Re: [Bug 35545] Re: Doesn't display animated GIFs

I'd consider being able to display animated gif's that were introduced in
'87 rather vital, if not even completely backward for not being able to.

[Bug 11334] Re: Copy-Paste doesn't work if the source is closed before the paste

2009-06-11 Thread Vadim Peretokin
As a workaround, http://parcellite.sourceforge.net/ seems to be solving
this just fine somehow, while even giving the expanded functionality of
being able to go in history of clipboard (so you can ctrl+c, ctrl+c,
ctrl+v, ctrl+v) while being very lightweight (4.7mb for me atm with
indicator-applet 6.1 with 1 app connected to it).

I would say that is best, yes.

Because a) that's how emblems are designed to use, b) they aren't meant to

[Bug 629258] Re: Battery life estimation never comes around

2010-10-08 Thread Vadim Peretokin
The little secret is that Laptop battery - Details still shows the
'percentage' of your battery, so you can have a better guesstimate than
the little red bar that sits at red for 20mins or so.

Pity that the functionality has devolved since 10.04, though - it's
getting harder and harder to use the Ubuntu-certified laptop with each
release.

[Bug 1867758] Re: Gnome shell froze completely

2020-03-19 Thread Vadim Peretokin
1. _usr_bin_gnome-screensaver crashed on the 16th, which is a day before
this report. That crash was uploaded. _usr_bin_gnome-shell.1000 also
crashes on the 11th, that was uploaded as well.

2. I've uninstalled everything I could, will see if it happens again. I
just had the freeze happen now while extensions were still installed.

2020-05-11 Thread Vadim Peretokin
Sorry, that's not really practical to do on a production system.

That said, the issue could have been because there wasn't enough disk
space. Clearing it up and rebooting seems to have solved things. This is
a change in behaviour from previous Ubuntu releases.

That did not work for me. I had to uninstall gdm3 completely in order to be
able to even get a login screen up.

The VM would be using VirtualBox drivers, not NVIDIA - so I don't think
your problem is related!

Hmm. What I did was load into recovery mode which allowed me to install and
uninstall packages - there I uninstalled lightgdm and ran the suggested
dpkg-config command to setup gdm.

You can also do all of the commands from the rescue mode.

What is concerning is that this major issue is still left untouched. Is
there anything we can do to help?

there, but then it simply takes me back to the lock screen.

[Bug 1765261] Re: [regression] Ubuntu 18.04 login screen rejects a valid password on first attempt. Usually works on the second attempt

2018-05-17 Thread Vadim Peretokin
Second time does not work for me - neither the third, nor the tenth.
Once I lock the screen, there is a chance the GNOME environment will
reject all password attempts to lock it and I have to lose all my work
by forcing a restart. This is a very serious problem.

Is there a workaround available?

You just enable apport and use your computer. It's that simple. I disabled
it because I was getting 1-2 crashes a day and thought that reporting
umpteen of them would be enough - apparently not, so let's not care then.

after they were even asked to clean up they trash, and they -did-. Not
