Having opened nautilus with some folders on the left area (with favorite
locations) if a accidentaly drag one location a permanent rectangular area with
the name of that folder will remain on desktop in that location that the drop
was 'made' and sits on top of every windwos sth very annoyning.

Thanks

[Bug 1592953] Re: Nautilus bookmarks folders leave permanent 'icon' on desktop

2016-06-18 Thread Alberts Muktupāvels
This is problem also in other applications. For example - totem,
evince...

- I can reproduce this bug in ubuntu 16.04
- I can reproduce this bug with upstream 3.18.x applications that are launched
with jhbuild run
- I can not reproduce this bug with upstream 3.20.x applications that are
launched with jhbuild run

In all cases same metacity version was used. This bug does not happen
with compiz.

[Bug 1593988] [NEW] Nautilus fails to start

2016-06-18 Thread Ads20000
Public bug reported:

I'm not sure this is reliably reproducible, but maybe there's something
helpful in the logs. I can't seem to start up Nautilus and if I click on
the folder icon next to a downloaded file in the Downloads drop-down in
Firefox then Firefox freezes. It was working fine and then after I had
closed it I couldn't start it again when I tried later.

If I run Nautilus in Terminal it hangs for a while and then the
following appears in Terminal before it gives up:

(nautilus:15487): GLib-GIO-CRITICAL **:
g_dbus_interface_skeleton_unexport: assertion
'interface_->priv->connections != NULL' failed

(nautilus:15487): GLib-GIO-CRITICAL **: g_dbus_interface_skeleton_unexport:
assertion 'interface_->priv->connections != NULL' failed
Could not register the application: Timeout was reached

(nautilus:15487): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_icon_theme_get_for_screen:
assertion 'GDK_IS_SCREEN (screen)' failed

(nautilus:15487): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid (NULL) pointer
instance

(nautilus:15487): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_signal_connect_object:
assertion 'G_TYPE_CHECK_INSTANCE (instance)' failed

The Nautilus process was still running (which it does normally). After I Ended
the process in System Monitor I was able to start it up again and now it works
fine, I'm able to open and close the app again. Something went wrong though
and, though this is not easily reproducible, stuff like this shouldn't happen
in the first place!

[Bug 1593998] [NEW] Using 'Browse' to find an app for the 'Command' section (New Item), backslashes are not automatically inserted for spaces

2016-06-18 Thread Ads20000
Public bug reported:

To reproduce, open Alacarte and click 'New Item'. Then browse for a
file/application which is stored in a directory which contains spaces.
If you add that item, backslashes won't be automatically inserted to
allow the command to work with the directories which have spaces. E.g.
`/home/user/Ubuntu\ Programs/firefox/firefox` is instead written by the
program as `/home/user/Ubuntu Programs/firefox/firefox`. As a result,
when you've added a name for the launcher, you're not able to add the
launcher (the OK button remains greyed out). Of course, the really easy
workaround is to just add the backslashes by hand, but it's very
frustrating when you think you've added the launcher and you don't spot
what's wrong! It should 'just work'.

Hello Jens,

I see what you mean. You are right.

>From what I could gather, the bug is worthy of forwarding to GNOME. If
you'd be so kind to report it in the GNOME bugtracker with a link back
to how pantheon-terminal fixed it, we'd be greatly appreciative.

This would also allow you to stay in contact with the developers for

[Bug 1589585] Re: Ubuntu Software tab Installed refreshing endlessly every 2 seconds

2016-06-18 Thread grofaty
@Mario,
I hope I understood you correctly. I am not an expert on this field...

At 1) I did a "ps" to check if fwupd is running see 1_ps.txt
Then I executed "dmesg > 1_dmesg.txt"

At 2) First free steps I did as instructed. Don't know what exactly
"" means. I did "dmesg > 2_dmesg.txt"

At 3) I have check the BIOS and can't see any option to turn off finger
print reader. There are only some Normal/High and similar options in
BIOS in Security section. Can't see an option to completely disable a
device.

Additional info 1: I have tried to 'lsusb' for several times in about one
second each and I see bumping up and disappearing and bump up again and
disappearing. Don't know if this is normal. It looks strange to me... See
lsusb.txt file.

Additional info 2: My laptop battery has died and now I have to have
power cable stuck into electric power non-stop. This is an old laptop
and I don't use it at road, so I don't intent to by another battery.
Don't know if this is related to this problem or not.

I have also executed "lsusb -t" and it looks like it is displaying new
device, then disappearing and appearing with new device again. See
lsusb_t.txt attachment.

[Bug 1594023] [NEW] Poweroff or reboot hangs. Laptop won't shutdown. 16.04

2016-06-18 Thread Elio
Public bug reported:

This is about a fresh Ubuntu 16.04 install on a new laptop (asus
x540sa). After pressing the shutdown button in the start menu; the
shutdown procedure starts and in the final splash screen the system just
hangs. Tried a second time by pressing Esc once the splash screen showed
up and I saw that it reaches the line "Reached target shutdown" and just
stops there, no matter how long I leave it there the machine won't turn
off.

I also tried a Kubuntu 16.04 fresh install on the same machine and it
hanged too at the final splash screen where the pulsating logo stopped.
Then I tried with Esc only to see the exact same line in the end.

The issue seems to affect lately quite many users as shown by the google
results of the past month / week or so.

I have also tried shutting down from the console with shutdown -and all
the parameters after that suggested online- and sudo poweroff but
unfortunately they didn't do the trick. The exact same situation
occurred.

Unmounting the swap as suggested online doesn't work.

Also rebooting the system is not working either due to the same issue.

So right now the only way for me to poweroff the machine is to press the
power button on the keyboard continuously.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install OS
2.Do something, anything or nothing
3.Try to shutdown or reboot

Actual Results:
The computer is not shutting down: "Reached target shutdown" and hangs there.

Expected Results:
Powering off the machine.

For what it's worth, closing the lid won't suspend the system, but using
the menu buttons for suspension will do it.

[Bug 1594035] [NEW] unable to shut down the system after suspend / resume

2016-06-18 Thread Donald Pellegrino
Public bug reported:

In the case of a system that has gone through a suspend / resume cycle,
the "shutdown now" command fails with the following output:

$ shutdown now
Failed to power off system via logind: Transaction is destructive.
Failed to start poweroff.target: Interactive authentication required.
See system logs and 'systemctl status poweroff.target' for details.
Failed to open /dev/initctl: Permission denied
Failed to talk to init daemon.

---

$ systemctl status poweroff.target
● poweroff.target - Power-Off
Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/poweroff.target; disabled; vendor preset:
   Active: inactive (dead)
 Docs: man:systemd.special(7)

---

$ systemctl list-jobs
JOB UNIT TYPE STATE
438 dev-mapper-cryptswap1.device start running
439 dev-mapper-cryptswap1.swapstart waiting
436 systemd-cryptsetup@cryptswap1.service start running

3 jobs listed.

---

Steps to reproduce:

1. Boot system
2. User login to graphical session
3. Close lid while on battery power triggering a suspend
4. Open lid while on battery power triggering a resume
5. Run "shutdown now" from a terminal. Note that the command must be run from
the terminal to see output. Selecting "Shut Down..." from the system menu in
the menu bar will hide the error output.
6. Observe that the system fails to shut down

Expected behavior:

At step 6, the system should shut down gracefully.

Note that the shutdown process works as expected if steps 3 and 4 are
skipped. I suspect that something about the suspend / resume cycle
during the session has an interaction effect with the shutdown process,
preventing it from executing correctly.

[Bug 1593979] Re: gnome-terminal terminal gets narrower when mouse is moved across the right border

2016-06-18 Thread Egmont Koblinger
Clarified the bug title. ("minimize" is the action triggered by the
second icon of the title bar, the one with a "-" sign on it, between
"close" ("x") and "maximize" (big square). This is not what happens
here.)

** Summary changed:

- gnome-terminal terminal minimizes when mouse is moved across the right border
+ gnome-terminal terminal gets narrower when mouse is moved across the right
border
