[Bug 2102144] Re: System Monitor crashes frequently on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

2025-03-14 Thread Nathan Teodosio
Thanks for opening the bug as suggested in Discourse.

Unfortunately, Apport uploaded no crash file to the bug. Can please you
confirm no such crash is available in the /var/crash/ directory? If yes,
please attach it here.

Otherwise, please from now on start the program from the terminal this
way:

  gnome-system-monitor |& tee system-monitor.log

and then, once the program crashes, upload system-monitor.log to this
bug report. That might turn out to still be insufficient but it's a
first step.

[Bug 2102675] [NEW] Extremely slow file operations, moving, copying. making directories, etc

2025-03-14 Thread Daniel Buscombe
Public bug reported:

Since upgrading to 24.04.2 LTS release 24.04, I have noticed worsening
performance for file I/O. No hardware defects are reported. No crazy
system messages. Rsync is much slower than before, to the point of not
being useful at all. Same for cp, mv, and graphical operations using
Nautilus. htop shows that CPU and memory are barely being used

[Bug 2100928] Re: gnome-shell crashed with SIGSEGV in clutter_content_invalidate()

2025-03-14 Thread Xavier Guillot
Hi, thanks. Do I need to remove completely gnome extensions (and delete
folders / files) or only deactivate them ?

When the crash occurred, only 3 were still running (other were inactive
due to incompatibility with Gnome 48) : Unite, Dash to Dock and Vitals.

They need to be completely deleted because disabling is voluntary and
buggy extensions can still cause problems when disabled.

[Bug 2102343] [NEW] [SRU] power: Add increase power consuption description for automatic suspend

2025-03-14 Thread Bin Li
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

There is an EU directive, ErP Lot 6((EU) 2023/826) : https://eur-
lex.europa.eu/eli/reg/2023/826/oj/eng

It needs add a warning when disabling power management in Gnome settings
such that there's a note on the power buttons that 'disabling sleep will
increase energy consumption'

https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/issues/3353
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/merge_requests/3082/commits

[Test Plan]

 * Find a machine with 24.04
 * Check if there is a warning when disabling power management.

[Where problems could occur]

 * This patch is picked from upstream, the patch add a warning label,
it's low risk.
