I'm not joking, so I guess you have an old version of evolution, which
is the case. So for that one, do the same, but instead of running e
-addressbook-factory, run evolution-data-server-1.2

[Bug 834523] Re: Can't change the keyboard layout from a default install

2011-08-30 Thread Rodrigo Moya
the gnome-region-panel.desktop includes the OnlyshowIn=GNOME;, so that,
on Unity we show the language selector. But yes, thus we miss the layout
selection, so maybe we want to include that in language-selector? as a
workaround, you can add Unity; to the OnlyShowIn value, so that it's
shown also on Unity

[Bug 834240] Re: custom icon theme resets to ubuntu-mono when opening appearance properties

2011-09-01 Thread Rodrigo Moya
The design for the theme selection explicitly limited the selection to
the 4 themes we show, so I guess we don't want the 'custom' thing you
mention, but at least I've fixed the patch in our package to not change
the icon theme unless the user really selects one from the combo box.

[Bug 832603] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in g_simple_async_result_complete()

2011-09-08 Thread Rodrigo Moya
Can anyone paste his/her ~/.xsession-errors file here? This crash
happens because the _stop method is being called while the dbus
operations are still in progress, so I wonder why this is happening.

[Bug 795519] Re: Add back system-wide network proxy settings

2011-09-09 Thread Rodrigo Moya
/etc/apt/apt.conf not being updated is a bug in ubuntu-system-service,
so please file a new one for that product.

About authenticated proxy, there is no UI indeed, and it's too late in
the cycle to add it, so it will have to wait until 3.3, but for the time
being people can use http://user:password@host:port URLs. It's filed
upstream as https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=646354

About exclusion list, ditto, no UI till 3.3, but it is possible to set
the list in GSettings, under /system/proxy/ignored-hosts

[Bug 788710] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in exit()

2011-06-14 Thread Rodrigo Moya
If you can easily reproduce, can you please run:

$ ls /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon-3.0/

the crash is at an atexit() handler indeed, but gnome-settings-daemon
doesn't install any, so I guess it might be an external g-s-d plugin or
one of the libraries used in g-s-d. So, once we get the output of that
'ls' command, we'll see what -debug package to install, to get better
information of what exit handler is making g-s-d crash

[Bug 801763] Re: Typing causes cursor to stick

2011-06-28 Thread Rodrigo Moya
Before, in gnome 2.32, how did it work? (sorry, don't have any 2.32
installation to test). I don't see as a very important issue really, as
it's worst to have the touchpad being active and moved by mistake while
typing.

So, we could set the gsettings to be FALSE by default, but I'm sure it
will piss off more people than this issue, that is easily solvable by
changing the setting in the mouse & touchpad control center panel

[Bug 802947] Re: Use same 'date/time' preference in indicator-datetime and gnome-control-center

2011-06-29 Thread Rodrigo Moya
Patching g-c-c to run indicator-datetime-preferences if available and
its normal datetime panel if not is not as easy as running external
panels (http://launchpad.net/bugs/787694), so I think it is much safer
to make indicator-datetime run g-c-c datetime panel, and, if needed, add
anything we need to the g-c-c panel.

So, attached branch does that

[Bug 802557] Re: [Oneiric] gnome-system-monitor states GNOME 2.32.1

2011-06-29 Thread Rodrigo Moya
The problem here is that the package we have is reading /usr/share
/gnome-about/gnome-version.xml, instead of /usr/share/gnome/gnome-
version.xml, which does contain the correct version number. I have been
looking at the code and still not sure why it reads that wrong file,
since the source code points to $DATADIR/gnome/gnome-version.xml

Mike, that commit that Pedro points to (which contains the code you

http://git.gnome.org/browse/evolution/commit/?h=gnome-2-32&id=517023edcb2468e76786511b0ada27025e18caa6

so I was going to apply to our packages, but of course we already have
it, as this was added in 2.31.x, so not sure what's going on.
Investigating further...

so, first check it is in Debian, if it is, then ask in #ubuntu-motu on

[Bug 877326] [NEW] SRU: Update to 3.2.1 upstream release

Public bug reported:

gnome-settings-daemon 3.2.1 includes several fixes, some of which are
already included in our 3.2.0 package, and some of which are not, so it
would be great to get them all, since there have been several fixes for
the color and power plugins specially:

[Bug 876839] Re: Proxy GUI in 11.10 does not configure socks proxy for HTTP traffic

2011-10-18 Thread Rodrigo Moya
As with the banshee bug (which I just uploaded a fix for), this needs
changes in the applications, not gnome-control-center. We have stopped
using some of the keys, so their values are not changed in GSettings and
hence not propagated to GConf. Those apps should really check the host
for socks, and if it's not empty, use it. So I guess there's nothing in
g-c-c / g-s-d that can be done to fix this.

[Bug 864618] Re: sets $LANG to a language name

2011-10-19 Thread Rodrigo Moya
Martin, my plan was to fix the issues that that patch tries to solve in
g-c-c 3.2.1 and then completely remove this patch from the package. I
could just fix a couple, since the others seemed a bit risky for a SRU,
so the patch from Gunnar fixes this bug really for Oneiric users. There
shouldn't be any impact for stable users, since we are getting the list
of languages from another place anyway, so commenting out that call
doesn't really affect much. My plan is to completely remove this Ubuntu-
specific patch for Precise and, if possible, in a late SRU for Oneiric.

So, this should be safe, has been tested for a couple of weeks now. The
2 variables are initialized at the beginning of the function, so no
problem with that.

[Bug 878486] Re: gsd-printer crashed with SIGABRT in __kernel_vsyscall()

2011-10-25 Thread Rodrigo Moya
There is a fix in git for this, but since I can't replicate it at all,
can someone please test the package in the lp:~ubuntu-desktop/gnome-
settings-daemon/ubuntu branch?

Upstream code is ok, the culprit is a patch we have on the Ubuntu
package, so proposing a branch with that patch removed

[Bug 662194] Re: Nautilus: 'Remember this application for ..." option should be made inactive by default

2011-03-23 Thread Rodrigo Moya
Doug, I left it checked by default because that's the upstream default.
I guess it won't harm at all to just have it checked by default for
files.

Also, in your patch, the 2nd gtk_toggle_button_set_active is redundant,
since it's already set to FALSE when creating the check button
