[Bug 1969574] Re: Can not select app with mouse in workspace

2022-04-20 Thread Saeed
I just notice that this happens with WebStorm + PhpStorm windows randomly!
I have no idea this is a gnome-shell bug or IDE itself ...

[Bug 1969577] [NEW] Small icon in Activity Overview

2022-04-20 Thread Hartono
Public bug reported:

I just installed Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. As soon as I installed, I noticed that the
icons present in "Show Applications" are smaller than expected (i.e. smaller
than that used to be in other versions). So here it is:

[Bug 1969577] Re: Small icon in Activity Overview

2022-04-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report. I was wondering how many complaints this
issue would get but you seem to be the first Ubuntu user to notice it.

Although removing ubuntu-dock is a workaround, I think the issue is
fundamentally bad logic in gnome-shell.

The problem also happens on some narrower aspect ratio screens even
without ubuntu-dock, so the problem seems to be that the icon grid is
only designed for 16:9 and only when there's no dock on the side :(

[Bug 1965123] Re: Active launchers area pixels missing

2022-04-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The bug looks like a missing texture. Rounded rectangles are made up of
5 solid rectangles plus 4 rounded corner textures. I have only seen the
rounded corners go missing in:

 * Nvidia bug 1876632
 * Upstream bug https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/4477 (fixed
in gnome-shell 42.rc)

Maybe it's the second one because gnome-shell 42~beta-1ubuntu2 was
missing that fix. The fix should already be released in gnome-shell
42.0.

It works fine on an amd64 desktop, some questions

1. Do you download and try to play locally or do you provide the https
URL to totem?

2. do you get more output if you do
$ G_MESSAGES_DEBUG=all totem

3. could you try to
$ G_DEBUG=fatal_warnings totem

and if it's crashing, report the bug or provide the stacktrace

[Bug 1969251] [NEW] Evolution dark background in HTML message (Jammy 22.04)

2022-04-20 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When using a dark theme in Jammy (22.04) beta, Evolution will display a
dark background with black text for HTML emails in the message preview.
Previously in Impish, the background was white with dark text.

This only occurs when using a dark theme, If you use a light theme, the
background of the email is also light.

Release: Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish (development branch)

Please see attached screenshot.

helli, I just turned off all extension and restarted but this is still
happening. I did however notice that I don't have this issue if I log in
using Ubuntu on Xorg so it might be Wayland related.

[Bug 1969584] [NEW] Evolution does not allow editing email content on Wayland

2022-04-20 Thread Marian Rainer-Harbach
Public bug reported:

This is very similar to bug #1966418, but only concerns the email edit
window.

Before bug #1966418 was fixed, Evolution did not display email contents
when running under Wayland. Starting Evolution with
WEBKIT_DISABLE_COMPOSITING_MODE=1 worked around the issue.

Now that #1966418 is fixed, displaying email contents works again even
without the workaround. However, it's still not possible to write/edit
an email. The message area is greyed out and unresponsive.

When running under X or using the above workaround, editing emails
works. So the issue seems to be the same as in #1966418, but for the
edit window.

[Bug 1969598] [NEW] no auto-focus application after workspace switch

2022-04-20 Thread Sergey Ivanov
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

1) Setup at least two workspaces.

2) open at least one GUI application on one of them. Another one is
focused and no application opened.

3) switch workspaces from 'empty' to 'with application'

Expected result: last focused GUI application from the new focused workspace
will be auto-focused again. And all shortcuts right after the switch will be
applicable to a given application.

Actual result: application is not focused, all shortcuts are applicable
to desktop only.

[Bug 1969601] [NEW] context menu cut, after screen resolution is changed

2022-04-20 Thread Mateusz Łącki
Public bug reported:

I have a 4K monitor. If I open Nautilus window when display is in 1920x1080
resolution, then change the resolution to 3840x2160 AND change "scaling" to
200% then the context menu appears cut.
Changing the resolution and leaving "scaling" at 100% does not trigger the bug.

That is the content is scaled by 200% correctly, but the bounds of the
context menu window seems not transformed and is twice too small to fit
the content.

When I open a new window (I do not need to kill already opened window).
Then the right-click context menu is fine, in the new window. In the
"old" window it remains cut.

[Bug 1969602] [NEW] gnome-shell with "Focus on hover" behaves wrongly when alt-tabbing

2022-04-20 Thread Robin Sheat
Public bug reported:

I have set gnome to "focus on hover", i.e. focus follows mouse. If I
alt-tab to bring a window to the front but the mouse is over another
window, then the hovered-over window will reclaim focus and the window I
raised will typically get covered up again.

In previous gnome versions, if I explicitly focussed a window via
keyboard shortcuts, it remained focussed and I think this is the
preferred behaviour.

There doesn't seem to be any other location in the code that sets
`XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP` and this code hasn't changed between the two
versions listed above.

Is this because of a change to `gdm` ? Does it work if you switch to
lightdm?

`gdm` sets this from the session definition, which is patched into
gnome-session by

debian/patches/ubuntu/ubuntu-sessions.patch

(the patch file has changed between revisions but mostly to remove a
community session)

gdm fetches this @ daemon/gdm-session.c:2612  get_session_desktop_names()

filename = g_strdup_printf ("%s.desktop", get_session_name (self));
g_debug ("GdmSession: getting desktop names for file '%s'", filename);
keyfile = load_key_file_for_file (self, filename, NULL, NULL);
if (keyfile != NULL) {
  gchar **names;

  names = g_key_file_get_string_list (keyfile,
G_KEY_FILE_DESKTOP_GROUP,
  "DesktopNames", NULL, NULL);

Can't see any obvious changes in GDM between Impish and Jammy that would
cause this just from looking at the diffs though.

[Bug 1969619] [NEW] RDP Sharing appears on by default in jammy

2022-04-20 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

Summary
===
1. From the Ubuntu 22.04 live session (or a clean install), Open the Settings
app.
2. Open the Sharing page. It looks like Remote Desktop sharing is turned on.

On further investigation, it is not actually on.

More details

This issue affects both the live session and the initial install. (Probably
would show up for any new user.)

1. Before opening the Settings app, the gnome-remote-desktop service is
running. I think this is expected.

$ systemctl status --user gnome-remote-desktop.service
\u25cf gnome-remote-desktop.service - GNOME Remote Desktop
 Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/user/gnome-remote-desktop.service; enable>
Active: active (running) since Wed 2022-04-20 08:07:44 EDT; 17s ago
   Main PID: 1611 (gnome-remote-de)
  Tasks: 4 (limit: 4603)
 Memory: 13.8M
CPU: 66ms
 CGroup: /user.slice/user-1000.slice/user@1000.service/app.slice/gnome-remo>
 \u2514\u25001611 /usr/libexec/gnome-remote-desktop-daemon

Apr 20 08:07:44 ubuntu2204 systemd[1483]: Starting GNOME Remote Desktop...
Apr 20 08:07:44 ubuntu2204 gnome-remote-desktop-daemon[1611]: libEGL warning:
pci id for fd 9: 1b36:0100, driver (null)
Apr 20 08:07:44 ubuntu2204 systemd[1483]: Started GNOME Remote Desktop.

Also, the RDP enable gsettings key is turned off.

$ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.remote-desktop.rdp enable
false

2. When I open the Sharing page, the gsettings key turns to true

and systemctl shows me an error where it tried to enable RDP:
Apr 20 08:12:50 ubuntu2204 gnome-remote-de[1611]: RDP TLS certificate and key
not configured properly

3. So then I open Remote Desktop Sharing and turn it off then on and
then systemctl shows me that is working correctly.

Apr 20 08:14:32 ubuntu2204 systemd[1483]: Starting GNOME Remote Desktop...
Apr 20 08:14:32 ubuntu2204 gnome-remote-desktop-daemon[2801]: libEGL warning: p>
Apr 20 08:14:32 ubuntu2204 systemd[1483]: Started GNOME Remote Desktop.
Apr 20 08:14:32 ubuntu2204 gnome-remote-de[2801]: RDP server started

Note in particular the final line: "RDP server started". That tells us
whether RDP is running or not. There would be a similar line for VNC.
This line didn't show in the initial state in step 1.

What should happen
==
The Sharing master witch should be off by default.

Remote Desktop should show off by default and should not attempt to turn
on just by opening the Sharing page.

Guesses and Further Investigation Needed
==
Is there a gsettings key for the master sharing on/off switch?

I think there may have been a logic bug when the RDP sharings were
backported from gnome-control-center 42. This code was originally in
gtk4 so some rewriting was necessary.

I didn't see this issue in a Fedora 36 Beta instance. Sharing showed off
by default.

Also, we did add this patch:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-remote-desktop/-/commit/7f4ef31fd3
I think that patch is necessary but maybe that changed what
gnome-control-center was expecting to see.

[Bug 1969622] [NEW] save file dialog doesn't allow saving to a directory without files

2022-04-20 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

Impact
--
Ubuntu uses xdg-desktop-portal-gnome for the save dialog for snaps (like
Firefox or Chromium). xdg-desktop-portal-gnome in Ubuntu 22.04 uses gtk4
This issue also affects gnome-text-editor which uses gtk4 directly.

Attempting to save a file to an empty folder won't work in many cases
because the Save button is insensitive (unable to be clicked).

Test Case
-
View this page with the Firefox or Chromium snaps.
Press Ctrl+S to try to save this page.
Navigate to a folder without any files in it. (It can have other folders in it.)
The Save button should stay lit up.
Save the file.

Note that I wasn't able to reproduce the bug for bookmarked folders in

What Could Go Wrong

This is a one-line bug fix from the stable gtk-4-6 branch targeted to directly
fix this issue.

Other Notes
---
I do not believe we need to respin the Ubuntu 22.04 ISOs for this issue.
I do request a 0-day SRU since this is a small high impact fix that affects the
usability of the Firefox snap.

+ save file dialog doesn't allow saving to a directory without files

** Description changed:

  Impact
  --
Ubuntu uses xdg-desktop-portal-gnome for the save dialog for snaps (like
Firefox or Chromium). xdg-desktop-portal-gnome in Ubuntu 22.04 uses gtk4

- Navigate to an empty folder.
+ Navigate to a folder without any files in it. (It can have other folders in
it.)
The Save button should stay lit up.
  Save the file.

Note that I wasn't able to reproduce the bug for bookmarked folders in
the left sidebar so just navigate using the main view area.

[Bug 1969584] Re: Evolution does not allow editing email content on Wayland

2022-04-20 Thread Jeremy Bicha
** Description changed:

This is very similar to bug #1966418, but only concerns the email edit
  window.

Before bug #1966418 was fixed, Evolution did not display email contents
when running under Wayland. Starting Evolution with
  WEBKIT_DISABLE_COMPOSITING_MODE=1 worked around the issue.

Now that #1966418 is fixed, displaying email contents works again even
without the workaround. However, it's still not possible to write/edit
an email. The message area is greyed out and unresponsive.

When running under X or using the above workaround, editing emails
works. So the issue seems to be the same as in #1966418, but for the
  edit window.
+
+ Workaround #1
+ -
+ Open a terminal and run this command:
+ WEBKIT_DISABLE_COMPOSITING_MODE=1 evolution
+
+ Workaround #2
+ -
+ Log out.
+ Select your name on the login screen.
+ Click the gear button and choose Ubuntu on Xorg.
+ Enter your password to finish logging in.

[Bug 1969628] [NEW] Used memory indication is not really useful

2022-04-20 Thread Mateusz Łącki
Public bug reported:

The values shown as "memory used" are not really informative. Roughly
speaking

"used" memory (indicated in the tool) = "really used" memory (NOT
indicated in the tool) + "cache" (indicated in the tool) + "available"
(NOT indicated in the tool)

The tool shows the LHS "used memory" and "cache", but does not show the
"available memory". With modern kernels the tendency is to "use" memory
as much as possible in various buffers, so the value indicated in that
tool has no practical value.

For a user I would presume that "memory" should be indication of "really
used" memory, because only that tells him how many application will he
be able to run.

Currently my Machine tells me it is using 61 GB of memory, with 20.5 GB
in Cache. While all I have open are some basic simple tools like skype,
Gnome-Terminal and a few Google Chrome windows. Thing is I have 33GB in
"available" (according to TOP), which tells me that I am "really using"
around 7GB of memory, which sounds about right.

There is no way to get the 7GB value from gnome-system-monitor.

The gnome-system-monitor should show "really used memory" or at the very
least show also "available" memory just below "cache".

[Bug 1969619] Re: RDP Sharing appears on by default in jammy

2022-04-20 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Thank you for filling in the bug! So from what I understand here, this
means that sharing is disabled until someone opens the sharing screen in
the gnome-control-center, right? I agree with the 'High' priority here
in that case, but it's certainly not a 22.04 release blocker - however,
the fix for that should be prepared ASAP and uploaded as a 0-day SRU, if
possible. Actually, I even think maybe it should go through the security
pocket, as at least to me this seems like a violation of our security
policies by enabling RDP without the users knowledge. This way all the
users would get this update as well via unattended updates.

Could we get some input from the security team? What do you think?

[Bug 1871538] Re: dbus timeout-ed during an upgrade, taking services down including gdm

2022-04-20 Thread Lukas Märdian
Quoting upstream systemd developers
(https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/22737#issuecomment-1077682307):
"We essentially traded one problem (lockup when starting services) for another
(the failure described in this commit).
I actually think that the lockup is worse. Here there is a simple solution:
switch from dbus-daemon to dbus-broker. [...]

A proper fix will most likely be to make all dbus calls asynchronous in
systemd, but that is a lot of work and it's unclear when/if it'll
happen. The regression is unfortunate, but I don't think we can fix it
in reasonable time."

So I wonder what's the best path forward in Ubuntu... if we revert,
we'll re-introduce the lockup/timeout problem with dbus-daemon. If we
keep the current version, fwupd-refresh.service is broken.

The comment at
https://github.com/fwupd/fwupd/issues/3037#issuecomment-1100816992 suggests
that disabling the DynamicUser= setting makes the service work again. Maybe
that's worth a try, in order to get both problems solved? (i.e. shipping an
override config for fwupd)

$cat /etc/systemd/system/fwupd-refresh.service.d/override.conf
[Service]
DynamicUser=no

[Bug 1968887] [NEW] Save As Dialog Box does not get focus in Ubuntu 22.04

2022-04-20 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When using a browser to right click a file and save as, the save as
window does not get focus, which means you can't just type the name of
the file you want, you have to force focus onto the window to use it by
clicking it.

This defeats the entire purpose of 2 built in features, 1 being the pre-
selected original file name (since you can't rename until you re-aquire
focus for that window, thereby undoing the pre-selection programmed in)
and 2, the ability to quickly save the file with a keystroke.

A side note to this, ubuntu-bug should have an option to report bugs
with other WITHOUT having to specify a package. This is a bug in ubuntu-
bug. Not a feature. Because we don't always know what package(s) are
involved. This needs to be addressed.

2022-04-20 Thread Khurshid Alam

Unity always use lightdm. Will try using gdm.

Yes. The current_desktop_name is being set from data/unity.desktop.in.in file.
Please look at the patch
in debian/patches/ubuntu/ubuntu-session.patch.

As for changes between impish and jammy, It seems now the object path
has changed in gsm-manager.c ? From org.gnome.Shell to
org.gnome.Shell.desktop? Though not sure that would affect this.

[Bug 1969619] Re: RDP Sharing appears on by default in jammy

I think this is a bit more nefarious.

On an installed system, all you have to do to have port 3389/tcp
suddenly open is to *visit* the "share" tab in the settings. No need to
change a thing, just visit it, then close the window. Boom, you have rdp
desktop sharing running. At least it's a random password (I think: it's
not the local account password).

[Bug 1969651] [NEW] Dock auto-hides too quickly when interacting with an app's right-click menu

2022-04-20 Thread Christian
Public bug reported:

Whenever I try to select a different window from the dock (or add to
favourites/any other option in that menu), as soon as my mouse leaves
the dock for that menu, the dock hides, which makes the menu drop down.
This is very frustrating because at best I have to try again, and at
worst I have to undo whatever wrong action the menu drop made me click.

It's worse when the menu is not on my primary display, as on top of
dropping down, it gets sent to the primary display.

This is quite a frustrating bug that has been present the whole time
I've been using the 22.04 beta.

My gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock version is 72-ubuntu5, and I am
using Wayland.

My dock settings are set to show on all displays, at the bottom.
Although the behaviour is wonky when set to display on the left too.

Let me know if there is any more information you would like me to
provide.

+ My dock settings are set to show on all displays, at the bottom.
+ Although the behaviour is wonky when set to display on the left too.
+
Let me know if there is any more information you would like me to
  provide.

[Bug 1966905] Re: Valgrind memory errors in gnome-shell 42 from accountsservice

2022-04-20 Thread Treviño
I think this is triggered by valgrind because it leads to slowdowns, but
the bug is indeed there.

We can handle it in a later upload I think, but due to gslice and the
randomness of these memory errors, I wouldn't be shocked if this is
actually presenting right now in the wild with a different stack trace.

[Bug 1969357] Re: Unity7 crashes on Jammy with 22.04's gnome-session version

I've tested current Jammy in a VM (old one, but with a barely used user) and it
seems to work properly:

[Bug 1969439] Re: Plugins not available

2022-04-20 Thread Steve Langasek
** Description changed:

  * Impact

Shotwell doesn't list any plugin as available

  = Test Case

  - Start shotwell
- - Go to preference
+ - Go to Edit->Preferences
  - Select the plugins tab

The list should lists plugins in the categories with checkboxes to
enable/disable them on the left column
-

  * Regression Potential

The patch is changing the LIB definition so it could lead to issue
finding other assets though in practice the value was null before the
fix and the plugin seems to be the only code relying on that resource
definition so the risk is limited
-

  -

Just installed 22.04 and Shotwell but I cannot enable any plugin, no one
  available.

May be a lib path error?

[Bug 1969447] Re: 42.0-1ubuntu6 doesn't recongize the presence of NVIDIA_PRESERVE_VIDEO_MEMORY_ALLOCATIONS=1

2022-04-20 Thread Jack Howarth
Daniel, I disagree. This bug is actually about the fact that the test
crafted in /lib/udev/rules.d/61-gdm.rules doesn't parse as expected in
udev. We also should probably file a bug report against upstream udev as
the changes added to support escaped quotes in #6890 aren't robust
enough.

[Bug 1794064] Re: Clicking a hyperlink in a PDF fails to open it if the default browser is a snap

2022-04-20 Thread Georgia Garcia
** Description changed:

- This is related to bug #1792648. After fixing that one (see discussion
- at https://salsa.debian.org/gnome-team/evince/merge_requests/1),
- clicking a hyperlink in a PDF opens it correctly if the default browser
- is a well-known application (such as /usr/bin/firefox), but it fails to
- do so if the default browser is a snap (e.g. the chromium snap).
+ [Impact]

- This is not a recent regression, it's not working on bionic either.
+ * Users cannot open a hyperlink in a PDF opened with evince when the default
browser is a snap.
+ * The fix creates a snap_browsers abstraction on AppArmor which can be used
in a transition for when the browser is executed. The snap_browsers abstraction
provides the minimal amount of permissions required to execute a browser
provided through snaps. This is a workaround since AppArmor currently does not
provide mediation/filtering on enhanced environment variables.

- ProblemType: Bug
- DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.10
- Package: evince 3.30.0-2
- ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.18.0-7.8-generic 4.18.5

+ [Test Plan]
+
+ * Make sure the default browser is provided through the snap store.
+ * Open a PDF that contains a hyperlink using evince and click on the URL.
+ * The browser should open the requested URL.
+
+ [Where problems could occur]
+
+ * If the browser or snap core update to have new requirements for
+ opening a browser, then the current policy could become obsolete and
+ will need to be updated again.

[Bug 1969314] Re: xdg-user-dirs-gtk-update not display panel

2022-04-20 Thread Seiichi Nakashima
Hi,

First I install Japanese environment from jammy-desktop-amd64.iso 2022-04-16
and 2022-04-19.
and I want to change home directory name from Japanese to English to use command
LANG=C xdg-user-dirs-gtk-update
but not success

Second I install English environment from jammy-desktop-amd64.iso 2022-04-19.
and I added Japanese environment.
Reboot system, panel displayed that do you want to use home directory Japanese
or English,
it is same LANG=C xdg-user-dirs-gtk-update command.
and it work fine.

however I install only one time, something may have failed.

[Bug 1794064] Re: Clicking a hyperlink in a PDF fails to open it if the default browser is a snap

2022-04-20 Thread Georgia Garcia
@Sebastien, yes, just did. Thank you!

I also attached the debdiffs for evince and apparmor for bionic, focal, impish
and jammy. They were also uploaded into the Security Proposed PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-security-proposed/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+packages?field.name_filter=apparmor
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-security-proposed/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+packages?field.name_filter=evince

[Bug 1969619] Re: RDP Sharing appears on by default in jammy

2022-04-20 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Łukasz,

Yes, just opening the Sharing panel with gnome-control-center 1:41.4-1ubuntu12
is enough to attempt to start the RDP service.
systemctl --user status gnome-remote-desktop reports this error:

RDP TLS certificate and key not configured properly

I didn't check open ports but it makes sense that it would open the RDP
port even though the RDP service isn't completely working.

** Description changed:

- Summary
- ===
- 1. From the Ubuntu 22.04 live session (or a clean install), Open the Settings
app.
- 2. Open the Sharing page. It looks like Remote Desktop sharing is turned on.
+ Impact
+ ==
+ 1. It looks like RDP Sharing is turned on but it is not.
+ 2. To actually turn on RDP Sharing, you would need to turn it off then turn
it on.

- On further investigation, it is not actually on.
+ This bugfix fixes it so that it correctly shown as off by default and
+ turning it on works.

- More details
+ Test Case
+ =
+ 0. Start with a clean Ubuntu 22.04 install.
+ Or you can create a new user and log in as the new user.
+ 1. Open the Settings app.
+ 2. In the left sidebar, click Sharing. The switch at the top of the page
needs to be off.
+ 3. Turn the switch on. Then click Remote Desktop and turn it on.
+ 4. Close the Settings app.
+ 5. Open the Settings app and verify that Sharing is on and Remote Desktop is
on.
+ 6. Close the Settings app.
+ 7. From a terminal, run
+ systemctl --user status gnome-remote-sharing.service
+
+ It should show the service as active (running) and
+ a line at the bottom should say RDP server started
+ 8. Then run
+ systemctl --user stop gnome-remote-sharing.service
+ 9. Open the Settings app. It should show that Remote Desktop sharing is off.
+ 10. Turn on Sharing and turn on Remote Desktop sharing.
+ 11. Run
+ systemctl --user status gnome-remote-sharing.service
+
+ It should show the service as active (running) and
+ a line at the bottom should say RDP server started
+
+ What Could Go Wrong
+ ===
+ This is a minimal fix proposed upstream.
+ The original implementation was insufficient.
+ The bugfix will allow Remote Desktop to be turned on and work correctly from
the beginning.
+
+ More Details

- This issue affects both the live session and the initial install. (Probably
would show up for any new user.)
-
- 1. Before opening the Settings app, the gnome-remote-desktop service is
- running. I think this is expected.
-
- $ systemctl status --user gnome-remote-desktop.service

- Apr 20 08:07:44 ubuntu2204 systemd[1483]: Started GNOME Remote Desktop.
-
- Also, the RDP enable gsettings key is turned off.
-
- $ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.remote-desktop.rdp enable
- false
-
- 2. When I open the Sharing page, the gsettings key turns to true
-
- and systemctl shows me an error where it tried to enable RDP:
- Apr 20 08:12:50 ubuntu2204 gnome-remote-de[1611]: RDP TLS certificate and key
not configured properly
-
- 3. So then I open Remote Desktop Sharing and turn it off then on and
- then systemctl shows me that is working correctly.

-
- Note in particular the final line: "RDP server started". That tells us
- whether RDP is running or not. There would be a similar line for VNC.
- This line didn't show in the initial state in step 1.
-
- What should happen
- ==
- Remote Desktop should show off by default and should not attempt to turn on
just by opening the Sharing page.
-
- There is no gsettings for the Sharing master on/off switch (in the
- headerbar). It shows as On if any of the services are On. None of the
- services should be On by default so this should show Off by default.
-
- A Bug Trigger
- =
- It looks like this bug was triggered by
- https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-remote-desktop/-/commit/7f4ef31fd3
-
- I have reported this issue to GNOME. That patch fixes an important issue
- so maybe we need to keep that patch but fix the logic in gnome-control-
- center.

[Bug 1969357] Re: Unity7 crashes on Jammy with 22.04's gnome-session version

2022-04-20 Thread Treviño
Ah, Rudra: All my tests have been done *with lightDM*, not gdm.

I assume there's some bit lightdm is not doing, but in my test
environment it was perfectly able to start the session as underlined in
the comments below.

[Bug 1968425] Re: Workspace switching interruptible with trackpad overview gesture

2022-04-20 Thread Umayr Saghir
I think it's similar to a degree, the other bug starts in the overview
and similarly attempting to interrupt the transition, I can confirm the
behaviour of seeing "a part of the previous workspace for a second or
two" on GNOME 42. My issue is slightly different as it starts from the
desktop and interrupts the transition by going to the overview (as
demonstrated in the screen recording).

I think both bugs speak to additional polish needed for the workspace
transitions namely preventing an in progress transition from being
interrupted regardless of being on the desktop or the overview. Fixing
this may help to improve some of the unintended transitions I see when
using rapid trackpad gestures, and the transitions sometimes feeling
like they go somewhere different than intended (3 swipe down to desktop
sometimes lands me on an adjacent desktop, but don't know how to
reliably reproduce hence haven't created a bug for this).
