[Bug 452938] Re: Left mouse button click in (java|flash) does not work.

2009-12-04 Thread Textureglitch
This appears to fix my problems too. When did this break? It's been
working on Karmic before, I've only just noticed today in Eclipse that
buttons couldn't be pressed and some lists were invisible (looked empty,
but when you clicked it, you could hit checkmarks)

[Bug 107974] Re: Evolution will not remember exchange password

2009-12-10 Thread Textureglitch
I had this problem too on Ubuntu Karmic trying to sync with google
calendar.

The error in the terminal was:
e-data-server-ui-Message: Unable to find password(s) in keyring (Keyring
reports: No matching results)
e-data-server-ui-Message: Key file does not have group 'Passwords-Calendar'
(evolution:14134): e-data-server-ui-WARNING **: Unable to find password(s) in
keyring (Keyring reports: No matching results)

My workaround was to delete the .evolution folder in the home directory
(it will be recreated automatically), delete the relevant login keys in
seahorse, and run 'evolution --force-shutdown' in the terminal.

[Bug 61237] Re: Drag 'n Drop in list view doesn't work

2009-06-21 Thread Textureglitch
I second this bug, this has been a source of endless annoyance for
years!

I don't like to use the words Windows and Usability in the same
sentence, but they've actually solved this user interface idiocy very
easily by the DnD selecting the folder you're in (not any of the
subfolders) when you move the mouse to a column different from the
"name" one, i.e. every other column (type, date, permission, owner,
group, etc.) is treated as whitespace for DnD.

This makes sense because you're no longer pointing directly at a
directory where you want to drop the files. The error Nautilus makes is
to assume that there is an invisible row all the way across the
interface. Which means that when your DnD is pointing at for instance
the 'type' column, Nautilus is still going to drop your files in the
folder that the row corresponds to.

[Bug 48671] Re: Cannot rename by clicking on a file

2009-06-21 Thread Textureglitch
For the love of all that is holy, DO NOT IMPLEMENT THIS!

This was a stupid idea in Windows and it'll be a stupid idea in Ubuntu. When I
click a file, 99.999% of times it's because I want to select it. Not rename it.
And the moment the UI is just slightly unresponsive, or when I have selected
the file and then realize I want to drag and drop it so I click it again, or a
million other situations where I accidentally click the file twice, the rename
idiocy is going to be activated instead.

I think renaming a file is to be regarded as more intrusive an action
than selecting it and it's good to have to right-click or press F2 to
show that renaming it is actually what you want to do.

[Bug 387573] Re: Drop-down calendar does not close unless you click on it

2009-06-21 Thread Textureglitch
I actually enjoy the current calendar drop-down behavior and I don't
want it to change.

Right now I can browse and scroll freely in other windows while the
calendar is still visible; something I do often when trying to match an
email/schedule in a browser with my own current schedule.

If the calendar were to disappear when I click somewhere else then I
cannot go back and forth from scrolling in a window and changing the
month view in the calendar because it would get reset all the time.

[Bug 388920] Re: Add 'Edit' option for right click in Nautilus

2009-06-22 Thread Textureglitch
I agree with ShawnJGoff. 'Edit' is a very different function than open
and is not applicable to all files as widely at 'Open' is.

Some files open in an editor, other files open in a viewer, I think this
works fine as it is.

[Bug 48671] Re: Cannot rename by clicking on a file

2009-06-22 Thread Textureglitch
@Cody Russell

I'm not exactly sure how my comment is not as useful as the others just
because I have an opposing opinion.

I'm not saying I'm not used to the renaming functionality, I'm saying
it's unbelievably stupid UI design and at the very least I would like a
Nautilus preference option to turn this off.

This is a prime example of one of the early windows UI bugs that have been
forced down people's throats for so many years that they've gotten used to it.

If you want hard data on this, try to actually count the number of times
per day on windows/mac when Explorer puts you into rename mode and this
isn't what you wanted. It happens so often that you don't even notice
anymore.

And distinguishing between icon and label is not a good solution because
that makes the selection area too small to be useful (especially in list
and compact view) and you always end up clicking on the label the second
time anyway because this is big and easy to click and better symbolizes
the file you're trying to manipulate.

[Bug 398687] Re: Gnome shutdown dialog timeout cannot be adjusted

2009-10-04 Thread Textureglitch
I'm referring to the dialog that says 'system will shutdown in 60 seconds',
which appears after you've pressed the gnome button to do so, or pressed the
powerbutton. This dialog is unnecessary for me, and I just want to be able to
make it less than 60 seconds.
The dialog in question does not give users a choice between hibernation or
anything, it gives you the choice to cancel the shutdown or confirm it. If you
don't touch anything, the system shuts down after 60 seconds.

[Bug 398687] Re: Gnome shutdown dialog timeout cannot be adjusted

2009-10-04 Thread Textureglitch
I was going to set it to 0 seconds, actually. There's just no reason for
me to have the confirmation box at all.

I'm used to hitting shutdown and then walking away from the computer and
let it do its thing. It's also annoying on my laptops because I hit
shutdown and then close the lid before the dialog appears, because it
takes a couple seconds to show up. And sometimes it goes into suspend
instead because it hasn't started the shutdown process when the lid
closes.

Most frustrating of all, however, is that I have problems with some
ubuntu virtual machines running in Virtualbox that sometimes seize up
and refuse to accept keyboard or mouse inputs. I can still send it the
shutdown signal through Virtualbox' interface, but then I have to sit
and stare at the dialog counting down for a whole minute before the VM
can be restarted.

Basically I want it gone/customizable for the same reason I set my GRUB
countdown to 1 second as well; in 99.99% of cases I want the default behavior
without being nagged.

[Bug 398687] Re: Gnome shutdown dialog timeout cannot be adjusted

I think I've already refuted that argument, Chris. Sometimes it's not
possible to click the button, and you shouldn't have to click the button
if you don't want to.

And yes, since the 60 seconds is hardcoded into the application, someone
IS forcing 60 seconds on everybody.
