[Bug 1821933] Re: Touch input is misaligned with two screens

Just the laptop is touch screen. Monitor is normal monitor.

I recorded a quick video to try and show what's going on:

[Bug 1822072] Re: User selector doesn't have focus from login screen after screen turned off

2019-03-28 Thread Will Cooke
Thanks Popey, I've updated the description.

Something to note: While I was testing this I noticed that a fraction
of a second before the screen starts fading to black you can see that
focus is taken away from the user selector. So it seems it's not
returned when it "wakes up" again.

** Description changed:

In gdm usually the user name is pre-selected. This means that you can
just hit enter and then put your password in. In Disco this is the case
on boot up. If you wait for the screensaver to kick in (i.e. boot and
do nothing for 5 mins) then when the screen comes back again the
  username is not selected.

  Steps To Reproduce
  1. Boot Disco
  2. Once you get to the login screen, notice that your username is selected.
  3. Do nothing, touch nothing. Wait for the screensaver to kick in and blank
the screens.
- 4. Wiggle the mouse and you will be back at the login screen
+ 4. Wiggle the mouse, dismiss the clock screen and you will be back at the
login screen
  5. Notice that you user is no longer selected and in order to log in you
have to move the mouse and click on the user name

  What should happen
The username should be pre-selected so that I can log in without having to
use the mouse.

[Bug 1821933] Re: Touch input is offset with two screens (even appearing on the wrong screen)

2019-03-29 Thread Will Cooke
No additional scaling is set, everything is 100%.
It does feel like there is some acceleration going on though.

The offset seems consistent to shell, apps and the backdrop. e.g. I
position a window on the right hand screen and I can grab the top of it
by dragging on the left screen.

2019-03-29 Thread Will Cooke
More testing:

Testing on Fedora with GNOME 3.32 under their default wayland session,
touch events seem to be positioned correctly.

Testing on Disco under the Wayland session touch on the dock and parts
of shell that are on the left of the screen seems to work, but touch-
dragging on the background doesnt seem to work at all.

[Bug 1817020] Re: Touching and dragging an icon on the dock blocks input to other apps

2019-05-31 Thread Will Cooke
I have installed GNOME Shell 3.28.4-0ubuntu18.04.1 from proposed.

I have tested this fix by dragging an icon up and down the launched with
my finger and dropping on it on icons. In the past I could lock up the
shell very easily. Now I can't get it to crash at all.

Marking as verification done.

Thanks all.

[Bug 1837437] [NEW] disk content permanently lost when changing LUKS password

2019-07-22 Thread Will Cooke
Public bug reported:

This is fixed upstream. Logging this bug to track the fix in to Ubuntu.

>From the upstream bug:

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=928893

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Install system using normal full disk encryption LUKS+Ext4.
After install open gnome-disk-utility and change
encryption password. It gives some error dialog and
now you are royally screwed. It deleted the only
LUKS keyslot. Cannot add new keyslots because of that.
All data will be lost after reboot.

Here is output of luksdump:

udo cryptsetup luksDump /dev/sda5

I changed salt and digest. No Keyslots are present!!!

I tried this 2 times in a row with new install,
exactly same result.

more windows doesn't open the preview. This is how it worked in D for example.

Expected behaviour:
Click on an icon in the dock where two or more windows are open should open the
preview showing the mini versions of the available windows.

[Bug 1791024] [NEW] BIOS Update offered for Thinkpad X270 fails to update from GNOME Software

2018-09-06 Thread Will Cooke
Public bug reported:

GNOME Software told me that there was an important update - which was a
BIOS update for my Thinkpad:

0.1.8 -> 0.1.32

When I click update in GNOME Software the update vanishes from the list
for a few seconds and then reappears again.

[Bug 1785240] Re: Cancelling snapd authorization triggers error notification

2018-09-21 Thread Will Cooke
Updated Bionic from proposed and have the 3.28.1-0ubuntu4.18.04.4

I clicked install on a snap, then hit cancel at the polkit prompt. It
correctly showed the error message in GNOME Software.

[Bug 1782703] Re: Unable to download updates from "extensions.gnome.org"

I saw this today while testing a Cosmic live session without access to
the internet.

I see why this bug happens, if there is no internet connection then
indeed it can't download updates, but the error message is very ugly and
not especially helpful.

Additional information: this only seems to happen on first start up
when there is no internet connection. Subsequent start ups after it has
contact the internet do not show this ugly error message. It fails more
gracefully.

Should I log this upstream?

[Bug 1794951] [NEW] Calculator (snap) is slow to start on a freshly installed Cosmic machine

2018-09-28 Thread Will Cooke
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

 * Install a Cosmic machine in a VM (note, you might need to set nomodeset
while the bugs are being worked out)
 * Log in
 * Start GNOME Calculator
 * Note the long start up time (circa 20 seconds)

I expect this is the same for all the other snaps that are preinstalled.

[Bug 1794953] [NEW] GNOME Calculator snap has wrong theme in live session

2018-09-28 Thread Will Cooke
Public bug reported:

Running GNOME Calculator (or System Monitor, for example) runs the app
with Adwaita theme instead of Yaru when in the live session. This seems
to resolve itself when used in the real session.

Steps to reproduce:

* Launch a live USB stick in a VM (note: you might need to use nomodeset until
that is fixed)
* Open any of the seeded snaps and note that the theme is wrong.

[Bug 1683445] Re: E6430 brightness control not working

2018-10-02 Thread Will Cooke
I've asked our OEM team to look for the hardware to test this on, but they
haven't got any.
We're in the position that as far as we can tell nothing is made *worse* by
this change, but we can't be sure if it actually fixes the problem or not. I
think this is safe to land now, but if anyone has hardware to test this on,
please help.

Today, when I search in G-S for "Stellar" I get good results. From what

I dont see anything wrong today.

Marking as done again. I think it's OK now.
