[Bug 116802] Re: automatic filters for thumbs.db and desktop.ini files

2008-04-25 Thread Gabriel Speckhahn
I think it would be easier if Rhythmbox scanned for files known to
contain audio *only*, since the list of file types it can handle is much
smaller than the list of types it can't. It still occurs in the latest
version of Rhythmbox in Hardy.

[Bug 191886] [NEW] Generic text icon showing up for many mimetypes

2008-02-14 Thread Gabriel Speckhahn
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-icon-theme

On an up-to-date hardy install, all icon themes descending from gnome-
icon-theme show up the text-x-generic icon for many filetypes, eg.
office documents, compressed archives, ISO images and so on. Examining
/usr/share/icons/gnome/scalable/mimetypes I found out there are many
gnome-.svg icons that are supposed to show up as icons for the
file types I specified before. Naming them as such, though, seems to
have been rendered inefficient, because when renaming these symlinks to
remove the gnome- prefix and updating the cache using gtk-update-icon-
cache -f, the problem was solved. Also, when I change the icon theme to
a completely independent Mac OS X-like theme I downloaded myself, all
filetypes show the right icons. Using gnome-icon-theme 2.21.4-0ubuntu1.

[Bug 195083] [NEW] Cancel dialog buttons' wording is confusing

2008-02-24 Thread Gabriel Speckhahn
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

When clicking the "Cancel" button to interrupt a burning session,
Brasero presents the following dialog:

"Do you really want to quit?"

Interrupting the process may make disc unusable.
 [*Cancel*] [Continue]

It may make users confused, as they may not know if clicking "Cancel"
will cancel the recording or their request, and "Continue" (the button
to actually stop it) may mistakingly lead them to believe Brasero will
continue burning, not cancel it, leading to possible data/media loss.

[Bug 82487] HPLIP appears twice in Control Center

2007-01-31 Thread Gabriel Speckhahn
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hplip

In Feisty, the entry for the HPLIP toolbox appears twice in the Control
Center, one entry next to another. I went to /usr/share/applications and
noticed there were hplip.desktop and hplip-kubuntu.desktop, even though
I never installed the kubuntu-desktop pacakge or anything like that on
this machine. Even after I deleted the extra .desktop file, the two
entries were still there, and they're both functional.

[Bug 88647] Re: 2.0 beta6: various problems because oscar->icq

2007-03-16 Thread Gabriel Speckhahn
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: gaim

- Upgrading 2.0 beta5 to beta6 seems to have introduces various problems. Most
of them seem to stem from the fact that all account references that have been
created using the old "oscar" protocol are now names "icq". The most serious
problem I encountered was the fact, that ALL my icq ("oscar") OTR-keys and
fingerprints were no longer found by gaim until I manually renamed all
references in the config. Fundamental changes like this should be communicated
to the user to give him a chance to know what happened.
