[Bug 2103700] Re: gnome-shell crashed with SIGSEGV shortly after login, but session keeps running

2025-03-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
This usually means the last session crashed during logout, which you
don't really notice at the time.

Most likely it will be bug 2099658, but there's not enough information to prove
it yet. Try steps 2-3:

[Bug 2100475] Re: Whole display freezes in 1 second interval for a while

2025-03-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks. As mentioned in comment #4, the recurring log messages are bug
1857392. But the fact that yours happen so frequently is unusual. The
messages tend to happen when the dock gets recreated.

The second issue I can see is:

bře 20 18:30:26 payne-desktop kernel: workqueue:
nv_drm_handle_hotplug_event [nvidia_drm] hogged CPU for >1us 35
times, consider switching to WQ_UNBOUND

So those two seemingly unrelated issues could have the same root cause
if the graphics driver thinks a monitor is being constantly unplugged
and replugged. That suggests a problem with the monitor, its cable or in
the port it is plugged into. I strongly recommend trying a new monitor
cable.

[Bug 2102343] Re: [SRU] power: Add increase power consuption description for automatic suspend

2025-03-20 Thread Bin Li
The patch on upstream is based on GNOME48, the Power settings have also
been restructured to aid navigation, on GNOME48 there are two pages, one
is General, 'Automatic Suspend' is in another page which is named 'Power
Saving'.

But on GNOME46 or GNOME47, there is only one page, and the 'Automatic
Suspend' will be in another dialog when you click 'Automatic Suspend'.
So on GNOME47, this warning will be show in 'Automatic Suspend' window.

commit 8666e5ef57354f455daee459489544b3b1730b9e
Author: Matthijs Velsink
Date: Wed Jul 10 01:37:47 2024 +0200

power: Remove separate dialog for Automatic Suspend

Instead, put them in the Power Saving page as per the mockups. This also
adjusts the mnemonics to be unique.

When there are no batteries, we drop the preferences group title and
instead put it on the switch row for the ac suspend.
