Status in cheese package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: First of all it was almost impossible for me to install 12.04 beta, because the installation window always crashed when it came to the place where you take a photo of your self or choose a login picture. I had to download Kamerka (nothing else worked like cheese and some other) which kept ma camera busy so i could proceed whith the install. Cheese still doesnt work... I develop video recognition with OpenCV software so a camere is pretty important for me. I also have a Logitech C210 usb webcam which after the update streams only ~160x110p video. My built in laptop camera is Syntek Sonix 1.3MPixel USB 1.0 Camera which is having trouble with linux since ever(if the colors are ok, then the image is upside-down) now its come to just crashes. Oh, by the way my laptop is Asus F3 sereis. F3sr to be exact. I upgraded my bios, here is the output: vid@G550:~$ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date [sudo] password for vid: G550JK.205 09/26/2014 It didn't solve the problem, so I guess this isnt due to outdated BIOS? What solves my problem is adding 'acpi_osi=' to '/etc/default/grub' as such: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_osi=" Can someone please explain what exactly is causing the problem and how adding 'acpi_osi=' solvse it. When I try to run Extensions app from the terminal I get a different error, although related to display.
