[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1072403] Re: [GeForce 8600M GT] Unity and GnomeShell hang or crash with nouveau kernel error messages "fail ttm_validate", "validate vram_list" and "validate: -12"
Hello! Someone on IRC reported me the bellow: The RAM fails when the machine comes back from suspend mode. The problem is that the user don't command the suspend; the computer goes to sleep alone after a few minutes without user action. The user is using Ubuntu 13.4 (installed yesterday). His VGA adapter: Intel Corporation C51 [GeForce Go 6150] (rev a2), in a notebook HP pavilion DV9000. I know that this bug report refers at GeForce 8600M GT, but the dmesg output is very similar. Certainly that user is dealing with a «crash with nouveau kernel error messages "fail ttm_validate", "validate vram_list" and "validate: -12" Edit». See http://paste.ubuntu.com/5848672/ for dmesg and lspci output please. I don't know if I would must to create a new bug report... Thank you for your attention. Alexandre Magno -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1072403 Title: [GeForce 8600M GT] Unity and GnomeShell hang or crash with nouveau kernel error messages "fail ttm_validate", "validate vram_list" and "validate: -12" Status in “xserver-xorg-video-nouveau” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Hi, since I reinstalled my Ubuntu (previous version was 11.04) my window managers have become very unstable. In the worst cases the whole system crashes and only SysRq keys are working. At other times I'm still able to reach the terminal via ctrl-alt-f1. Even if the system survived, the window manager often later on hangs and displays false colors and sometimes recovers. The log files automatically attached by apport should document the latter error symptom. I'd be happy to supply more information if you can give me hints how to gather them. Steps to reproduce: 1) Mount a samba share using Connect to Server... in the Places menu. 2) Tell the system to remember the credentials for the share. 3) Make a symlink from the home directory to a directory on the samba share so that the symlink points to ~/.gvfs/sharename on host/directory 4) Shut down the computer but not the samba server. 5) Reboot. 6) Double-click the symlink in Nautilus. Expected results: Expected Nautilus to use the share name and host baked into the ~/.gvfs path and the credentials saved to the keyring to remount the share and then open the directory pointed to by the symlink. Actual results: The symlink is treated as broken. Additional information: This is a feature parity bug compared to Mac OS X. In this list I see: + en_us + English / Verenigde Staten + en_uk + English / Verenigd Koninkrijk As you can see they both us-en and uk-en show up translated to my language (Dutch) and as an acronym. They seem to behave the same though. Perhaps this is an issue with translated dictionary names, perhaps this is just an issue of having differently named packages installed containing the same dictionaries. I'm not really sure where they get their dictionaries from. I had to install a dutch dictionary using an add-on: it was not installed by default, even though the rest of my desktop was translated to Dutch. But I'll post that as a seperate bug. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 875224] Re: nautilus shows the files with wrong calculated size
I propose to be created gconf configuration options. See: "http://askubuntu.com/questions/7882/can-the-nautilus-properties- page-show-size-in-bytes-for-multiple-selects-and-fo">Can the Nautilus Properties page show size in bytes for multiple-selects, and for directories?" -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/875224 Title: nautilus shows the files with wrong calculated size Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: i noticed that nautilus on Ubuntu 11.10 show all files with wrong calculated size for example when i have the ISO file of Ubuntu Server AMD64 , the real size is 682MB , but nautilus shows the file with 715MB , so i opened the properties and saw the bytes 715,436,032 bytes , so divide it on 1024 twice so you get the 682MB , so nautilus calculated wrong !!! and the same with all files ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: nautilus 1:3.2.0-0ubuntu5 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-12.20-generic 3.0.4 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-12-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sat Oct 15 20:40:46 2011 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric Ocelot" - Release amd64 (20111012) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_GB:en PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: nautilus UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/875224/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
