Deleting Primary Storage, where host was removed.

2013-11-29 Thread Girish Shilamkar
Hello,

In my test ACS setup I am stuck due to this problem
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CLOUDSTACK-4402
where I cannot delete primary storage, as the last host with which it was
associated was removed.
Is there a workaround for this issue ? Like deleting the entries from database.

Please advise.

Regards,
Girish

Yes, deleting from the database should be sufficient.

Every storage pool has a unique numeric ID in the database and volumes
which go with that.

I currently am not able to access a database with the information, but
when you browse around you should be able to find it.

Note: Make a backup before trying!

Re: [PROPOSAL] JIRA 4406: Remove cleanString() call for every API to improve performance - especially of the list APIs

2013-11-29 Thread Mandar Barve
Hi Daan,
I see your point in not bothering API implementers when it comes to
checking or setting the flag. (In my implementation I am proposing flag
check using base class ref and set in API child class. Flags and get/set
methods are members of the base class.)

If the base class has to do the check and set at load time as you suggest
here are some things to consider:

1. API command class is loaded by its name at run time.
2. At this time code doesn't know if the API command is carrying sensitive
data or not.
3. I did not find any annotation in the API command classes for return
types that indicate password/secret key that could be used as a simple
match string to help decide sensitivity of the class at load time, which
means class needs to be modified to set such flag perhaps in its
constructor or when it executes the command as suggested earlier. In a
nutshell API command class modification is needed.

I also agree with your second point that with introduction of another
member variable and expectation of it being set by the child class, if
there is a developer oversight purpose can get lost. I think by making a
base class wrapper method e.g. InformCommandSensitivity abstract we should
be able to enforce this at compile time. All API command classes will have
to implement this method leading to setting/resetting of the flag as needed.

Like you said I don't know the future security implications if any for such
code.

Considering all these I would like to go ahead with the approach I
suggested.

Thanks,
Mandar

Issue building Deb packages from source

2013-11-29 Thread Vosbury, David

 Original Message
Subject: Issue building Deb packages from source
From: "Vosbury, David"
To: d...@cloudsrack.apache.org
CC:

I'm not sure if this is a question for the users or the Dev list so I'm posting
to both.

I’m new to building CloudStack from source. I’m having some difficulty creating
my Deb packages. I’m trying to compile with the nonoss options. I’ve been going
through the documentation for building from source and I’m using the nonoss
option to get the vmware support. When following the build docs I get
successful compiles when running mvn clean install –Dnonoss and when doing mvn
–P deps –Dnonoss (although I do get a message at the end of the compile that it
couldn’t find the deps profile, but the compile shows successful). When I try
to compile to my deb packages I get an error message at the end and It also
doesn’t look like the nonoss modules build. It looks like a default oss build.
Here is the error messages I get back when trying to compile the debs. Please
help as I have an upcoming deadline to get this CloudStack install up and
running and this is really holding me up. It seems like maybe I need to change
something in the configuration for the deb build, but I’m not sure where to do
that. It also seems like the deb build is failing with the aws api module
build. Is there a way to remove that from the build if that is the issue? I
don’t need aws support at this time. Is there an option I need to add when
doing the deb build to get the nonoss modules to build? Anyway, here’s the
error message.

Can you try replacing -Dnonoss with -Dnoredist

Thanks,

I'm not sure if this is a question for the users or the Dev list so I'm posting
to both.

I'm new to building CloudStack from source. I'm having some difficulty creating
my Deb packages. I'm trying to compile with the nonoss options. I've been going
through the documentation for building from source and I'm using the nonoss
option to get the vmware support. When following the build docs I get
successful compiles when running mvn clean install -Dnonoss and when doing mvn
-P deps -Dnonoss (although I do get a message at the end of the compile that it
couldn't find the deps profile, but the compile shows successful). When I try
to compile to my deb packages I get an error message at the end and It also
doesn't look like the nonoss modules build. It looks like a default oss build.
Here is the error messages I get back when trying to compile the debs. Please
help as I have an upcoming deadline to get this CloudStack install up and
running and this is really holding me up. It seems like maybe I need to change
something in the configuration for the deb build, but I'm not sure where to do
that. It also seems like the deb build is failing with the aws api module
build. Is there a way to remove that from the build if that is the issue? I
don't need aws support at this time. Is there an option I need to add when
doing the deb build to get the nonoss modules to build? Anyway, here's the
error message.

This is because the incorrect .jar file or .pom file is missing in the
maven repository, I think.

Cloudstack local storage

2013-11-29 Thread Antonio Petrocelli

Hello,

we want use cloudstack 4.2 with local storage + VMware 5.1.

https://cloudstack.apache.org/docs/en-US/Apache_CloudStack/4.2.0/html/Admin_Guide/about-primary-storage.html

On this webpage it said:

"If you intend to use only local disk for your installation, you can
skip to Add Secondary Storage."

If we skip secondary storage setup during adding a zone, our log file is
full of following messages:

2013-11-29 12:52:49,509 DEBUG
[storage.secondary.SecondaryStorageManagerImpl] (secstorage-1:null)
System vm template is not ready at data center 2, wait until it is ready
to launch secondary storage vm

2013-11-29 12:52:49,509 DEBUG
[storage.secondary.SecondaryStorageManagerImpl] (secstorage-1:null) Zone
2 is not ready to launch secondary storage VM yet

2013-11-29 12:52:49,654 DEBUG
[cloud.consoleproxy.ConsoleProxyManagerImpl] (consoleproxy-1:null)
System vm template is not ready at data center 2, wait until it is ready
to launch console proxy vm

2013-11-29 12:52:49,654 DEBUG
[cloud.consoleproxy.ConsoleProxyManagerImpl] (consoleproxy-1:null) Zone
2 is not ready to launch console proxy yet

Also there are no system vm or router vm on cloudstack after hours that
we created zones.

Web Error during upload template file: Unable to find image store to
download template null

No error in log.

Thanks.

Best Regards.

dev ms not starting ui

2013-11-29 Thread Daan Hoogland
H,

kind of an embarrassing question: I have a master build, on macosx
10.9, a clean db, and devcloud. I have build, installed and deployed
db without any problems. When I start jetty:run everything loads
without ERROR. There is an exception logged about keytool stating it
will use a fail-safe keystore. and later 2013-11-29 13:45:26,699 WARN
[c.c.u.s.Script] (main:null) Unable to find script vms/systemvm.iso

next everything loads untill 2013-11-29 13:45:43,286 WARN
[c.c.c.ConfigurationManagerImpl] (main:null) Management network CIDR
is not configured originally. Set it default to 192.168..0/24

I would expect this to be 192,168,56,0/24 not my very secure/obscure
home network.

then
2013-11-29 13:45:46,108 WARN [o.a.c.alerts]

but nothing is up as far as the ui is concerned. This would have given
me a MS console on http://localhost:8080/client two days ago. It
doesn't anymore and i have been looking since.

I am now busy creating a clean environment again to see if i am
strugling against some kind of leftover but this could be considered
insanity.

Is there anything I am missing as far as anyone can tell?

Daan

Re: Cloudstack local storage

2013-11-29 Thread Koushik Das
For using system VMs on local storage there is a global setting
system.vm.use.local.storage which needs to be set to true.

[Koushik] You mean skip primary storage setup. Right? The local storage
associated with each host is shown as a primary storage and so you don't need
to explicitly setup one based on shared storage. You still need to setup
secondary storage.

RE: Issue building Deb packages from source

2013-11-29 Thread Vosbury, David

The jar files are in the maven repository. If they are corrupted where would I
get replacements? Or is there some environment variable for maven that I have
set so that it can find these jars?

For using system VMs on local storage there is a global setting
system.vm.use.local.storage which needs to be set to true.

Hello,

we want use cloudstack 4.2 with local storage + VMware 5.1.

https://cloudstack.apache.org/docs/en-US/Apache_CloudStack/4.2.0/html/Admin_Guide/about-primary-storage.html

On this webpage it said:

"If you intend to use only local disk for your installation, you can skip to Add
Secondary Storage."

If we skip secondary storage setup during adding a zone, our log file is full
of following messages:

[Koushik] You mean skip primary storage setup. Right? The local storage
associated with each host is shown as a primary storage and so you don't need
to explicitly setup one based on shared storage. You still need to setup
secondary storage.

(secstorage-1:null) System vm template is not ready at data center 2, wait
until it is ready to launch secondary storage vm

2013-11-29 12:52:49,509 DEBUG [storage.secondary.SecondaryStorageManagerImpl]

2013-11-29 12:52:49,654 DEBUG [cloud.consoleproxy.ConsoleProxyManagerImpl]
(consoleproxy-1:null) Zone 2 is not ready to launch console proxy yet

Also there are no system vm or router vm on cloudstack after hours that we
created zones.

Web Error during upload template file: Unable to find image store to download
template null

No error in log.

Thanks.

Best Regards.

Adding vmware support to my cloudstack install

2013-11-29 Thread Vosbury, David
I have an oss CloudStack install that I installed using a repo (installed using
apt-get). I want to add the vmware support so I can use CloudStack with my
vsphere cluster. Is there a way to do this without doing a complete reinstall?
I've read that you have compile with the SDK for VMWare which I've tried with
some limited success. I can get the compile to work, but when I try to compile
to a deb package it fails on the AWS SDK compile. I haven't found a way around
this yet. I'd like to just add the vmware support to my existing install if
possible. Does anyone know how to do this?
