[Bug 1080417] [NEW] laptop system : gnome-control-center brightness bar differs from unity shortcut activated brightness bar

2012-11-18 Thread melchiaros
Public bug reported:

On Laptop system there are two ways to change monitor brightness.

The first is with the gnome control center -> adjusting the brightness
bar.

The second way is to use keybord shortcuts for the monitor brightness.
-> In this case unity shows a wiget on the desktop with a bar for
brightness.

Unfortunally the bar status of both ways are not synchronized.

For illustrating please look at the attached screenshot.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Install Raring on a laptop system
2.Use the system center option to adjust the monitor brightness.
3.Use (if available) keybord shortcuts to adjust the monitor brightness.
4.See that both brighness bar differ.

Additional:

On the system I use brightness is not really adjustable(kernelbug), but
anyway the both bars should not differ in anyway.

[Bug 1082901] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in _IO_vfprintf_internal()

2012-11-25 Thread melchiaros
Following the headline this here might be a dub of

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/945378

, but the procedure to archive the crsher is different(they only access
the trash folder) and the stacktrace looks only simliar in it's steps. I
could not say if it is the same. They have also not used gksu as far as
I have seen.

[Bug 1080301] Re: no menus in top panel

2012-12-08 Thread melchiaros
With menu items you mean File, Edit,... and so on.

As far as I know that is by design. There should only by one menu item
called "personal folder"

[Bug 1001573] [NEW] cd/dvd mounting failed everytime

2012-05-19 Thread melchiaros
Public bug reported:

I am on Ubuntu 12.04 64bit updated to 19.5.2012.

On inserting a cd/dvd on any contend - also blank ones - Ubuntu is not
able to mount the cd/dvd and eject it immediatelly from drive.

In moment I could not use the drive at whole with this bug.

In additional: When the drive has one time ejected a disk a closing of
the drive (emty) causes the same behaviour. It open immediatelly even if
it is emty. A closing of the drive is no longer possible.

Additional:

This is a regression bug that must be shipped with one of the latest
updates to the system. Following the gvfs change log it could not be
gvfs directly(last change on 16.4.2012), but must be any other package.

[Bug 1005132] [NEW] "Send error rreports to canonical" checkbox disable itself

2012-05-27 Thread melchiaros
Public bug reported:

I am on Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal 64bit.

In system settings -> Privacy -> Diagnostics is the checkbox "Send
error reports to canonical" under the textline "People using this

the button "Unlock".

Activating the checkbox, leaving the settings and comming back to it
immediatelly shows that the checkbox is again deactivated.

The same behaviour is observable even when the system administrator lock the
"People using this computer can:" - and with this
"Send error rreports to canonical" - after activating the checkbox.

[Bug 1005140] [NEW] Universal Access settings should also work on standard programs

2012-05-27 Thread melchiaros
Public bug reported:

I am on Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal 64bit.

System settings -> Universal Access -> View gives the user(possible view
impaired one) the opportunity to adjust the system wide text size.

Good thing!

But the standard programs like Firefox or LibreOffice are not adjusted
by this central settings as far as their menues are affected.

So, the user experience for view impaired users is that they have to
bring their heads everytime they start to use one of this standard
programs direct to the screen and search for the menue zoom settings in
those programs, which is a strange task for them.

Expected:

With the Universal Access -> View text size settings it should be
possible to adjust also the menu size in the not canonical standard
program in the unity launcher panel, which are Firefox and LibreOffice.

2012-05-31 Thread melchiaros
Aha, I have not know that unity-2D does not provide this feature.

In this case please mark this as wish. Also the 2D variant should give
me a chance to see what is on the monitor.

-

What the .xsession-erros affect. I gave nautilus a run on, but could
not find such on the whole filesystem(even when searching for hidden
files).

I attach the xorg logs. When you want other, please give me the exact
path.

For firefox is a clarification needed.

It affects the textsize of the tabs.

On this scrrenshot you see the textsize on "normal" for the only tab
opened.

The text in the firefox window itself is on maximum zoom adjusted with
firefox abilities only.

Q:You are saying that firefox and libreoffice don't respect the text

A: You can give the cause for the behaviour to the programs, but this is
in every case correct.

The problem of the user keeps that he/she wants (and needs) one central
point(unversal access) where could be made the change to the most
important programs of the desktop as far as accessibility is affected.

[Bug 954951] Re: Rhythmbox doesn't resume after Pause from a CD track

2012-06-25 Thread melchiaros
Andrei, much of what is on Ubuntu is community driven, so the people
that handle most of the bugs in the Linux ecosystem are doing this
without payed for.

When it is not fast enough it was everytime since Linux arrise in a way
that the people who feel unconfortable with a bug were doing the fixing
by thereself. This has changed a bit in the last years and a Linux user
has have today not also a developer(which was common for long). Seeing
that there are tons of engineres in background is not correct. Primary
every linux user has the opportunity to become a developer. Thing of
that we do not have the Billon dollar infrastructure of Microsoft, where
you absolutly correct can come arround whith the expectation that there
should be enough engineers.

Search for "Ubuntu become developer"(guides and tutorials are there) and give
youself a try is my suggestion(I am also affected of this bug).

the crash. Here comes a standard text:

Please give a step by step description like pushing this button,
choosing that, waiting for, and so on). Give a good algorithmic
description, that is complete and can guide a beginner in gimp to the
point where the problem happends.

(step1,
 step2,

finished)

After that set the status of this report back to new.

[Bug 1021517] Re: Full system crash using any tool in Gimp

2012-07-08 Thread melchiaros
I have tried to reproduce, but it fails. Indeed that was what I have
expected. The bugrate on this is to low on launchpad as that could be a
common bug of GIMP to all.

"step5: crash (login window appears)" from comment 5.

That is a very valuable hint.

It says that you have not so far a problem with GIMP, it is the xserver
of your system that crashes. Gimp is just hitting the weak point of
xserver.

Xserver bugs are mostly hard to debug, but in your case it is possible,
because you can reproduce it.

---

The easiest way would be, if the system has gathered the crash by
itself, but has not send it.

Please check the directory

/var/crash/

with nautilus

if there is a .crash file of xorg or metacity or similiar. (You can post
a list of files here if you want).

With a right mouse click -> open with -> report problem you can send
this manually.

It should be entered in the crash database(no seperated ticket), but
maybe you get a launchpad ticket

Please report back. When there is no .crash file we do it more
complicated.

this is not looking good.

Is your sytstem partial encrypted(/home) or full encrypted and with this
the root partition in which the system programs are stored like xorg and
gimp?

Apport has not shown this, but just to be sure: Do you have a
properitary driver from nvidia or ati installed?

[Bug 364364] Re: Gimp 2.6.6 oubuntu1 crashes on startup

2012-07-12 Thread melchiaros
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Ubuntu 9.10 reached End Of Live on
October 23, 2010.
See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

I have tried to reproduce with the latest developer version of Ubuntu,
but could not.

Please upgrade to the latest stable version(12.04) and re-test. If the
bug is still reproducable, increase the verbosity of the steps to
recreate it so we can try again.

Run in this case from Ubuntu12.04 terminal(or press ALT +F2 and enter
the following then):

apport-collect 364364

Do feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

--

Howto:

Look at the "software sources" of your system. There should under the
menu point "actualization" some entries about notifications.

Set them all to the shortest times available. The last entrie there
should be something like notify about newer ubuntu versions.

Apply this changes and reload your package sources : e.g synaptic relaod
or update manager(Software updates).

You should after this get a notification(try a bit arround until the
sytem recognize) about a release upgrade from the update-manager(may be
called Software updates).

Run this.

!Make first a backup of your system!(e.g. dejadub)

The upgrades has become more and more stable in the last years, but the
procedure is a complicated one for the software and may under
circumstances render your system unbootable.

The whole upgrade may take some hours.

Good luck!

-

Please iterate this until you have reached the actual version
Ubuntu12.04.

[Bug 1108637] Re: backspace key no longer works in nautilus

2013-02-02 Thread melchiaros
The upstream (692852 has been marked as dublicate)

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=679822

has been marked as fixed:

Cosimo Cecchi [nautilus developer] 2012-08-23 10:11:03 UTC

"
Pushed a fix for [...ALT+ < >]to git master now.
"

--

If there is a broader need for the "BACKSPACE" feature the
configuration change mentioned upstream by

James 2013-01-31 02:34:19 UTC

"
Not sure if it's going to be a default, but you'll need to add this:

(gtk_accel_path "/ShellActions/Up" "BackSpace")

to ~/.config/nautilus/accels to get Backspace back.

HTH for someone reading here.
"

must be incorporated in the ubuntu package independend of the upstream
as far as I could see.
