[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1391230] Re: [TOPBLOCKER] web audio, pulse runs at 6% and screen will not blank on idle

2015-02-04 Thread Nara Huang
I could also reproduce this issue with Mako, using Vivid r88
Pulseaudio version: 1:4.0-0ubuntu23

The pulseaudio is still holding 6% CPU usage even switch to other
application.

  * Impact: users can turn off bluetooth devices without being able to
  turn them back on

  * Test Case:
  - connect a bluetooth audio device (headset for example)
  - go to system settings -> sound (under Unity)
  - look at the profiles for the bluetooth device

  "off" shouldn't be listed

  * Regression potential:
limited, check that other profiles are listed are they should

  -

I've accidentally changed the operation mode of my Bluetooth phone
from A2DP to Off, then the device is removed from the list.

Instead, it should be marked as disabled, and kept on list, so I could
reactivate it later.
To reactivate, I needed to install tdbtools, open tdb file that store this
settings (pulseaudio), then remove my device from records. After that, the
device was listed again on Sound Settings as A2DP sound output.

The issue is similar as below .
  https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=675778
  https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=821422

== Request to backport to 12.04 LTS ==

  [Impact]

   * Airplane mode goal is to switch off every radio signal that can conflict
with the airplane functioning.
   * In gnome-control-center 3.4, only the Wifi is switched off, making the
feature almost useless
   * 12.04 LTS is an LTS, and it is currently used for pre-installed Ubuntu
projects, so this is currently affecting everyone buying a pre-installed Ubuntu
system or running the latest LTS

  [Test Case]

  Steps to reproduce:

   * Switch on both wireless and bluetooth
   * Enable "Airplane Mode" under System Settings -> Network

  Expected behaviour:

   * Both the wi-fi and bluetooth are switched off

  Actual behaviour:

   * Only Wi-fi is switch off. The user can still use bluetooth devices

  [Regression Potential]

This adds a new backend for airplane mode. Give it a good work out to
check that everything is disabled and enabled when it should be.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1037763] Re: [Asus X101CH, Internal speaker] No sound after update (Ubuntu preinstall)

Title:
[Asus X101CH, Internal speaker] No sound after update (Ubuntu
  preinstall)

Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress

Bug description:
This is a new Asus EeePc with Ubuntu preinstalled. The sound works out
of the box, but after an initial update the internal speakers stop
working. Audio via the headphone jack still works. A factory reset of
the system (which reinstalls Ubuntu from a recovery partition)
restores the sound but the next update (of Linux kernel) breaks it
  again.

  Current workaround:

Installing the latest DKMS package according to
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingAlsa/DKMS should bring the sound back.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1032433] Re: Using WEP 128-bit Passphrase, Ad-hoc connection cannot be established

2012-09-07 Thread Nara Huang
Hi,
I can still reproduce this on 12.04.1
First I setup an Ad-hoc connection with WEP 128-bit Passphrase on Computer1,
and using another computer (ComputerU) as client to connect, but the connection
cannot be established, attached file is syslog on ComputerU (client).

And then I create new ad-hoc connection "test2" on computer1 using "WEP
40/128-bit Key(Hex or ASCII)", this time I can use ComputerU (client) to
establish an ad-hoc connection successfully.
Attached file is the syslog of this connection.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1642662] Re: SRU request: handle EGL alternatives and use different drivers for the LTS stacks

2016-11-24 Thread Nara Huang
Tested with proposed repository, system could boot to desktop

Test steps:

2. sudo apt update ; sudo apt upgrade -y
3. Reboot system
4. System could boot to desktop successfully, and:

Bug description:
  SRU Request:

  [Impact]
A recent security update of the nvidia driver provided new EGL libraries and
new kernel modules (such as nvidia-modeset and nvidia-drm), which are not
handled by the current gpu-manager (ubuntu-drivers-common) and nvidia-prime in
14.04. This problem is fixed in Xenial or newer.

ubuntu-drivers-common also does not distinguish between the different
LTS stacks, and this is a major problem on Intel+Nvidia hybrid
systems, as anything running stacks older than 14.04.5 will require
using the intel driver with SNA acceleration, whereas the rest should
use the modesetting driver. Boot parameters can also be passed to use
other driver combinations (for unsupported use cases).

  [Test Case]
  1) Enable the trusty-proposed repository, and install the
ubuntu-drivers-common and the nvidia-prime packages.

  2) Install the nvidia driver.

  3) Restart the system and see if it boots correctly. If unsure, please
  attach your /var/log/gpu-manager.log and /var/log/Xorg.0.log

  [Regression Potential]
Low, the above mentioned changes are already in Yakkety (and most of them
have been in Xenial since its release).
