[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1857191] Re: Dark themes don't work well with highlighted current line in gedit

2020-12-26 Thread Lin Manfu
The solution in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtksourceview4/+bug/1887311
also works for me. Could this please be changed in Ubuntu?

Bug description:
In order to checkout out an old bug report I started gedit, enabled
"Highlight current line" and changed the application theme to "Yaru-
dark" The current line is highlighted correctly but the text is
unreadable because it is too light. The text needs to be much darker.

This is not a theme that I would normally use so I'm not too bothered
about how the problem is fixed but this configuration makes gedit very
difficult to use as you can't actually see the text that you're
  adding, changing or deleting.

  The latest kernel tree
  (https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git)
has the complete solution to fix this bug. So we can expect kernel
v5.11 to fix this issue without any additional work. Before the
release of v5.11, you are suggested to use #189 to save your touchpad.

The complete solution is three patches,
   - 47a0001436352c9853d72bf2071e85b316d688a2 ("pinctrl: amd: remove debounce
filter setting in IRQ type setting")
   - 06abe8291bc31839950f7d0362d9979edc88a666 ("pinctrl: amd: fix incorrect way
to disable debounce filter")
   - 8dcb7a15a585b6d0fee15751ce11d7a68cfedd56 ("gpiolib: acpi: Take into
account debounce settings")

The first two patches has reached the stable tree. If the last one is
also backported to LTS kernel, you won't need to install kernel 5.11.
But I don't know when this will happen.

  Original bug report
  ===

  Hello

The MSFT touchpad of this Lenovo Legion-5 15ARH05 laptop is not reacting at
all (pointer and click never move when touchpad is touched). This has been
reported by other users in various websites, with various linux systems
including other Ubuntu systems, but I saw no launchpad bug so I post one.
Example of websites covering the issue :

the same laptop)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1909347] [NEW] Keyboard layout used in the second place breaks keymap

2020-12-26 Thread iblue
Public bug reported:

It's hard to really summarize the issue here. If you use the Neo2 layout
somewhere, the keymap becomes garbled in a very specific way (see
below). I am not really sure if it affects other keyboard layouts or
what happens internally. I have selected gnome-control-center as the
affected package, because this is, where it all starts. There are two
issues, which are somehow connected.

Reproduction steps (first issue):

1. Open "Region & Language Settings" in gnome-control-center
2. In "Input Sources" use "German (no dead keys)" in the FIRST place and
"German (Neo 2)" in the second place (order matters!)
3. Open your favorite text editor
4. Use Super+Alt+Backspace to change to the Neo2 layout
5. Press and hold the Mod4 key (right of Left Shift) and 3.
6. You get a 3, expected would be №.

Reproduction steps (second issue):

1. Go back to the "Region & Language Settings" and now use "German (Neo 2)" in
the FIRST place and "German (no dead keys)" in the SECOND place
2. Open Chromium and open any web page (it does not work with any other
application)
3. Use Super+Alt+Backspace to change to "German (no dead keys)" layout
4. Press Ctrl+F
5. Instead of the In-Page-Search opening, you go to the search bar, which means
that the input is interpreted as Ctrl+E instead of Ctrl+F. If you press Ctrl+I
(which is Ctrl+F on Neo2), the search bar opens, which means that even though
Neo2 is selected, the old keymap is still somehow active.

Info:

1) Release: Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS
2) gnome-control-center: Installed: 1:3.36.4-0ubuntu2
3/4) See reproduction steps above

Public bug reported:

Recover system by press and release reset switch. Log in again.

Had these issues with Ubuntu 18.04. Updated to Nvidia drivers and issues

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1909372] [NEW] PS2 mouse stopped working the upgrade before this one, still not working. FIX IT PLS!

2020-12-26 Thread Jim
Public bug reported:

Last upgrade, having the PS2 mouse connected caused Ubuntu 20.04.1 to
lock up the computer on a black screen. ASUS Mobo, Quad core AMD,
64-bit; 1 TB WD HDD. Mobo is a circa 2014 so still well within it's
life.

Withdrawing support for PS2 equipment at this EARLY stage makes us
computer owners wonder why as there's no reason to do that this early.
They are still making and selling brand new PS2 mice and keyboards! This
bug likely applies to PS2 keyboards as well though I didn't test that.

This upgrade, first one since Ubuntu stopped supporting PS2 equipmnet a
couple three weeks ago (it's 12/26/20 today), it didn't lock up the
computer this time so that was fixed, but PS2 mice still don't work!??
Why??

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1851621] Re: [snap] No KDE file dialogs

2020-12-26 Thread Sergey Temerkhanov
1. Is it fixed in 20.10?
2. If not, is there a proper package anywhere instead of a broken snap?

native host (suggested google solutions didn't work), Kubuntu mouse

Is there a bug/explanation somewhere of what behavior changed with
failIfMajorPerformanceCaveat in FF83?

  Ubuntu 20.10 with Wayland.

When I try to launch a webGL game:

  Specifically Pixi says:
Error: WebGL unsupported in this browser, use "pixi.js-legacy" for fallback

Downgrading to Firefox 82 works. Not sure if this is an Ubuntu build
issue or Firefox, so I also filed upstream as well:
  https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1678652

I need this functionality for work, and pinning to version 82 will be

How do I call Google? Also since they haven't fixed it until now, I
doubt they ever will. Is there some hack to make it work? An user

release of v5.11, you are suggested to use #189 to save your touchpad.

The complete solution is three patches,
   - 47a0001436352c9853d72bf2071e85b316d688a2 ("pinctrl: amd: remove debounce
filter setting in IRQ type setting")

   - 8dcb7a15a585b6d0fee15751ce11d7a68cfedd56 ("gpiolib: acpi: Take into

The first two patches has reached the stable tree. If the last one is

But I don't know when this will happen.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 373113]

2020-12-26 Thread Qa-admin-q
Dear Christopher M. Penalver,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open,
confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked
on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has
been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really
appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still
present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of
LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team

Title:
Output Device selection messed (Line Out <-> HDMI)

Status in gnome-control-center package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  [System]
  - Freshly installed Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS with 3rd party software/drivers enabled
  - pulseaudio 1:13.99.1-1ubuntu3.7
  - NVIDIA graphics card (GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost) using nvidia-driver-450
  - Monitor with build-in (stereo) speakers connected via HDMI to graphics card
  - External (stereo) speakers connected via audio jack to mainboard

  [Expected Behavior]

  1. Go to "Settings" -> "Sound" -> "Output" -> "Output Device"
  2. Switch from "HDMI / DisplayPort 2 - GK106 HDMI Audio Controller" to "Line
Out - Built-in Audio"
  3. The switching should enable the chosen output device.

  [Bug Description and Behavior]

If I switch from "HDMI / DisplayPort 2 - GK106 HDMI Audio Controller"
to "Line Out - Built-in Audio" and test the output, sound comes still
from monitor speakers and not from my external speakers.

  [Workaround]

While "HDMI / DisplayPort 2 - GK106 HDMI Audio Controller" selected,
go to "Configuration" and switch from "Digital Stereo (HDMI 2) Output"
to "Digital Surround 5.1 (HDMI 2) Output". Instantly "Configuration"
row disappears, in Output Device "Line Out - Built-in Audio" is
selected and external speakers are active.

  [Further comments]

I'm affected by this bug and the "wrong audio output on every reboot/wake
up/login" since upgrade to 20.04 but the latter may be worth another bug report
or maybe you could guide me to an active bug report that isn't linked to a
previous Ubuntu version and already marked as fixed.
At first I thought it may be caused by failed upgrade or my system
configurations, but now I tested with a freshly installed Ubuntu on a spare SSD
and the problem still exists, so here I am.

Title:
evince suicides in 20.04 but not in 18.04

Status in evince package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Description: Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS
  Release: 20.04

Evince does a suicide trip after unsuccessfully trying to open a CBR
file. After a while it is killed. Here is my terminal output:

  $ evince TheCartoons.cbr
  Killed
  $

And between the line "$ evince TheCartoons.cbr" and the final
  "Killed", are passing many minutes.

Please note that I started my report in
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/1785060
not knowing exactly what "expired" there means. I did "apport-collect
1785060" there, too.

Please note also that my error message (see above) is quite different
from seb128 in bug 1785060. In fact, there is no error message just
  the statement "Killed".

What gets me is that in 18.04 it is working so smooth and fast and
that in 20.04 it is such a mess!

P.S. I do not know whether this helps, but with Debian 11 Xfce (Buster sid,
testing), evince loads and opens this CBR file correctly, albeit slowly, but
okular (installed in Buster sid) yields a similar error message like that of
seb128 with evince in bug 1785060:
"Could not open file TheCartoons.cbr. The version of unrar on your system is
not suitable for opening comicbooks"
  Inverted world ;-)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1909387] [NEW] Xorg crash (libinput related) on middle mouse click with firefox icognito window

2020-12-26 Thread DarkTrick
Public bug reported:

What happens:
==
Xorg crashes, all unsaved data will be lost.

Reproduce
==
I can't reproduce it on demand. But it happens after a while.
- Usually I browse within a Firefox incognito window and use my middle mouse
button.
- In todays particular case, I pressed the middle mouse button to close a
window.
- Note: I have `EasyStroke` setup to run on middle-mouse-button click (Program
to enable mouse gestures). From experience, I strongly believe this is related.
- Maybe `suspend`ing the computer several times is related to this problem.

Title:
Xorg crash (libinput related) on middle mouse click with firefox
  icognito window

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  What happens:
  ==
Xorg crashes, all unsaved data will be lost.

  Reproduce
  ==
I can't reproduce it on demand. But it happens after a while.
  - Usually I browse within a Firefox incognito window and use my middle mouse
button.
  - In todays particular case, I pressed the middle mouse button to close a
window.
  - Note: I have `EasyStroke` setup to run on middle-mouse-button click
(Program to enable mouse gestures). From experience, I strongly believe this is
related.
  - Maybe `suspend`ing the computer several times is related to this problem.
