[Bug 530542] Re: Nautilus window quits on unmounting [when partition is launched from places menu]

2010-03-08 Thread Luke Symes
Patch series submitted to upstream bugzilla and mailing list email sent.

Working great with my internal hard drive, usb drive, and CD. After
upstream discussion I have implemented this so that the window you
unmount/eject/safely remove from will not be closed. I also made it so
when you press the Eject button, e.g. on your CD drive, no windows are
closed. The redirection to computer:// is still there, and maybe working
better (not being called twice now).

I've submitted a patch upstream that turns off the desktop border.
Tested it by renaming, changing theme and changing font. Hopefully it

Hi, can anyone confirm this is still an issue? I tried this out from the
computer:// folder, and was able to see an use the Eject context menu
item once the CD had automounted.

Thanks.

[Bug 16492] Re: Mouse pointer should disappear when keyboard is in use and mouse isn't

2010-03-22 Thread Luke Symes
The patch is not in working order. It is just a rough idea, and perhaps
I should remove it from here. Unclutter (from comment #20) seems like it
would work for all programs, although I just installed it and it didn't
make my cursor disappear when running "unclutter -keyword". The best
thing to do would be to enhance Unclutter and then have it installed by
default, and set to hide the cursor when just the keyboard is in use.

[Bug 507263] Re: Light 1px border around desktop

2010-03-27 Thread Luke Symes
Hi Bernhard. Your issue with the Homosapien window border theme is
entirely different from this issue. That theme has a white border around
windows by design. You'll have to either ask the author of the theme
about it or change it for yourself.

2010-03-27 Thread Luke Symes
Bernhard, the theme is definitely doing this. Do you know how to edit the theme
manually? Open up:
/home/$USER/.themes/Homosapien [Small | Medium |
Large]/metacity-1/metacity-theme-1.xml
Find the tag that starts like tags to have
value="0". There, no more white border.

[Bug 16492] Re: Mouse pointer should disappear when keyboard is in use and mouse isn't

2010-02-12 Thread Luke Symes
I had a look at this today, scrolling through pages of gtk & gdk stuff.
I have tried coding up a potential solution, and the preliminary patch
is attached. Please note, it is just an experiment, and has not been
tested in any way, it was just to see where I could solve the problem.

I think that it would be good for gtkwidget to have the main
implementation which would then be inherited everywhere, but widgets
need to be able to override it. Thus the patch needs more work so
gtktextview and gtkentry can replace the gtkwidget implementation with
their own.

[Bug 386517] Re: Unmounting a drive sends Nautilus to /media instead of computer://

2010-02-15 Thread Luke Symes
I have submitted a new patch upstream, thus am marking this "In progress".
My patch causes window slots displaying mount contents to be redirected to
computer:/// on unmount. I also included a change to the code that checks if a
slot should be closed on unmount. Previously the code only checked if you were
viewing a sub-directory, now it also checks if you are in the top-most
directory of the mount.

[Bug 453072] Re: Context menu for an USB pendrive shows "Unmount", "Eject" and "Safely Remove Drive"

2010-02-19 Thread Luke Symes
How about special casing the Desktop context menu:
"Eject" for Optical Drives and "Safely Remove" for anything else.
Advanced users can still "Unmount" in the Places sidebar context menu, while
average users will (hopefully) see the eject button and not need to worry about
what Unmount means.

[Bug 530542] Re: Nautilus window quits on unmounting [when partition is launched from places menu]

2010-03-02 Thread Luke Symes
I've looked through the problem and believe I have a solution. I have
tried to test it out with different combinations of mount folders open
etc. At the moment, the main reported problem is solved here, I can
launch partition from Places and unmount without losing the window.
Thus, taking it upstream with patch very soon.

[Bug 507263] Re: Light 1px border around desktop

I don't have maverick installed, but i checked out the relevant file of
maverick's nautilus:

Line 573 is what had fixed this bug, and it's still there, so I don't know why
you would be getting the 1px border. Can anyone else confirm the desktop border
is back?
