You have been subscribed to a public bug: Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS I enable Settings-Accessibility-Pointing and Clicking-Mouse Keys. This has to be enabled every time I boot up. This should persist. [Bug 2020245] [NEW] cannot login to different user - gdmflexiserver not found
You have been subscribed to a public bug: when i want to start another user session from within the first one, i cannot do that. there is no option in the menu and from the lock-screen using the login button, it doesn't work because gdmflexiserver is not found . there is no package containing this command/binary *sigh* to make some fun out of this - wasn't linux been advertised as OS with multi-user/multi-session capability ? (which windows didn't have at that time?) seems that it's not important to many people.otherwise i can't explain, why this won't work by default. ** Affects: gdm3 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bot-comment -- cannot login to different user - gdmflexiserver not found https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2020245 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm3 in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 2017716] Re: Folders and files frequently need to be clicked twice
The issue seems to be related. The video shows a feature I had not noticed yet but that is certainly there: the problem does not manifest if I take the "precaution" of first moving the mouse outside nautilus before I click on a different folder. What I mean is: 1. open nautilus 2. click on a folder to open it 3. move back (I am using the side button on my mouse to do so) 4. move the cursor outside nautilus (no clicking required here) 5. return to the window and click on a different folder; it instantly opens Without step 4, step 5 is unpredictable - sometimes the folder opens at once, sometimes nothing happens and the folder needs to be clicked again at least once. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2017716 Title: Folders and files frequently need to be clicked twice To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/2017716/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Adding here: - Logged in as ubuntu user and launched Firefox, LibreOffice and gedit: https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/H3WVmVkgJh/ - Switched user to fabiomirmar and opened Thunderbird, skype and gnome-calculator: https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/By3q2kf8Nq/ - Switched back to the ubuntu user and I see its apps are still running, and so are the processes for the fabiomirmar user: https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/DxMtJ2MVnN/ Also tested the "init 3" / "init 5" tests you mentioned. After the tests mentioned above, I switched to multi-user.target: https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/DXPjRYsfQC/ Then went back to graphical.target: https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/3ghpd2VtVZ/ Marking verification-done-jammy. Let me know if I missed anything. ** Tags removed: verification-needed-jammy ** Tags added: verification-done-jammy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2020641 Title: Installing or removing apps through snap-store launches another gdm session To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/2020641/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 2020641] Re: Installing or removing apps through snap-store launches another gdm session
** Description changed: gdm3 version: 42.0-1ubuntu7.22.04.2 Ubuntu version: Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS [Description] Installing or removing snap packages through NICE DCV on AWS will cause the user to be kicked out of their session. The issue happens on machines running nvidia GPUs (passed through to a VM) with the GRID driver installed as well as the normal nvidia driver. [Steps to reproduce] Simply install or remove any snap through the snap store will trigger the issue, for example: $ snap install skype also running any of the following commands will also trigger the issue: $ snap connect skype:opengl :opengl $ snap disconnect skype:opengl :opengl $ snap connect skype:camera :camera $ snap disconnect skype:camera :camera After further investigation I was able to pin down the issue to udev and could reproduce the issue by running the following command: $ sudo udevadm trigger --parent-match=/sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1e.0/drm/card0 where "/sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1e.0/drm/card0" corresponds to the nvidia GPU of my instance. A more generic way of triggering the issue would be running: $ sudo udevadm trigger [Solution] I have investigated the issue and discovered that it lies within GDM3 in the "udev_is_settled" function (daemon/gdm-local-display-factory.c). In the case where the udev is settled the line "g_clear_signal_handler (&factory->uevent_handler_id, factory->gudev_client);" at the end of the function is triggered however this is not the case when the function returns early and will lead to the user being logged out. In its current implementation there are three different return points before "g_clear_signal_handler" is executed where the udev devices would already have settled. I have written a patch that fixes this issue by making sure the function "g_clear_signal_handler" is executed in all cases for which the udev is settled. [possible regressions] Excessive clearing of the signal handler might cause a case where it is not being re-initialized the next time it is needed. + + [Base test plan] + + This test plan is to make sure the issue listed in the description + section is fixed. + + 1. Create a new nvidia accelerated VM instance on AWS with NICE DCV and + the GRID driver (or normal driver) installed. Make sure the GPU is being + fully passed through to the instance (do not slice the GPU). + + 2. Access the instance using the NICE DCV client and login. + + 3. Install any snap package (E.g $ snap install skype). + + 4. Verify there are no new sessions being launched with the user being gdm. + $ sudo loginctl + Also make sure that you don't get logged out of your own session. + + 5. Repeat step 4 while running the following command as well: + $ sudo udevadm trigger + + 6. If the current session stays active and no new sessions spawn while + performing step 3 or 5, the test succeeded. + + [Extra tests] + + This test plan is a sanity check to make sure no regressions have been + created. + + 1. Login to the session + + 2. Run a few applications (E.g: Nautilus, gedit, terminal, firefox, + skype, libreoffice, mpv, vlc...) and use some on the built in features + (E.g: the launcher, search...) + + 3. Switch sessions without terminating the current one. + + 4. Login as a separate user and repeat step 2 + + 5. Go back to the first session and make sure everything behaves as + expected + + 6. Switch to init 3: + $ init 3 + and go back to init 5 afterwards: + $ init 5 + + 7. If no issues were found, the test succeeded. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2020641 Title: Installing or removing apps through snap-store launches another gdm session To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/2020641/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 2022369] [NEW] 200% scaling on wayland touchpad feels laggy

[Bug 2020782] Re: Xdcv: Changing display scale setting and reverting it fails
I was getting some inconsistent and confusing results on my tests, so I decided to start from scratch with a fresh VM (qemu) and also a fresh Workspace (AWS). In a freshly installed Jammy VM (on qemu, not AWS), out of the box we have factional scaling disabled, so I tried changing scale to 200% and I do hit the error (but the scale DOES change): https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/yVwnmqbTTJ/ When I try to revert, I hit the error again and gnome freezes: https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/nYpqJDmr5x/ I then upgraded the packages in the PPA: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:vanvugt/mutter sudo apt update sudo apt upgrade Rebooted the VM When I still hit the error both when trying to change the scale to 200% (still does change it, though): https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/V7MmKCjc4W/ And also when trying to revert it (gnome freezes): https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/dbWZFQGr9t/ Package versions: https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/c4WsgPVnxr/ Also did the same tests with a fresh Workspace: Tested the very same thing in a Workspace: Out of the box fractional scaling is disabled, so I tried changing scale to 200% and I hit the error (but it does change): https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/gSZ5rfm7vF/ When I try to revert, I hit the error and then it causes the problem reported in https://launchpad.net/bugs/1924689: https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/NHY62YvxCG/ (So both Workspaces and local VM hit the same problem, but when reverting Workspaces will hit LP#1924689 and the local VM will freeze gnome) I then rebooted the Workspace without upgrading any package and tried the same steps again, and I still have the same problem. I then upgraded the packages in the PPA: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:vanvugt/mutter sudo apt update sudo apt upgrade Rebooted the Workspace, and I still hit the error both when trying to change the scale to 200% (still does change it, though): https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/977wzx6sxW/ And when I try to revert: https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/D2VZv2J7QV/ Packages: https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/mDKy4wWyWZ/ So, unless I'm missing something, apparently the same problem happens with fractional scaling disabled and also with the packages from the PPA. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2020782 Title: Xdcv: Changing display scale setting and reverting it fails To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/2020782/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
