[Bug 1468943] Re: Update to 3.16

2015-07-15 Thread Tim
I managed to cherry-pick/rebase enough from upstream to port u-s-d and
u-c-c to the new shared schemas in gsettings-desktop-shcemas, just a
couple of UI glitches to resolve and then I will make MP's.

[Bug 1474863] [NEW] bcache devices aren't available in initramfs

[Bug 1474863] Re: bcache device files aren't available in initramfs

2015-07-15 Thread Martin Pitt
If /dev/bcacheN does not exist, it is either a kernel problem
(missing/broken driver?) or perhaps a bug in bcache-tools that is
missing to put some necessary kernel modules, sysctls, or other files
into initramfs. udev is not responsible for creating device nodes,
that's the kernel's job. It *is* responsible for creating the /dev/disk
/by-uuid/ symlinks to it, but this part was fixed in 222.

Ubuntu's kernels have bcache as a module, so I figure this isn't being
loaded somehow. bcache has an /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/bcache
hook, but I figure that somehow doesn't work. Reassigning.

Just saw that libwebkit2gtk-4.0-37 in wily is 2.8.4, so maybe this is
already fixed in wily. If not, it should be checked that epiphany is
using this package and not another older version, and that the package
was built with libnotify support.

dependency for 3.16.

Unfortuantely it is not possible to backport major releases to stable
release of Ubuntu, so this can't be fixed in vivid or earlier

[Bug 1475094] [NEW] Warning because an already existing user is tried to be created

2015-07-15 Thread Sworddragon
Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu 15.10 dev with systemd/udev 222-1ubuntu4 and on the
last upgrades I have noticed that these packages are trying to create
users which already exists. On reinstalling them udev shows on setting
up "addgroup: The group `input' already exists as a system group.
Exiting." and systemd shows on setting up "addgroup: The group `systemd-
journal' already exists as a system group. Exiting." and "addgroup: The
group `systemd-journal-remote' already exists as a system group.
Exiting.". Maybe it could be checked if a user exists to avoid showing a
warning.

[Bug 1466790] [NEW] dhclient does not remain running on boot

2015-07-15 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Not sure whether this is a systemd or ifupdown issue. I just happened to notice
today for a Wily VM (set up from server iso) that I failed to get a DNS
resolution for a VM I started earlier the day. DNS updates in my case are
related to DHCP updates. And on the DHCP/DNS server I noticed that the IP
address had been removed at some point. Looking at the VM, I find no dhclient
being started. When I manually run ifdown and ifup on the interface this does
happen. But not whenever I boot.
Curious about this I also checked a Vivid VM (also server install) and this
looks the same. However for Vivid this seems fixed in the latest versions.

Network config in /etc/network/interfaces:
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

Expected result:
dhclient running for eth0

Actual result after boot:
No dhclient process is running.
