[Bug 2047356] Re: gvfs-disks2-volume-monitor and gsd-housekeeping processes can eat a lot of CPU with k3s workload

2024-11-15 Thread Mossroy
Many thanks for the PPA.
I've tested it with the test-case mentioned in the description. On an Ubuntu
24.04.1 amd64, with an Intel Core i7-9750H CPU. And a k3s v1.30.6+k3s1

Without the PPA (i.e with gvfs* packages version 1.54.01ubuntu2), gvfs-
disks2-volume-monitor eats an average of around 33% of a CPU

With the PPA (i.e. with gvfs* packages upgraded to 1.54.0-1ubuntu2ppa1),
on the same test-case, gvfs-disks2-volume-monitor eats an average of
around 22% of a CPU

So it's an improvement, but I can't say it really solve the issue of
gvfs-disks2-volume-monitor CPU usage

I've tested that twice, with a reboot between each package down/upgrade.

[Bug 2088309] [NEW] screen blanking does not work

2024-11-15 Thread Jurgen Schellaert
Public bug reported:

For the last few weeks, my desktop screen fails to blank after the
timeout set in gnome-control-center. Blanking works properly after a
reboot but then - especially after resuming from suspend - it will
randomly fail to do so, either persistently or intermittently.

I am currently using gnome-control-center 1:46-4 but the issue was
already present with the previous version. Video driver is nvidia-
driver-550 from the ubuntu repositories.

I suspect this may have to do with kernel code (too.) I did not
experience this problem until I updated to the latest 6.8 kernel (I
believe that is 6.8.0-48). I have since updated to 6.11.0-1007 but this
has not made any difference.

On a side note, I seem to be experiencing issues with all nvidia 5xx
drivers. 535 fails to resume from suspend and 555 only gives me wayland.
When I install 560 (from the graphics-drivers ppa), I get a kernel crash
when I resume from suspend. I do not know about 555 and 560 but 535 used
to work fine.
