[Bug 57174] Re: [edgy] nautilus-cd-burner uses 90% cpu making it unusable
I'm having similar trouble. I haven't yet tried it from the command line, but here are my symptoms: The "Write Image" dialog takes several minutes to appear, in the interim between when an the "write to disc" button is clicked or a .iso file's context menu's "write to disc" entry is selected, CPU usage goes up to 100%. When the dialog finally appears, the speed 0.0x is selected. Clicking the 0.0x selector triggers another long wait. When the list of speeds finally appears, it's populated with hundreds (if not thousands) of entries, starting with a "0.0x" at the bottom, followed by about 20 more "0.0x", followed by about 20 "0.1x" entries on up. I threw my mouse to the top of the screen to attempt to get to the fastest speed, but after several minutes, I was still only at "8.7x", which I selected and proceeded to burn. The burn appears to have gone OK, though it was not at 8.7x, it was closer to the max speed my drive supports (a burn of the knot-2 CD took about 3-4 minutes). -- [edgy] nautilus-cd-burner uses 90% cpu making it unusable https://launchpad.net/bugs/57174 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 211732] [NEW] [hardy] videos aren't playing with proper aspect ratio
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem After upgrading my G4-based Mac Mini from gutsy to hardy, I'm finding that videos are not showing up properly. Totem seems to think that the monitor (a 16:10 24" LCD, attached over a VGA cable, running at 1920x1200) is 4:3. When I play videos on it that, they are stretched horizontally, and cycling through the available aspect ratios (with the 'a' key) doesn't solve the problem (for 4:3 videos they start out appearing stretched out and only become more stretched out as totem tries other aspect ratios for the video). This leads me to believe that totem isn't figuring out the correct aspect ratio for the display. I've tried with mplayer and VLC, and both seem to work (for example, 4:3 videos appear with proper-width side bars). Totem under gutsy worked fine, too. The same videos running on my Thinkpad T61p laptop with a 1920x1200 screen show up just right using totem-xine and totem- gstreamer. I've tried both totem-xine and totem-gstreamer on the Mac Mini. Under totem-xine the problem is actually worse: 4:3 videos have no side bars, whereas with totem-gstreamer 4:3 videos have small (not large enough) sidebars. This happens using Xv or straight Xv-less plain X11 output. ** Affects: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [hardy] videos aren't playing with proper aspect ratio https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/211732 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to totem in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 198111] Re: Evolution and Google calendar
Well, Ubuntu doesn't develop Evolution, probably it's better to ask on the gnome bugzilla. The best option I've found so far is to get the private ical feed from each google calendar you want to access locally and add it as a calendar "On the Web". That way, the events show up in evolution and in the clock/calendar widget. This calendar will be read only as far as Evolution is concerned, but you can sign in to the google calendar web site to make changes and they'll be reflected locally. -- Evolution and Google calendar https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/198111 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

So I grepped $HOME/.local for x-extension-pdf and found a $HOME/.local/share/mime/application/x-extension-pdf.xml, which I've deleted. [Bug 232295] [NEW] Google calendar plugin does not properly handle "repeating events"
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution Now that the Google calendar plugin works (in 2.22.1.1-0ubuntu2), I've found a smaller bug. Here's my problem: I have my google calendar connected both with an "On the Web" calendar and a "Google" calendar in Evo. I have repeating events in my online google calendar. When I use the "On the web" calendar, all events show up properly as expected. When I use the "Google" calendar, I only see the first event in the repeating series. I believe there's a "Duration:" field in the XML which indicates how frequently to repeat the event that is being ignored by evo. I think it also makes mistakes with respect to the "Except on:" field. ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Google calendar plugin does not properly handle "repeating events" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/232295 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 225615] Re: Heavy memory leak in gvfsd-http
Confirmed in gvfsd-dav, too. Reproducable using gnome-user-share on machine 1, and connecting using network:// on machine 2. Transfer any file from Public on machine 1 Fire up top and watch the memory blow up. You'll also find that when the total size of the files copied exceeds free memory, that the copy process fails and the dav mount must be unmounted before it can be used again. I've been hunting through gvfsbackendhttp.c and soup-input-stream.c (and libsoup itself), but I haven't found the leak yet. Presumably there's some buffer that's not being freed somewhere after the data is pulled out... [Bug 97251] screen turns off after 20 minutes even when playing in fullscreen
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem This is new in feisty. When I watch videos in full screen, I usually stop using the mouse. When I do this, I find that the screen blanks after just about exactly 20 minutes. I posted this to ubuntu-users a couple weeks ago: Hi, I have two machines running feisty that I like to watch DVDs and videos on. Unfortunately, there's a feisty regression that's affecting me that causes the display to shut off after about 20 minutes exactly. I have screensaver and power management turned off, and I'm using totem, which should be squelching that anyway. I imagine it's either a problem with the opensource radeon driver, or some ACPI Xorg setting that gnome-power-manager isn't controlling. ** Affects: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- screen turns off after 20 minutes even when playing in fullscreen https://launchpad.net/bugs/97251 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 97251] Re: screen turns off after 20 minutes even when playing in fullscreen
After a little fiddling, I've discovered that gnome-screensaver is turning the screen off. This is despite the fact that totem is running in full screen, and despite the fact that the screensaver has been disabled ("Regard the computer as idle after: is set to "2 hours" , and "Activate screensaver when computer is idle" is unchecked. Also, in gnome-power-manager, "Put display to sleep when inactive for:" is set to never. I've determined this by running a video for 20 minutes without touching the mouse and noticing that the monitor goes to sleep kicks in. I then ran "killall gnome-screensaver" and ran the video again. This time the monitor did not turn off. ** Also affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed ** Changed in: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: gnome-power-manager => gnome-screensaver -- screen turns off after 20 minutes even when playing in fullscreen https://launchpad.net/bugs/97251 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
