a login command with a user name and a
signature based upon the "security.singlesignon.key" global setting.

(3) Pass a "loginUrl" parameter to the login page which fills out the
g_loginResponse data structure.

See $(document).ready() in cloud.core.callbacks.js in the ui/scripts directory.
It is that last option I am trying to understand. What is the use case for
this? Are there examples of this parameter?

Re: About the implementation of RvR

2013-12-05 Thread Sheng Yang
Sure!

Yes, I am the right person for VPC. :)

Redundant router for VPC would be a great improvement for CloudStack, I
just haven't got enough time to work on that.

I think the design would works mostly the same way, but there are things
become more tricky for VPC e.g. hot plug nics and un-consequences public
nics in the VPC VR(if multiple vlan is necessary). Many if not all scripts
in the VR need to be changed to follow VPC

I would very glad to help on RvR for VPC.

Thanks.

Subject: Documentation Question

Hi,

It's been a while since I've needed to update documentation for CloudStack's
Admin and Installation Guides.

I know at some point there was talk of breaking documentation out into another
repo.

Can someone refresh my memory as to whether that new repo was created or if we
decided to keep documentation in the same place it was located for 4.2?

Thanks!
