[Bug 1312362] Re: Can't copy a file from SMB share to the local file system: Software caused connection abort
Hello, Same issue here. Really big problem for me. Medion Life NAS, 1.5TB, all routers irrelevant- same issue. Absolutely no problems with Win7, XP, Ubuntu KK, MM 10.10, LL with either accessing, copying or uploading files to any folder. 11.04 can upload files and create folders, but cannot download files, be it copy, send to or open. All file types tried and the only ones I can pull from the NAS are small text files and .htm or .html files which will work ok. I can however open a *.jpg in GIMP from the NAS which I cannot copy from the NAS- mmm, interesting. I just fired up an old Lucid Lynx box and a Karmic Koala box and it works seamlessly. Issue only occurs with 11.04. I have just changed from Nautilus to Nemo and there is NO difference- the issue still occurs. ** Attachment added: "Screenshot from 2014-05-23 18:03:05.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1312362/+attachment/4118133/+files/Screenshot%20from%202014-05-23%2018%3A03%3A05.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1312362 Title: Can't copy a file from SMB share to the local file system: Software caused connection abort To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1312362/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1184720] Re: Nautilus does not properly navigate symbolic links
Trusty is still affected. This is a *very* annoying bug, could it be fixed in 14.04, please? If the fix is not available soon, some users (including myself) may be forced to install another file manager. (c.f. discussion of gnome bug https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=702301) N.B. some people beleive this is a medium or low priority issue. However, in setups like the ones mentioned on gnome bugzilla, this bug makes nautilus essentially unusable for many tasks. And it's not merely about "navigating back" or "navigating up". The real problem comes when you open a file *after* navigating the symlink. The application that is lauched will get the dereferenced path, and may calculate its own references from there. I frequenly use LibreOffice documents with several embedded linked files. If the document is fired from the wrong (i.e. dereferenced) location, then all internal references will be screwed, or at least the document will contain different references (some with the unreferenced symlink path, some with the dereferenced path). This is very annoying when you want to move your document to another location, hunting down broken links is a nightmare. The same goes for any application like video or music editing, where a project file contains links to resource or material files. You will have total confusion, two different types of references will be stored in your project. Some applications then behave differently with the references that are "along the project path" from those that seemingly are "external to the project path". Please DO revert this to the earlier, (expected linux standard) symlink behavior in 14.04, as soon as possible. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1184720 Title: Nautilus does not properly navigate symbolic links To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nautilus/+bug/1184720/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1312362] Re: Can't copy a file from SMB share to the local file system: Software caused connection abort
The origin of the problem seems to be a change in Samba itself. So I presume sooner or later other distributions will have the same problem - as soon as they upgrade Samba to the same level. This is the link to the bug at Samba: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10584 It looks like this bug affects Zyxel NAS based devices. Among which are the Medion devices. IOMega seems to be affected too. They're on it now - looking to the Samba source code changes done by Zyxel. I hope they find out soon what's going on - because I'm not going to throw away a perfectly good working device. ** Bug watch added: Samba Bugzilla #10584 https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10584 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1312362 Title: Can't copy a file from SMB share to the local file system: Software caused connection abort To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1312362/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1287341] Re: Touchscreen controls both screens in dual-monitor setup
I've gone through all the relevant upstream commits, and here are my conclusions: 1) The upstream code covers the use case of Wacom tablets with built-in displays (which, although useful, is not the use case discussed in this bug report). It would be way too much code to backport, especially for an SRU. 2) The upstream code covers the use case mentioned in the original description of this bug report, but I think backporting the new GsdDeviceMapper (a tool to couple input devices with displays) to unity- settings-daemon would be an overkill, just for this single use case. This said, introducing the GsdDeviceMapper is something definitely worth exploring, as a long term plan. 3) I can provide a fix for the use case in the original description with a much smaller amount of code. For this reason I'm going to complete and integrate my current prototype with the unity-settings-daemon. The result will be effective and good for an SRU. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1287341 Title: Touchscreen controls both screens in dual-monitor setup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1287341/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 322271] Re: Sorting by name doesn't work well with digits or special chars
The Gnome developers appear to be unwilling to fix this after nearly 8 years. I've attached an example of the issue where it is clear that the sort order is wrong, even for proponents of natural sort ordering. It can be fixed for Nautlius by changing g_utf8_collate_key_for_filename() to g_utf8_collate_key() nautilus-3.10.1/libnautilus-private/nautilus-file.c but this only affects Nautilus windows. File dialogs still use the wrong sort order. In glib, g_utf8_collate_key_for_filename() is broken for anything with leading zeros (it sorts 2009.1 before 2009.05) so it doesn't even get natural ordering correct. The sort order of g_utf8_collate_key_for_filename() is too aggressive in splitting up filenames into separately ordered components, which makes it inconsistent with user expectations for highly structured filenames. Some sort of desktop-wide "use natural sort order" setting is required to allow the behaviour to be adjusted. An environment setting for glib would do (although the change wouldn't be effective immediately). ** Attachment added: "Invalid sort order which orders "3" both before and after "4"." https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/322271/+attachment/4118397/+files/invalid_sort_order.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/322271 Title: Sorting by name doesn't work well with digits or special chars To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nautilus/+bug/322271/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
