[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.
Dear Ubuntu users and developers! Recently I have tested RedHat 7 RC, it uses GNOME 3.8 (Gentoo too) in which there are modifiers-only switch to next source - "gnome-control- center keyboard" -> Shortcuts -> Typing -> Modifiers-only switch to next source (here are , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ). For better Ubuntu 14.04 user-experience we must support all these shortcuts in all sessions (Unity, GNOME, GNOME FlashBack - Compiz, GNOME FlashBack - Metacity). You can consult with my Google Docs table (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ao5e713Ig9g_dEJrX2NRYlpLWWVzSWxsVXU4ck9HYVE&usp=sharing) for testing, tracking progress and determine which combinations do not work. The document may be bit outdated but you can update it by yourself. This bug may be marked as fixed only if all hotkeys work on all sessions. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1218322 Title: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc. To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1218322/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1237355] Re: Logitech Ultrathin Touch Mouse needs to be repaired
I'm also having this issue on 12.04 and 14.04. For me, adding the manual pin solves the problem after power off/on but does NOT solve the problem after channel switch, where a manual reconnect is required. Also, on both 12.04 and 14.04, I'm having occasional issues where I'm getting a keypress continuously (a regular key on the keyboard like a letter or a punctuation mark). I'm suspecting a gesture message somehow being misinterpreted by X, but I'm not able to reproduce it reliably. It's really annoying and it's fixed by turning the mouse on and off, which causes it to reconnect. I'm not sure if I should open another issue for this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-bluetooth in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1237355 Title: Logitech Ultrathin Touch Mouse needs to be repaired To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-bluetooth/+bug/1237355/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1153488] Re: Treats bluetooth input device batteries as batteries
Is this bug about showing a wrong icon or showing the mouse battery at all? IMHO a mouse battery should not be shown at all. [Bug 1301312] Re: Gedit window resized on save
I can confirm this under Unity. I think the reason is the status bar. Try: * Deactivate Bottom- and Sidepanel * Activate the Statusbar Now you should be able to reproduce it. When saving you see for a short period a message in the left of the Statusbar that may affect the minimal size of the Statusbar and with it the window. * Deactivate the Statusbar Now the resizing should not happen. Plugins that modify the statusbar or the menubar and so affect the minimal window size should be deactivated to reproduce this. ** Changed in: gedit (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gedit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1301312 Title: Gedit window resized on save To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/1301312/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I'm having the same issue in 13.10. Laptop + external monitor connected via DisplayPort. The laptop is a haswell based with Intel 4600 video card (+ nVidia Optimus - not used right now). When, due to inactivity, the screen saver kicks in the monitor is turned on. Later, when I move the mouse to resume the screen, instead of login window I see the last "screen-shot" before the screen saver has been activated. [Bug 1315397] [NEW] Mouse cursor sizes are inconsistent within gtk2 apps
Public bug reported: After updating Ubuntu 14.04 yesterday I noticed that the mouse cursor size was changing inside of GTK2 applications. I have a 1920x1080 15" display running with the UI set to 1.25 scale. On GTK2 applications, the pointer changes size within applications. For example, in Pidgin, the pointer will appear enlarged within the text window for the conversation, but appears the normal smaller size in the border around the window, as well as in menus (both pop-up and drop-down), window title bar, and the toolbar above the reponse text window. Firefox is also affected inside of the browser window, bookmark toolbar, and regular toolbars, and most oddly, the cursor changes size when clicking in a sub-folder of bookmarks. When the sub-folder opens, the cursor drops to the small size, but when the cursor enters the popped- open menu, it enlarges again. Pop-up menus in the browser window also change size from the larger cursor to the smaller one. On a second system with a 1920x1080 20" display, with the UI set to 1.0 size, the cursor does not appear to change size, but if I change the scale to 1.25, the same problem occurs. The problem does not occur in GTK3 applications or in Unity. ** Affects: gtk+2.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1315397 Title: Mouse cursor sizes are inconsistent within gtk2 apps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+2.0/+bug/1315397/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 11334] Re: MASTER Copy-Paste doesn't work if the source is closed before the paste
In LibreOffice Bugzilla #48783, TenLeftFingers (tenleftfingers) wrote on 2012-09-30: "However on MacOS 10.8 (Mountain Lion) this issue is not reproducible. The clipboard contents are preserved on exit." Of course, because OS X is a proper operating system with a clipboard that always, because of the way it's implemented in the operating system itself. It has been said many times: A clipboard should be a feature of the operating system itself and applications shouldn't have to write code to make copy/paste work. Write an application for Windows, OS X or even iOS and copy/paste just works. There's no need for the developers to implement this feature to make copy/paste work. That's why Linux is such a useless operating system. In LibreOffice Bugzilla #48783, L-lunak-w (l-lunak-w) wrote on 2014-04-25: "This is a consequence of the X11 clipboard design and not LibreOffice specific. As such, there's not much LibreOffice itself can do about this on its own." You shouldn't even do something. Just don't fix it. It's absolutely ridiculous all applications have to be "fixed" by its developers. I surrounded "fixed" by quotation marks, because of course the applications are not broken at all. It's the operating system itself that's broken and they refuse to fix their crappy operating system and expect all developers to write code to make copy/paste work on their piece of shit called Linux. I'd say they can go fuck themselves. Just spend your time on Windows and OS X. Just don't give a single shit about Linux, just like 99,5% of the world doesn't give a shit about Linux. It's a useless piece of crap that doesn't even deserve developers who spend time writing software for it. Developers should just write software for Windows and OS X and ignore that fucking piece of shit. I click on "Post Comment" and Launchpad says: "Error Timeout error, please try again in a few minutes." How surprisingly, something developed by Linux developers doesn't work. [Bug 1315397] Re: Mouse cursor sizes are inconsistent within gtk2 apps
After some additional experimentation on the 15" system it appears that the problem is related to the org.gnome.applications.interface values being calculated. On the 15" system I get these values: At 1.0, Cursor-size is 30, text-scaling-factor is 1.0, scaling-factor is 1. At 1.25, Cursor-size is 38, text-scaling-factor is 1.25, scaling-factor is 1. On the 20" system: At 1.0, Cursor-size is 24, text-scaling-factor is 1.0, scaling-factor is 1. At 1.25, Cursor-size is 30, text-scaling-factor is 1.25, scaling-factor is 1. If I set the screen scaling to 1.25, and then manually set the cursor size to 24 on the 15" system, when I reset the scaling-factor value to 0 or 1, the cursors on the 15" go back to matching sizes. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1315397 Title: Mouse cursor sizes are inconsistent within gtk2 apps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+2.0/+bug/1315397/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.
On Ubuntu Gnome 14.04, the bug is still there. I have no PPA related to gnome or this bug installed. The "modifier only" option for switching, set to whichever option, will change the keyboard indicated in the panel indicator, but will not really change the keyboard layout. Setting the "switch to next source" to a normal combination (for example, ctrl+0) works. I am starting to suspect that there is no one around who really understand what's happening here --- it is so complex. I confirm that none of the modifier-only combination wrong, trying with the (should be equivalent): - gnome (or unity) control center, keyboard -> shortcut -> typing - gnome-tweak-tool -> typing - gsetting or gconf-editor on org.gnome.desktop.input-sources -> xkb-option So no joy here. [Bug 1244548] Re: Keyboard shortcut for changing keyboard layout does not work on lock and login screen
I think this came up especially because the old language-agnostic ways of changing layouts is no longer available. I used to use Shift+CapsLock, which would be recognized in any layout. Unfortunately that is no longer possible. Now I use Ctrl-` (which is something different in the main other layout I am using!). But the lock-screen for a particular user should use that user's keyboard shortcuts for things like changing keyboard layout. [Bug 1315579] [NEW] When using scim-m17n in gedit, the backspace and delete keys are dysfunctional
Public bug reported: scim-m17n is an input method used for typing many languages, especially those with complex characters. With scim-m17n enabled in gedit, when one presses the backspace or delete key, then instead of performing the expected work, the cursor simply moves one space ahead and places "" there. Actually when I paste that sign here, it is just an empty box. But there in gedit the box contains four digits arranged in two rows: "0008" for backspace, and "007F" for delete. I have attached a screenshot to illustrate more clearly. With scim-m17n is enabled, when one presses the backspace key when gets a result equivalent to typing: 0008 With scim-m17n is enabled, when one presses the delete key when gets a result equivalent to typing: 007F This behaviour is evident only in gedit. When using scim-m17n in Libre Office, Thunderbird, and other applications, the backspace and delete keys work normally. In gedit with scim-m17n enabled, all the other instructional keys like insert, home, end, page up, page down-- these all work normally. I have been using scim-m17n since 2007, and this was never an issue until installing Ubuntu 14.04 which ships with gedit version 3.10.4.
