[Bug 2071366] [NEW] Network Manager openvpn (24.04 ) doesn't work with openvpn 2.6 (2.5 is EOL in days) - no data-ciphers options
Public bug reported: As openvpn 2.5 is EOL starting July 2024 (in days) I upgraded our servers to 2.6 I was then not able to connect to the openvpn server using Network Manager (2.5 server was fine) I could still connect via cli. I found the issue was the fact Network Manager has no concept of data- ciphers - cli connected even without a data-ciphers line. I eventually found out how to fix this (randomly) I found the netplan file associated with the vpn connection - in my case /etc/netplan/90-NM-593c9490-1bcc-4063-97e8-9a42ae7faa3c.yaml I edited it and added a line (I randomly guessed this would work) vpn.data-ciphers: "AES-256-CBC:AES-256-GCM:AES-128-GCM:CHACHA20-POLY1305" Then applied netplan and restarted NetworkManager And now I can connect... Seeing as now any versions openvpn below 2.6 are EOL shouldn't network manager be fixed fairly soon ? Also if I then make any changes in Network manager to the vpn profile it breaks it (by removing the line) (is this an issue with sticking with Plasma 5.x also ? Same thing here connecting from Intrepid client (x86) - to an arch linux freenx server - i.e no arrow keys, etc - I could always connect from gentoo, arch linux and opensuse fine - however I use KDE on these systems I have just tried connecting from Intrepid with kde4.2 and it works fine. i.e - this issue only seems to effect connecting from Ubuntu gnome. [Bug 576153] [NEW] Enabling desktop effects before installing Nvidia driver result in wrong version install - 3D unusable
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center The Bug is repeatable on both x86 + x86_64 Ubuntu 10.04 100% of the time. On a fresh 10.04 install using a Nvidia card, if you try to enable desktop effects (i.e compiz) via the appearance menu - i.e click 'normal' you get prompted to install the binary Nvidia driver. It installs a nvidia driver this, however after rebooting 3D is so slow it is completely un-usable - the minimise compiz effect moves about 2fps - games are far slower than mesa The reason: Is due to the wrong version of the nvidia driver being installed - 173.14.22 - this does not work on my card - Nvidia 8500 However : If I install nvidia driver using 'administration' -> 'Hardware drivers' - then reboot it is fine - i.e it is installs correct version : 195.36. So it is the trigger that installs the driver - by activating compiz (desktop-effects) - that is wrong. This will cause many new users who just happen to install the driver that way to assume that 3D doesn't work on their card. An easy fix would be for the trigger to just go to the standard menu option - 'administration' -> 'Hardware drivers' ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: gnome-control-center 1:2.30.1-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-22.33-generic 2.6.32.11+drm33.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-22-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed May 5 21:35:40 2010 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/gnome-appearance-properties InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release amd64 (20100429) ProcEnviron: LANG=en_GB.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gnome-control-center ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug lucid -- Enabling desktop effects before installing Nvidia driver result in wrong version install - 3D unusable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/576153 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
