[Bug 1401207] Re: No 'Select-by-word characters' property

2015-05-20 Thread Gediminas Paulauskas
Word char settings have been resurrected in gnome-terminal 3.16 / vte
0.40

I have compiled vte2.91 version 0.40 and colon (:) is no longer a word
char, as was set before.

[Bug 307306] Re: upgrade to 2:1.2.99.2-0ubuntu1 makes session utterly slow

2009-01-26 Thread Gediminas Paulauskas
Xorg on my also used 100% of one of cores. But I was not able to solve this
without recompiling packages.
 * Nothing changed if I killed gnome-power-manager or gnome-settings-daemon.
 * I downgraded libxrandr to intrepid version, and the related packages - no
change.
 * Removed libgnome-desktop-11 in favor of libgnome-desktop-7 and downgraded
many gnome packages to intrepid version, although they were working mostly fine
for a couple of weeks.

Strangely enough, only after I downgraded gnome-session, the high cpu
use by xorg has stopped.

Dell XPS 1330 using nvidia x drivers so intrepid xorg, other than that
mostly jaunty packages.

[Bug 258190] Re: gnome-screensaver doesn't let me use my fingerprint reader

2009-01-08 Thread Gediminas Paulauskas
I can confirm that gnome-screensaver does not accept fingerprints.

After I enabled pam_thinkfinger module, login/gdm/sudo password prompts
changed to "Password or swipe finger", but in screensaver it still reads
"Password", localized, and does nothing if I swipe my finger.

[Bug 1228322] [NEW] nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in g_object_unref()

2013-09-20 Thread Gediminas Paulauskas
Public bug reported:

Right clicked on the Files icon in the Unity launcher, and selected one
of the default folders, that in fact does not exist. Got an empty
dialog, and after some time and clicks on the nautilus launcher, it
crashed.

The mentioned non-existing folder is localized Pictures: in Lithuanian
(lt) it is translated as "Paveikslėliai", but I have renamed it to
"Vaizdai", including in ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs . The quicklist
contains both names.

[Bug 249373] Re: gnome-session storing broken in intrepid

2009-03-04 Thread Gediminas Paulauskas
The upstream bug is still "confirmed" and reading it seems that there
are still many unresolved problems. So the status of this bug is "In
Progress" at most.

But as evidenced in gnome bug, some of the regressions are from the apps
which have inadvertently removed XSMP support rather than the new gnome-
session not working correctly.

[Bug 252961] [NEW] Remove "Configure display settings" trayicon

2008-07-29 Thread Gediminas Paulauskas
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

The new RandR 1.2 based Display Capplet puts an icon into notification
area, with only one option - "Configure display settings". It cannot be
hidden or removed, and serves no real purpose for most users -- so
basically pollutes the systray like Windows display drivers do. Users
can always access this capplet from System > Preferences menu.

[Bug 279158] [NEW] gnome-spell a redundant dependency of ubuntu-desktop

2008-10-06 Thread Gediminas Paulauskas
Public bug reported:

ubuntu-desktop depends on gnome-spell, yet no app is using it.

The only former user was evolution, but since 2.23.1 it switched to
libgtkhtml-editor which provides spelling via libenchant, and does not
use gnome-spell at all.

So dependency should be removed from ubuntu-desktop, and suggests
removed from evolution.
