[Bug 652848] [NEW] Fails to connect to Google Apps Talk

2010-10-01 Thread Kenneth O'Brien
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

Description:Ubuntu maverick (development branch)
Release:10.10

empathy:
  Installed: 2.32.0-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 2.32.0-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 2.32.0-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://ie.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I've used Empathy for many months to connect to my Google Apps Talk
service. Now, in Maverick, with the same settings I get a "No reason
specified" error when I try to connect. My other Google Talk accounts
work fine but this is a Google Apps service for my domain. I haven't
changed any config on either end.

** Affects: empathy (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 652848] Re: Fails to connect to Google Apps Talk

2010-10-01 Thread Kenneth O'Brien
This is not a standard Google Talk account and so is not a duplicate
bug. Google talk service works fine for my standard gmail accounts, but
this is Google Talk for my domain http://www.google.com/apps/.

I have talk.google.com as the server as it's what I used in my config on
Lucid.

[Bug 652848] Re: Fails to connect to Google Apps Talk

2010-10-01 Thread Kenneth O'Brien
I've confirmed that it's not a setting on Google's side as I can connect
to it perfectly with Pidgin. I can import that account from Pidgin to
Empathy and I get the same error. "No reason specified".

Hmm, connection achieved, with same config values. Writing this off as
network error on Googles side or an update to Empathy.

[Bug 640018] Re: empathy throws untrusted certificate warning on google chat services using google apps (non-google domains)

2010-10-02 Thread Kenneth O'Brien
I believe this is because the certificate is signed for Google and not
for the end user domain. So is this not expected behaviour?

[Bug 549789] Re: Can't add Google Talk Account

2010-03-27 Thread Kenneth O'Brien
This sounds like an error on Google's side or your network. I can
successfully add gtalk accounts. Try again later and google some guides
about how to add accounts to Empathy.
