[Bug 34788] Confusing Hewlett Packard printer drivers categories
Public bug reported: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34788 Affects: libgnomeprintui (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: Using Ubuntu Dapper FL5, Gnome desktop When adding or configuring printers information, there are two categories covering Hewlett Packard printers: HP and HP (HPLIP). This is confusing and counter-intuitive. This is somewhat related to Bug #24999 , however this is about having two entirely different *categories* of printer drivers, which is confusing, not to mention having drivers present in one category but not in the other as stated in Bug #24999. A better aproach may be to combine both categories or else, although I don't know the reasons for having a separate HPLIP category to begin with. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 44436] Re: disks-manager wrongly reports DVD drive as CD-ROM
I am not sure why this has been categorize low priority. I added some more information to the upstream bug. I really think this is an important usability issue, as more people use DVD-R/W drives and this seems to imply Ubuntu is incable of rightly identifying this "simple" device. I deal with lots of new Ubuntu users and it's getting hard to explain this, if it is only a label problem. -- disks-manager wrongly reports DVD drive as CD-ROM https://launchpad.net/bugs/44436 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 332355] Re: Empathy doesn't alert to new email messages
I am raising this to medium, as per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Importance: * A bug that has a moderate impact on a core application. My rationale is that Empathy has replaced Pidgin as the core IM application in Ubuntu, and as such there still is an expectation that it should have the same or better/more features. In some cases like this one it's not and it's important functionality present across several services (I checked MSN, GTalk, Yahoo). It's also functionality present in other IM clients in their respective OS, which maintains the expectation even for new Ubuntu users. I took a brief look to the upstream bug and it's blocked by two other bugs, including another spec and undrafting the original spec. If you look at the spec for this it's been worked on for quite some time now so it's not something that has been ignored, or dismissed. I'll see if I can get more information on how to best help upstream with this. -- Empathy doesn't alert to new email messages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/332355 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

@Pedro, I am reopening this as a bug, something is wrong when having Flash can intercepta standard OS file dialog. I can confirm this same problem in Maverick using the latest Adobe Flash for 64-bit. This seems to be website-specific. Try to upload an image to Flickr with Flash enabled - no preview. Try to upload an image to your Launchpad profile with Flash enabled - preview is OK. [Bug 305230] [NEW] SSL certificate for Ekiga.net is self signed, prevents registration
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ekiga Using Intrepid 8.10. The "get an ekiga.net SIP account" opens Firefox which in turn reports this error: www.ekiga.net uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because it is self signed. (Error code: sec_error_untrusted_issuer) This doesn't trigger any mechanism to bypass the error, thus preventing registration. Yes I know how to add an exception for an invalid cert, but this really should not be a site where self-signed certificates are used. the required procedure to bypass the error is not trivial to new users, and does not help trusting Ekiga as an application or as a service.
