[Bug 1470023] [NEW] Upgrading udev from 220-7ubuntu2 to 221-1ubuntu2 took 60s

2015-06-30 Thread Iain Lane
Public bug reported:

On all three of my wily systems which just got dist-upgraded to udev
221-1ubuntu2 from 220-7ubuntu2, udev's postinst took ~60s to complete.

The following is in the journal:

Jun 30 09:55:40 nightingale systemd[1]: systemd-udevd.service: Watchdog timeout
(limit 1min)!
Jun 30 09:57:12 nightingale systemd[1]: systemd-udevd.service: State
'stop-sigabrt' timed out. Terminating.
Jun 30 09:57:12 nightingale systemd[1]: systemd-udevd.service: Unit entered
failed state.
Jun 30 09:57:12 nightingale systemd[1]: systemd-udevd.service: Failed with
result 'timeout'.
Jun 30 09:57:12 nightingale systemd[1]: Starting udev Kernel Device Manager...
Jun 30 09:57:12 nightingale systemd[1]: Started udev Kernel Device Manager.

This is not reproducible with just a plain apt-get install --reinstall - could
try to downgrade and upgrade again if you want.

translations updates: https://git.gnome.org/browse/shotwell/log/ - I
think Shotwell is sadly on brink of being an abandonware (Geary, the new

[Bug 1470028] Re: NSEC3: verify failed due to bad signature (keyid=33878): RRSIG validity period has not begun

2015-06-30 Thread Martin Pitt
It's much more likely that this is due to the update of dnsmasq
(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/2.73-1):

juin 30 09:51:14 u32 NetworkManager[812]: dnsmasq not available on the
bus, can't update servers.
juin 30 09:51:14 u32 NetworkManager[812]: [1435650674.886674]
[dns-manager/nm-dns-dnsmasq.c:398] update(): dnsmasq owner not found on bus:
Could not get owner of name 'org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.dnsmasq': no such
name
juin 30 09:51:14 u32 NetworkManager[812]: DNS: plugin dnsmasq update
failed

Can you please test downgrading dnsmasq-base to the previous version
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/2.72-3.1build1 ? If that
works, then it's a dnsmasq regression, or NetworkManager needs to get
adjusted to the newer version.

If that doesn't work, can you please try to downgrade to the previous
systemd version? This is much less likely to work as systemd doesn't do
any network configuration beyond starting NetworkManager (which
obviously works) and calling ifupdown (which you don't seem to use).

** Package changed: systemd (Ubuntu) => dnsmasq (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: dnsmasq (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Incomplete

** Summary changed:

- NSEC3: verify failed due to bad signature (keyid=33878): RRSIG validity

servers.

[Bug 1427877] Re: Media, brightness and volume keys don't work with GNOME 3.15.90

2015-06-30 Thread Hubert Hesse
Hey there Tim

thanks for the fix.
1) Was that a regression and you saw some kind a delta to the previous version?
Is that possible?
Thats one think I wished for while I was debugging
2) Since this is runtime, there should be some kind of integration test,
correct? If so how do write one so similar incidents happen again

[Bug 1427877] Re: Media, brightness and volume keys don't work with GNOME 3.15.90

2015-06-30 Thread Tim
Hi Hubert,

1) no not really, its just that gnome-settings-daemon never had any
shared objects previously, so the link flags never caused a problem. I
just poked around in gdb to find the problem. You obviously can get
diffs to the previous versions via git, but that wouldn't have helped
much in this case!

2) I have no idea, its a pretty tricky case to test for, however I
suppose you could check that the pointers for the Gtypes match up
between modules, however thats all kind of wrapped up in glib ( I had to
cross into glib to code to work that out) so may not work in a test
case.

3) if you want to work on some more Ubuntu GNOME stuff, I can point you
in that direction, ping me on IRC or email.

[Bug 687749] Re: Paste clipboard contents into a file

2015-06-30 Thread PabloAB
I was about to create something similar: "Paste image from clipboard to
a new file". Creating from other sources might be a little more
difficult. For each mime/type should be some sort of default
assumptions. For example, if you copy an image to clipboard (let's say a
screenshot of a region) and then paste it, could do it with
timestamp_clipboard-image.jpg, and customizable from an XML/YAML.

[Bug 1470130] [NEW] Modifier keys don't change keyboard layout

2015-06-30 Thread Patrik Bubák
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

I am unable to change keyboard layouts with the help of modifier
shortcuts assigned from the list. Most frequently I used to use only
Right Shift for layout switching, but tested also all the other options
from the menu and none of them work.

This has major impact on users using multiple keyboard layouts (myself
using up to 5 typically) and switching between them quickly is
important.

Though there are bug reports for earlier versions also, some of them
marked as "Fix Released", the issue persists in Ubuntu GNOME 15.04 w/
GNOME 3.14.

[Test Case]

Fire up GNOME Control Centre > Keyboard settings > Change options for
layout switching using modifier keys (pop-up menu appears) > add desired
function

[Bug 1470169] [NEW] Ambiance is always used as window decorator theme

2015-06-30 Thread Fred
Public bug reported:

I think Metacity 1:3.17.2-2ubuntu2 broke things.
It seems now Ambiance is always used as window decorator theme, even though I
have configured to another theme.

I believe Metacity 1:3.17.2-2ubuntu1 worked fine.

I updated my Ubuntu and it updated Metacity and libmetacity-private2 to
libmetacity-private3.

Now things are broken, it worked before.

[Bug 1467611] Re: unprivileged lxc containers don't work in lsh remote sessions

Confirmed. Installing lsh-server in vivid and logging in via ssh

[Bug 1470255] [NEW] Gnome-Terminal Disappears after a Gnome-Shell Reload

2015-06-30 Thread Cerin
Public bug reported:

1. Launch a gnome-terminal from within gnome-shell.
