[Bug 289592] Re: Unknown media types in /usr/share/mime/packages/kde.xml

2018-06-28 Thread alfred
This bug still exists on xubuntu 18.04 why not fixing this once and for
all after all the years ??? is this really important to show this
warning or only to warn people ??? what can they do to avoid this
message ? update database ? what command-line to do so ?. Though it's
just a warning message, it remains annoying and looks pretty sloppy.

[Bug 769290] Re: Totem crashes on switching to fullscreen

2011-05-13 Thread Alfred
Interestingly thought, I switched recently from a 7600 GS AGP and an AGP
mainboard over to a Geforce GT 430 PCI-E and a PCI-E mainboard, and now
I can play videos (even 1080i) in fullscreen and in a maximized window
without problems and no crashes at all. Is this problem maybe related to
the nvidia-current driver and older (but not that old) by this driver
supported graphics cards?

[Bug 252953] [NEW] An partial update libgimp 2.4.6 was given, and it causes Gimp not to work!

2008-07-29 Thread Alfred
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gimp

On a recent update to Gutsy Ubuntu 7.10 32 bit, libgimp 2.4.6 was downloaded,
while the version of Gimp was 2.4.2. An error message comes up and says
versions need to be the same number in order for gimp to work. As it is GIMP
2.4.2, the libgimp needs to be 2.4.2, and not 2.4.6. It was a partial upgrade,
of 4 items while only one was presented. This causes gimp not to work, it will
not even start. Trying to uninstall libgimp 2.4.6, reduces Gutsy to almost
nothing, as the desktop and other items in it all depend on Gimp 2.4.2. Please
either furnish GIMP 2.4.2 and libgimp 2.4.2, or libgimp 2.4.6 and Gimp 2.4.6 so
that the program GIMP may be able to run again. LibGimp 2.4.2 can not be found
with synaptic, and Gimp
2.4.6 can not be found with synaptic. it is as though someone did this, to
destroy GIMP!

The error message reads: Libgimp version mismatch!

The GIMP binary cannot run with a libgimp version
other than its own. This is GIMP 2.4.2, but the
libgimp version is 2.4.6.

Maybe you have GIMP versions in both /usr and /usr/local ? end of
error message.

I don't want to report a bug about xorg server, and don't know how to
undo that. The bug is with libgimp2.0

The package is libgimp2,0

Re: [Bug 252953] [NEW] An partial update libgimp 2.4.6 was given, and it causes Gimp not to work!

2008-07-31 Thread Alfred
Hi:
I went to the Gimp Web Site, to see if there was something I could do.
I went into terminal, and used apt-get install gimp, and this
downloaded and installed the 3 missing packages that Update could not
find. So now Gimp is working very well. I also downloaded the
recommended packages, and Gimp is working better than it has in a long
time. However Update has some sort of error in it, in that it could not
find the 3 Gimp packages, while apt-get could find them.

The packages are:
gimp-data_2.4.6-1ubuntu1~gutsy1_all.deb
gimp_2.4.6-1ubuntu1~gutsy1_i386.deb
gimp-python_2.4.6-1ubuntu1~gutsy1_i386.deb

for some reason update in 7.10 cannot find these packages, and so it
does a partial upgrade, which results in this error.

Alfred!

[Bug 1952107] Re: Google Contacts API Deprecated

2022-10-20 Thread Alfred Porter
If I recall, you need to open the Seahorse application and search for
"Address Book" entries. These need to be changed to the app-specific
password you created in Google. But when Evolution interactively asks
you for your Google account, you will still use the normal password that
goes along with that account.

[Bug 1506704] Re: Thin font, nautilus doesn't integrate with Unity.

2016-10-03 Thread Alfred Cavigelli
I had a freshly installed Ubuntu 16.01.1 with same issues (thin fonts). The
issue appeared with auto login only. Now I defined a auto-login-delay of 1
second and it works fine.
To define the delay open the file "/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf" and edit the line
"autologin-user-timeout=1".

$ sudo nano /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf

autologin-user-timeout=1

[Bug 304477] Re: Ctrl-L is a poor keybinding for "Clear"

2013-09-04 Thread Alfred Daw
To fix the problems this "fix" causes on XChat, go to Settings -> Advanced ->
Keyboard Shortcuts.
Add new -> Highlight the net entry (at the bottom) -> Mod = Ctrl, Key = l, Data
1 = /clear and the drop down box should be set to "Run Command".
(If you want this to also work on ctrl+L, add one with an L rather than an l,
too.)
