[Bug 374130] Re: screenshot fails on screen :0.1

2009-05-11 Thread keepitsimpleengr
I don't mean to be obtuse, but I use this computer for work, and really
the only short-cut key I use is the print screen and alt-print screen.
There is no music (or for all I know, a music player) on the system.
There is not even a printer attached to this system.

Perhaps you could suggest a documentation page that would detail the
shortcut keys and what they do, I will be pleased to do this.

Thanx…

I did not have this bug in 8.04 and I do have it in 8.10.

I verified the code in the patch before applying it.

If this only refers to 8.04, do I need to open a new bug?

1. Is this reproducible?
Yes, it happens at every startup
2. If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug? Be as
detailed as possible.
  ??

If I delete the errant panel and create a new one on the right edge
identical to the one deleted, it stays there properly. After shutdown
and restart, it will again be on the left (wrong) side.

This may be related to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
applets/+bug/477693

I use four panels:
TOP: Menus, various apps and geyes, expanded
BOTTOM: multiple geyes to assist in locating mouse, expanded
LEFT: unexpanded panel with tabs running window selector, normally closed
RIGHT: unexpanded panel with tabs running desktop selector, normally closed

I use Compiz Fusion and Emerald window decorator.

This behavior did not occur in 9.04.

This behavior limits the usefulness of this workstation.

[Bug 374141] Re: resizing window leaves garbage on screen

2009-05-09 Thread keepitsimpleengr
Hi Ben…

Does the 'garbage' disappear after a while? If so - how long?
⋯The garbage will disappear if you move a window over them.

And also - is this with all applications or just opera?
⋯generally with all windows, but may not happen.

And finally - Do you have desktop effects enabled?
⋯I have a dual monitor setup running separate x screens. There are many
problems with Gnome 2.26.0 on the second screen. I also run compiz only on
display :0.0. (compiz --display :0.0 --only-current-screen --replace &) Also
from time to time compiz will stop compositing requiring a restart. Running it
on :0.1 has proved to be impossible probably because of Gnome 2.26 problems.
All these problems did not occur in Ububtu 8.10 and Gnome 2.22 amd64.

I run an nvidia 8800 GTX to two monitors, 2560x1600 & 1440x900, nvidia
driver is 180.44, X.org 1.6.0, attached is xorg.conf

:~$ apt-cache policy compiz
compiz:
  Installed: 1:0.8.2-0ubuntu8
  Candidate: 1:0.8.2-0ubuntu8
  Version table:
 *** 1:0.8.2-0ubuntu8 0

jaunty/main Packages
500 http://mirrors.us.kernel.org jaunty/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Not a problem to lend a hand in resolving this minor problem, seems as
if there are some major ones going without attention.

[Bug 482777] Re: colors in video are wrong

2010-07-06 Thread keepitsimpleengr
Upgrading (online inplace, online with CD, off-line with CD)
distribution from 9.10 to 10.04 result in system becoming unresponsive
and unusable.

Several bug reports have been filed
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/600761)
but there has been no response/reply regarding them.

So I would say any testing on a new GStreamer would be moot.
