Before I switched to Linux Ubuntu, I had used Windows where I chose an option 
to the case when my battery is charged up to 80% to maximize LIFETIME of the 
battery like it is described here:

I did it in Lenovo Energy Management. Have you done the same? It might be a 
source of the problem :)

I could solve this problem by taking the battery out and plugging it back after 
a while. The status is detected correctly. Moreover, the battery is charging to 
100% now.
