[Bug 282179] Re: file-roller crashed with SIGSEGV in strcmp()

2009-01-26 Thread Martin Lindhe
I hit this crash aswell trying to extract a shady zip file.

Using "7z e filename" on the commandline worked to extract the file.
I believe the issue lies in special characters used in the filename.

Here's a output of "7z l filename":

[Bug 185387] Re: can not drag a file to a nautilus folder which uses list mode

2009-02-02 Thread Martin Lindhe
How come this is a "low importance" bug?
A patch has been availaible for several releases, comparable functionality is
available in KDE, Windows and Mac OS.
It is simply a feature that users expect to be there, and a must have
functionality for new Gnome users.

Hope that helps in resolving this issue.

forgotten between restarts.

[Bug 39860] Re: International Date/Time

2009-07-24 Thread Martin Lindhe
Martin Albisetti: in my opinion this indeed is a usability annoyance for
new users.

Take me (and probably the orginal reporter Mårten aswell) as an example:

We are Swedish people but we prefer the US english install, so we choose
english language during install.
However we tell the setup tool we live in Sweden, so timezone is configured
correctly.

Time is normally shown in 24 hours in Sweden but not in the the setup.
Also dates is displayed in US format which is wierd to read for us.

To fix this, we need to add this to /etc/default/locale (and reboot):

LC_TIME="sv_SE.UTF-8"

When done, Evolution and other software will display time & date correctly.

The best solution for this would be for the setup program to
automatically set LC_TIME for the country you select you live in during
setup. At least i suspect that will make more people happy "by default".

[Bug 338040] Re: Mouse nav buttons do not work in Nautilus

2009-08-03 Thread Martin Lindhe
This dont work correctly at all for me. Well it's not working in
nautilus, but works in Firefox (as it did before)

I installed Karmic on a clean install and use this mouse:

Bus 002 Device 003: ID 046d:c049 Logitech, Inc. G5 Laser Mouse

The trouble i am having is twofold:

1) The mouse click event is only working when Nautilus is in Icon view.
I prefer to use List view :-(

2) The back action is actually triggered by the Forward button (which
correctly goes Forward in Firefox). It should be triggered by the Back
button

With "works in firefox" i mean it works on the same setup with Firefox
3.0 and 3.5

A swap partition has labels, you set the label when you create one, like
this:

[Bug 442130] [NEW] Custom fstab causes duplicate entries for partitions in Places

2009-10-04 Thread Martin Lindhe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I wanted my disks to automount on startup, but I didnt want to address them
directly with device path, since it can change.
So instead i use the LABEL directive.

[Bug 442130] Re: Custom fstab causes duplicate entries for partitions in Places

2009-10-05 Thread Martin Lindhe
Upstream suggested a working work-around:

Instead of using LABEL=xx, specify disk with /dev/disk/by-label/xx
For UUID=xx it is /dev/disk/by-uuid/xx

This works great and it solves my reported problem, so this bug report may be
invalid now.
However since /etc/fstab supports specifying disks by LABEL=xx or UUID=xx and
various howto show this method, I think that this should still be supported.

[Bug 202069] Re: gnome-panel Clock can't order locations.

2009-10-05 Thread Martin Lindhe
You can work around this issue by:

  gconf-editor /apps/panel/applets/

and find the applet settings for your clock, mine was in

  /apps/panel/applets/clock_screen0/prefs

double click the "cities" entry. Now you can reorder the locations by
using the "Up" and "Down" buttons.

You may need to restart gnome for changes to take effect

[Bug 444066] [NEW] can not change label on a "linux swap" file system

2009-10-05 Thread Martin Lindhe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-disk-utility

Other file systems offer a method of changing the partition label. Linux
swap partitions support labels, but this feature is not exposed in
gnome-disk-utility.
