[Bug 647063] [NEW] Jerky h.264 video playback

2010-09-24 Thread Nicolas Delvaux
Public bug reported:

Playback is jerky with h.264 videos.
For example, if you watch a video in Totem with the Arte plugin (I maintain the
relative package), GStreamer only plays half frames.

Upstream bug report: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=630088

This bug was fixed by upstream in this commit:
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/gstreamer/gst-plugins-
good/commit/?id=9e7b890a22507f06a34ed7f7956fb02392348187

I confirm that this fix works as expected, h.264 videos are now smooth
(as in VLC or MPlayer).

I attached a debdiff.
Please, backport this to Maverick!

[Bug 839073] [NEW] Totem side panel does not remember the last used view

2011-09-01 Thread Nicolas Delvaux
Public bug reported:

This was a bug in Totem, which was fixed upstream:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=653895

It seems there is no plan to upgrade the Totem version in Oneiric to the
3.2 branch. So, is it possible to at least backport this patch?

Here is the direct link to the commit:
http://git.gnome.org/browse/totem/commit/?id=09d4692fc066a836a2d24d13893412f50658dd2b
The patch is quite small and apply successfully on the current Oneiric package.

I upgraded to empathy 3.12 via the following PPA and, for now, I don't
encounter this bug anymore.
https://launchpad.net/~gnome3-team/+archive/ubuntu/gnome3-staging

I just added the PPA to my system, "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get

fully upgrade my system to Gnome 3.12.

[Bug 1221367] [NEW] scroll-method set to "two-finger-scrolling" by default, even if the hardware does not support it

2013-09-05 Thread Nicolas Delvaux
Public bug reported:

On an up-to-date Saucy, I'm no longer able to "edge scroll".

There is a "Two fingers scroll" box in the Mouse & Touchpad panel. It is
checked by default but it is also grayed out (since the hardware does
not support multitouch), so I can't disable it.

On Raring, the box is still grayed out but it is unchecked by default
(edge scrolling was the default).

My only solution on Saucy is to install dconf-editor and manually change the
value of org.gnome.settings-daemon.peripherals.touchpad.scroll-method.
This is not user friendly.

Two fingers scrolling is a sane default, but it should fallback to edge
scrolling when the touchpad can't support it.

[Bug 1085118] Re: Transition to gstreamer 1.0

2012-12-02 Thread Nicolas Delvaux
Do you know if Debian plan to do the same transition soon (at least in
experimental)?
If possible, I would prefer fixing this in Debian and then let the update reach
Ubuntu in the usual way.

totem-plugin-arte just needs two change in its dependencies
(gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad becomes gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad and
gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg becomes gstreamer1.0-libav). Otherwise, it already
works.

[Bug 998406] Re: Scroll on video list forward or backward video

2012-05-12 Thread Nicolas Delvaux
Thank you for your bug report.
This problem also happen, for example, with the youtube plugin. So this is
rather a totem bug than a plugin bug.

It works on Oneiric.
As the Totem package from Precise is based on the same upstream version than in
Oneiric, this is probably a regression from an Ubuntu patch.

[Bug 954952] Re: Scrolling through the playlist with the mouse wheel also skips ahead/back in the current track

2012-05-19 Thread Nicolas Delvaux
This bug does not happen on Oneiric although the Precise package is
based on the same upstream tarball (Totem 3.0.1).

I managed to rebuild and install the Oneiric package on my Precise box, but it
did not solve this issue.
So I guess this is probably not a Totem bug, but rather a bug in a dependency
or an input bug (xorg?)

[Bug 954952] Re: Scrolling through the playlist with the mouse wheel also skips ahead/back in the current track

2012-06-18 Thread Nicolas Delvaux
The proposed patch works here. I did not notice any regression.
This is rather a workaround than a true fix, because the same file cause no bug
on Oneiric and Debian.

However, the patch seems fine. So it would be cool to include it in a
SRU in order to fix this annoying bug and then investigate the true
issue in Quantal (I just tested with the latest daily-live and the bug
is still there, even if Totem was updated to v3.4).

[Bug 954952] Re: Scrolling through the playlist with the mouse wheel also skips ahead/back in the current track

2012-06-20 Thread Nicolas Delvaux
Well, it seems the tutorial is out of date...

Here is what I think you should do:
(warning: I'm not an appointed reviewer so I may be wrong)

- Start from a clean repository (bzr branch lp:ubuntu/totem)

- Go in debian/patches and add your patch with a name like
"95_fixscrolling_through_playlist.patch".
I attached an quilt version of your patch, you should use it.

- edit the "series" file and add the patch in the list.

- bzr add debian/patches/YOUR_PATCH

- dch -i , bzr bd -- -S -us -uc, sudo pbuilder build DSC_FILE.dsc

- When it's over, install and test debs from /var/cache/pbuilder/result.

- If it works as expected, you can follow this:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/HowToFix#Committing_the_fix

Hope this help!

[Bug 803780] [NEW] can't install totem development headers

2011-06-30 Thread Nicolas Delvaux
Public bug reported:

Please add a libtotem-dev package which contains the package-config file
(totem.pc)and the totem headers.

This package will be a dependency of the totem-plugin-arte package (the
current one still depends on totem << 2.90 and has to ship totem headers
in it's sources).

2011-08-10 Thread Nicolas Delvaux
Please note that the 'Totem-1.0.gir' file is currently shipped in the 'totem'

I reported this bug: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=635451

[Bug 527119] Re: rhythmbox behavior

2010-03-31 Thread Nicolas Delvaux
Any update about this ?

This is paradoxical, Lucid (try to) bring many user experience improvements and
this is clearly a regression to me.
AFAIK, this is even not the upstream behaviour. eg: a "vanilla" rhythmbox close
when "close" is push and go into tray by just clicking on the Rhythmbox icon in
the systray (and this behaviour is configurable).

(I subscribed the "Canonical User Experience and Design team" to this,
sorry if I'm wrong)

[Bug 527119] Re: rhythmbox behavior

2010-04-01 Thread Nicolas Delvaux
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 270206 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/270206

I just tested from the last daily-live.

I confirm that rhythmbox remember its state: it opens in the state it was when
it has been closed.
(this is bug 270206 )

But, there is another usability bug in this report:
close button should close, open button should open.

Well, why all apps BUT rhythmbox just close when I click the close button ?
I think this is just inconsistent.

There is no problem by default on a vanilla gnome (or on Karmic,
Jaunty...).

However there is a kind a "workaround": in the status icon plugin
settings, select "status icon always visible". This way the close button
will just close rhythmbox but, unfortunately, minimizing to tray will
not work anymore...

I think this is more likely to be a bug in the new "Indicator Applet"
but I may be wrong.

[Bug 477160] Re: totem fails to play http streams

2010-06-29 Thread Nicolas Delvaux
@Trey Ethridge: Can you confirm that this is an Ubuntu specific bug?

For me (Ubuntu 10.04) it works when there is no proxy and when the proxy
doesn't need authentication.

For example, with the youtube plugin, I get this message when I try to
play a video:

gstsouphttpsrc.c(1096): gst_soup_http_src_parse_status ():
/GstPlayBin2:play/GstURIDecodeBin:uridecodebin1/GstSoupHTTPSrc:source:
407 Proxy Authentication Required

As stated in the upstream bug report (3 years ago!), it seems to depend
on the gstreamer plugin in use, because I get this other error message
when trying to play an mms:// (this also work fine without
authentication)

** Message: Error: Could not open resource for reading and writing.
gstrtspsrc.c(4862): gst_rtspsrc_open ():
/GstPlayBin2:play/GstURIDecodeBin:uridecodebin0/GstRTSPSrc:source:

issue in Rhythmbox (see #278269).
