[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1184451] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites
This has been the case for me since 12.04 LTS, when ever the a sound is playing and the volume is up on 100% past the unamplified setting it freezes most of the OS, but the instant that the volume is turned down there is a delay, Linux catches up and unfreezes everything. I have a feeling that Pulseaudio is knotting things up. I'm unsure where the issue lies but this does seem to be the case. I do hope that this does not happen with the Ubuntu Touch OS for mobiles cos I know a heap of people that crank the volume right up to the max. Linux 3.0 has always been an issue for my realtek audio, 5.1 no longer works as standard when compared to Linux 2.6 which was fluid. lspci shane@shane-Aspire-8930:~$ lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Memory Controller Hub (rev 07) 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset PCI Express Graphics Port (rev 07) 00:1a.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 (rev 03) 00:1a.1 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #5 (rev 03) 00:1a.7 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #2 (rev 03) 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 1 (rev 03) 00:1c.1 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 2 (rev 03) 00:1c.3 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 4 (rev 03) 00:1c.4 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 5 (rev 03) 00:1d.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 03) 00:1d.1 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 03) 00:1d.2 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 03) 00:1d.3 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #6 (rev 03) 00:1d.7 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #1 (rev 03) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev 93) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation ICH9M LPC Interface Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.2 SATA controller: Intel Corporation 82801IBM/IEM (ICH9M/ICH9M-E) 4 port SATA Controller [AHCI mode] (rev 03) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) SMBus Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.6 Signal processing controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) Thermal Subsystem (rev 03) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation G96M [GeForce 9600M GT] (rev a1) 02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Qualcomm Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 Gigabit or Fast Ethernet (rev b0) 05:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation WiFi Link 5100 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1184451 Title: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites Status in “xorg-server” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I have recently, re-installed fresh ubuntu 13.10 distribution release. Re: [Desktop-packages] [Bug 941219] Re: [Acer Aspire 8930G] Speaker Sound does not mute when Headphones are connected. Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. Missing Auto-Mute Mode in alsamixer.
What Raymond is getting at is there are 3 jacks on the lefthand side. One is for Headphones/Digital, Line In and Microphone. Either of these ports can be configured to whatever pulse audio want them to be. The HDMI digital sound comes from the NVIDIA soundchip built into the NVIDIA 9600M graphics card. Because there are 2 sound cards in the Aspire 8930 I think pulseaudio gets a little confused which one to auto-mute on startup. To enable disable auto-mute open up a terminal and type alsamixer it can be switched on/off there. For my Acer Aspire 8930G I have the pulseaudio output set to Stereo Duplex, everything seems to be working just fine with that setting. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1049612] Re: Libreoffice menu inconsistently does not appear
I to have the same issue. I have installed Ubuntu 12.10 beta 1 on 3 computers and get this issue. It only seems to work if libreoffice is opened and then a document is opened in to it. If multiple UI's are installed like Lubuntu desktop, the libreoffice menu does not appear at all. The only solution until this bug is fixed is to remove the the following: sudo apt-get remove libreoffice-gtk This will allow you to run libre office still, but it then looks like its running in windows xp mode which is kind of odd, but it functions very well and doesn't look to bad. I hope they sort this bug its blooming annoying. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1049612 Title: Libreoffice menu inconsistently does not appear Status in LibreOffice Productivity Suite: New Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Libre Offices's global menu does not appear randomly when opening the application.
