The printer never printing again, not print test page too.
And restart the Ubuntu/PC did not help.

Title:
Empathy requires authorisation for Facebook repeatedly

Status in Chat app, and Telepathy user interface:
  New
Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I am running Ubuntu 13.04 since June. There seems to be a persistent problem
with Empathy and Ubuntu Online Accounts. On a clean installation of the OS, you
can authenticate your Facebook account normally. After about half a month, you
usually need to re-authorise your Online Accounts.
In the old Gnome Online Accounts, everything worked well. At the moment,
random authorisation requests emerge. Most of them are reset after a Computer
restart; in some cases, though, Empathy seems to stuck even after the User
performs an authorisation. The Plugin for the Unity Menu that displays posts
from the News Feed works fine, so does Shotwell. Only Empathy refuses to show
the Contact list and connect to Facebook.
To be more specific it displays this message: "Facebook account requires
authorisation". However, when you open the Online Accounts, there is no
relevant notice! I have tried removing and resetting the Account, I removed
Ubuntu app from Facebook, I reinstalled (apt-get purge, apt-get install)
Empathy, Facebook Account Plugin, Ubuntu Online Accounts and cleaned up all
data using Bleachbit! Even deleting the account doesn't fix the problem.
I noticed through Seahorse that every time you authorise an account, the
Authorisation Token Name changes (e.g. from "Ubuntu Online Account: id 3-1" to
"Ubuntu Online Account: id 4-1). What is more, there are two entries for
Facebook! One that contains my Password, and another one that what seems to be
a generated Key. Maybe Empathy mixes up the names, because the problem occurs
only after a re-authorisation.

I'm running Empathy 3.6.4 on Ubuntu 13.04 32bit. The problem occurs on
both 32bit and 64bit versions of Ubuntu. I did some research and found
out that Ubuntu Online Accounts and Empathy has been unstable for some
  time now.

It is not very easy to reproduce the issue, as it may take some time.
However, once it occurs, there seems to be no return. Simply use a
Facebook Account in UOA with 2-Step Verification enabled. Originally,
you will be able to connect normally, after entering your password and
generated code. After some time (usually right after 15 days, when a
re-authorisation is normally needed) you will not be able to access
Facebook Chat from Empathy with that account again, no matter how many
times you re-authorise it or even if you delete it and re-add it!

As I've seen on the Web, similar problems affect a significant number
of Users! Please, spend some time in fixing the UOA; its being so
annoying acts as a deterrent from Ubuntu... And this is a pity,
because - in my opinion - it is currently the best Linux Distribution
  out there.

  Thanks in Advance!!! :D

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1168139] Re: hostname: No protocol specified and Can't open display errors.

2013-09-20 Thread Bryan Fullerton
Thanks for taking the time to report this issue and make Ubuntu better.
To confirm, did you restart your machine after changing /etc/hostname
and /etc/hosts? Generally speaking changing the hostname without a
restart can cause the issues you're describing, because the previous
hostname is cached in the running applications (such as the graphical
display system).

This is fixed upstream in liferea v1.8.7 - see
http://sourceforge.net/p/liferea/bugs/836/.

Raring currently has liferea 1.8.10, so the fix will is available there,
but I'm not sure if or when it would be backported, especially since the
main driver for this fix (Google Reader) is being shut down.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 889514] Re: ctrl-space doesn't work for opening in browser

2013-03-14 Thread Bryan Fullerton
Based on my research of this, it seems the reason is because before
Oneiric the Gnome2 default of mapping ctrl-space to the "trigger" action
would catch the key before it got to Lifrea, resulting in the item being
triggered just as if it was double-clicked.

With the removal of Gnome by default in Oneiric the ctrl-space is
instead passed through to Liferea, and Liferea is handling it has been
designed for years -- skimming through unread items.

Unfortunately even upgrading to Gnome3 is not going to help with this,
because ibus in Gnome3 now traps ctrl-space for another function
(enable/disable input editor).

So, I think you are stuck with this behavior.

Moving this to the apport package, which is where ubuntu-bug lives, and

Bug description:
I'm experiencing a very annoying bug: I'm using Ubuntu 12.10 now on my
personal "file server" (the bug was present in 12.04, too):
This file server uses several disk partitions to store some Truecrypt
container files that span across almost the entire volume. So a few of my disk
partitions are in fact almost full. That's why Ubuntu/Unity shows a dialog for
each effected volume. I can confirm these dialogs, but the messages appear
again and again every ~2 minutes. There is an option to disable theses warnings
for the corresponding volume, but this setting has no effect.

Function of this setting is very important for me - I don't need these
warnings, because I don't store any additional files on these volumes.
And because the warnings come so often and because there are several
warnings at a time, I cannot use Ubuntu at all, because I'm busy
closing these warnings most of the time...

Steps to reproduce: from the Firefox menu

  What happens:nothing.

What should happen:the Firefox profile folder located in the default

Bug description:
  Dear Ubuntu,

I just install a new ubuntu desktop 12.10 64bit from ISO image, but
the DSL can not connect automatically when the computer start up.

There is only one interface eth0 on my computer, and this interface
connected to DSL device directly with PPPOE(need username and
password). I open the "Network Connection", and found there is one
interface named "Auto Ethernet" under the tab Wired, and another
interface named "DSL connection 1" under the tab DSL.

I had already config the DSL correctly, and check the "Connect
automatically" on this DSL connection settings, and also connect
successfully when I manually connect it.

But the DSL can not connect automatically when my computer restart, I
notice the Networking is always searching and tring the Wired network
interface(eth0 - Auto Ethernet), and after failure it will retry the
Wired again, just do not try to connect the DSL interface.

When I disable the Networking and re-enable the Networking, it will
try to connect the DSL interface and will connect successfully.

I had also try to disable the Auto Ethernet's "Connect automatically",
and disable IPv4/IPv6 Settings, even try to delete the Auto Ethernet,
  but nothing help.

In this same computer, I am before using the Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64bit,
there is not this problem, DSL can connect successfull every time when
  the computer start.

  Please help.

  Thanks very much.

2013-05-09 Thread Bryan Fullerton
Thanks for taking the time to report this issue and make Ubuntu better.

What error is shown in Firefox if you wait when it hangs? Also, do you
have any extensions please disable them and confirm if that helps.

Title:
Facebook does not respond in Chrome or Firefox in Ubuntu

Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Hi,

I'm using Ubuntu 13.04 and since I've updated it, the Facebook page
seems to not respond in any browser I'm using (Firefox or Chromile).
On my other computers this problem does not happen. The symptom is
that whenever I try to access, log or click in some link that takes me
to Facebook, the browser try to load it and hangs.

I tried to clear the browser cache and that makes the login page from
Facebook opens, I do login and then the page loads. It works fine
untill I click any link inside the page and so the page tries to load
  again and hang.

I've been googling it over the internet and in many other forums
people complain of the same behavior and no one have a clue in what to
  do.

I'll be very glad to hear that you are looking for a solution to this
issue, since I use Ubuntu as my main OS in my laptop and don't want to
  switch it back to Windows.

  Thank you,

  José Compadre Junior

Title:
Bug with viewing files with ls and nautilus on iPhone

Status in “gvfs” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 64bit as of 14/9-12 "latest" version.

Connected my iPhone to export/import music, pictures, video and
whatnot. Most things work swell, but accessing the directories to many
of the apps does not work well at all.

The phone is mounted in a .gvfs directory, phone is named "Raymonds
  Telegrafverk".

Plain attempt to ls the directory
  raymond@Bruno:~/.gvfs/Documents on Raymonds Telegrafverk$ ls no.vg.snarvei/
ls: reading directory no.vg.snarvei/: Invalid argument

Trying ls with the -d flag
  raymond@Bruno:~/.gvfs/Documents on Raymonds Telegrafverk$ ls -d no.vg.snarvei/
  no.vg.snarvei/
  raymond@Bruno:~/.gvfs/Documents on Raymonds Telegrafverk$

Going into the directory and trying more
  raymond@Bruno:~/.gvfs/Documents on Raymonds Telegrafverk$ cd no.vg.snarvei/
  raymond@Bruno:~/.gvfs/Documents on Raymonds Telegrafverk/no.vg.snarvei$ ls
ls: reading directory .: Invalid argument
raymond@Bruno:~/.gvfs/Documents on Raymonds Telegrafverk/no.vg.snarvei$ ls -al
ls: reading directory .: Invalid argument
  total 0
  raymond@Bruno:~/.gvfs/Documents on Raymonds Telegrafverk/no.vg.snarvei$

  Nautilus tells me this:
The folder contents could not be displayed.
Sorry, could not display all the contents of "Skype": Unhandled Apple File
Control error (7)

Now weirdest thing, I had problems with no.vg.e24.snarvei/ earlier, but now
all of a sudden it works.
As mentioned above, no.vg.snarvei/ is now the actual problem.
The word "snarvei" is norwegian for "shortctu", not that it matters.

  Here's a strace ls report
raymond@Bruno:~/.gvfs/Documents on Raymonds Telegrafverk$ strace ls
no.vg.e24.snarvei/
  execve("/bin/ls", ["ls", "no.vg.e24.snarvei/"], [/* 49 vars */]) = 0
