[Bug 2080293] [NEW] Ubuntu Nautilus bug in rename file
Public bug reported: System: HP elite-book 440 G1 running Ubuntu 24.04LTS if you rename a file in Ubuntu Nautilus via "Right-Click/Rename" and rename a file to a case variation of the same filename, nothing at all happens? in order to rename the file simply to change the case of a character you have to completely change the name of the file to something else, and then rename it again back to what it was before but with your desired variation in case example, rename file from "setup.sh" to "Setup.sh" and nothing happens, the file is not renamed you have to rename the file from "setup.sh" to "SSetup.sh" and then rename it again to "Setup.sh" in order for the file name to actually change ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2080293 Title: Ubuntu Nautilus bug in rename file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/2080293/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1648931] [NEW] package gconf2 3.2.6-3ubuntu7 failed to install/upgrade: dependency problems - leaving triggers unprocessed -
Public bug reported: This was a reported error during upgrade from 16.04 to 16.10. [Bug 987220] Re: System does not power off reliably when "Shut Down" chosen from GUI
At http://askubuntu.com/questions/125844/shutdown-does-not-power-off- computer I found the following suggestion: Type in terminal: 1. sudo gedit /etc/default/grub 2. Find the line: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" 3. Change this to: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi=force" 4. Save the file and close the file. 5. Finally, in terminal: sudo update-grub This works for me. [Bug 1845899] [NEW] gnome-terminal won't run with python 3.7.3, but it will with python 3.6.8
Public bug reported: For quite some time, I've been battling with a problem where my gnome- terminal won't run. I have finally isolated it down to Python 3.7.3. When my symlink for python3 points to python 3.7.3, I cannot get gnome-terminal to run. When I point my symlink for python3 to python 3.6.8, gnome-terminal runs fine. I have not tried versions between python 3.6.8 and python 3.7.3, but I have narrowed it down all the way. Steps for me to reproduce...starting with symlink python3->python 3.6.8 Attempt to run gnome-terminal from favorites bar. It runs fine. Keep the gnome-terminal open >From within gnome-terminal: $ sudo rm /usr/bin/python3 $ sudo ln -s /usr/bin/python3.7 /usr/bin/python3 Now attempt to run gnome-terminal from the favorites bar...the mouse pointer spins, indicating that it is trying to run gnome- terminal...after a short time, the mouse pointer stops spinning, but gnome-terminal does NOT start. Now, from the open gnome-terminal do the following steps: $ sudo rm /usr/bin/python3 $ sudo ln -s /usr/bin/python3.6 /usr/bin/python3 Now attempt to run gnome-terminal from the favorites bar...it runs fine. I have switched the python3 symlink between python 3.7.3 and python 3.6.8 many times at this point and I'm always able to reproduce the above. Feel free to email me if you have questions. [Bug 1442828] [NEW] change for LP 1425376 breaks systemd After=network-online.target
Public bug reported: The change to ifup@.service done as part of LP 1425376 appears to break the ordering of units marked as "After=network-online.target". In my specific case, a new service script with "After=network-online.target" is erroneously run concurrently with dhclient. As the new script depends on networking configuration being complete, it fails as the IP addresses and routes from DHCP are not configured. This functioned correctly on vivid daily images from a few days ago, and appears to break starting with the vivid daily from approximately 0409. [Bug 1152226] Re: nautilus no longer remembers view per directory
This seems to me to be a questionable UX decision. Many users would prefer when going to some folders to see icons and for other folders to see a list, based on the contents of the folders. It makes less sense to have the persistence of the setting based on the random fact of a given window invocation at a given time. Re: [Bug 505466] Re: Evolution segmentation fault
Thanks Sebastien, However I had to get my system up so I backed up my files to usb and installed Hardy. Never had a problem with XP, Jaunty, or Hardy. I'm pretty sure the bug is related to Karmic and not hardware since I have been using Evolution in Hardy for a long time with no crashes. When I first installed Karmic, I experienced seg faults with Synaptics (when i tried to search), Empathy (rarely but random crash), and Evolution would always crash at random 2 to 20 minute intervals. Sorry I could not help with the bug, but it's monday and I had to get my notebook running. thanks, jay On Mon, 2010-01-11 at 09:55 +, Sebastien Bacher wrote: > Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu > better. [Bug 518533] Re: Unable to mount location Not Authorized after nautilus upgrade
I can confirm this issues still exists in a clean install of 12.04 LTS using FreeNX. I did find that if I hook a keyboard and a mouse up and log in locally, I can access the usb thumb drive normally. I made a DiskUtil.sh script where I do not have to type in my sudo password every time: #!/bin/sh echo "yourSudoPassword" | sudo -S palimpsest When in the graphical Disk Utility, I can mount the usb drive and then click on the link on the right hand side that says "Mount Point: Mounted at /media/Transcend" and it will open up and I can copy to and from the drive normally. Note that even mounted, I cannot access the files through Nautilus at the mount point. I have to click the link in palimpsest or it will not work. But hey, at least I can access my thumb drive remotely. And for the record, I know that script file is not the best way to do that, but I tried several ways to do it correctly and they didn't work for me...so yeah, there is a script file somewhere on a system that has my password in it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/518533 Title: Unable to mount location Not Authorized after nautilus upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/518533/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1115110] [NEW] NEL character doesn't cause gnome terminal to scroll
Public bug reported: Gnome terminal should interpret ESC E as NEL (0x85) (see the description of "C1 (8-Bit) Control Characters" here: http://www.xfree86.org/current/ctlseqs.html). As I understand it, NEL should be treated pretty much like LF (0x0A). In gnome terminal, if I run "echo -n -e '\eE'" near the top of the window, it prints a blank line, which is good. But if I run it when the shell prompt is already at the bottom of the window, it doesn't print a blank line. This seems wrong. By contrast, "echo -n -e '\n'" always prints a blank line. Expected behavior: 1) When changing alert sound back to "Default," the value of "theme-name" in dconf should revert to "ubuntu", not "freedesktop". 2) When choosing an alert sound other than "Default", users will not reasonably expect that many of their other system sounds will disappear. [Bug 874671] Re: Empathy doesn't remember favorites, chat logs when ~/.local is a symlink
Ok, here's what I did. I adapted the instructions from this comment: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/telepathy-mission- control-5/+bug/816554/comments/4 adding "owner /var/jay/.local/share/telepathy*/ rw," and the like to my /etc/apparmor.d/usr.lib.telepathy file, then running: sudo apparmor_parser -r /etc/apparmor.d/usr.lib.telepathy Empathy is now successfully saving logs, even though @{HOME}/.local/share/telepathy*/ is a symlink to /var/jay/.local/share/telepathy*/ Is it the symlinking that is causing this problem? I assume that it is. Why does apparmor balk at this symlink? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/874671 Title: Empathy doesn't remember favorites, chat logs when ~/.local is a symlink To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/874671/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
