I had a lot of performance issues with nvidia-driver-535 and nautilus too (installed by default with 24.04 and my RTX 2080 card), but on X11. Loading /usr/share/ directory could take 10-15 seconds. Hello, Same problem here on my laptop, a Thinkpad P14s Gen1 (AMD Ryzen 4750u). Problem is occurring on a fresh install of Ubuntu 24.04.1 in the Wayland session, but not on 24.10. I did not try X11 on 24.04.1, because it is too much of a concession in my opinion. It seems that this issue was solved 7 months ago in Mutter 46.3 : https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/merge_requests/3850 I don't know if it is planned to have this version or a newer one (46.8 is the last one ?). Hi ! I saw a positive difference in performance for my desktop PC (RTX 2080) on 24.10 by switching to the Nvidia proprietary 560 driver (not the open one) and disabling GSP by adding "nvidia.NVreg_EnableGpuFirmware=0" in "GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX" and updating Grub. Kernel is the lastest from the Ubuntu repo.
