[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2014-05-02 Thread Norbert
Dear Ubuntu users and developers!

Recently I have tested RedHat 7 RC, it uses GNOME 3.8 (Gentoo too) in
which there are modifiers-only switch to next source - "gnome-control-
center keyboard" -> Shortcuts -> Typing -> Modifiers-only switch to next
source (here are , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,
, , ).

For better Ubuntu 14.04 user-experience we must support all these
shortcuts in all sessions (Unity, GNOME, GNOME FlashBack - Compiz, GNOME
FlashBack - Metacity). You can consult with my Google Docs table
(https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ao5e713Ig9g_dEJrX2NRYlpLWWVzSWxsVXU4ck9HYVE&usp=sharing)
for testing, tracking progress and determine which combinations do not
work. The document may be bit outdated but you can update it by
yourself.

This bug may be marked as fixed only if all hotkeys work on all
sessions.

[Bug 1237355] Re: Logitech Ultrathin Touch Mouse needs to be repaired

2014-05-02 Thread Ayberk Özgür
I'm also having this issue on 12.04 and 14.04. For me, adding the manual
pin solves the problem after power off/on but does NOT solve the
problem after channel switch, where a manual reconnect is required.

Also, on both 12.04 and 14.04, I'm having occasional issues where I'm
getting a keypress continuously (a regular key on the keyboard like a
letter or a punctuation mark). I'm suspecting a gesture message somehow
being misinterpreted by X, but I'm not able to reproduce it reliably.
It's really annoying and it's fixed by turning the mouse on and off,
which causes it to reconnect. I'm not sure if I should open another
issue for this.

[Bug 1153488] Re: Treats bluetooth input device batteries as batteries

2014-05-02 Thread Jochen Fahrner
Is this bug about showing a wrong icon or showing the mouse battery at
all?

IMHO a mouse battery should not be shown at all. My Logitech wireless
mouse has a non-chargable battery (primary cell) which runs a year (or
longer) with the same battery. Its absolutely useless to show its status
in favour of the laptop battery. My main concern is the laptop battery,
not the mouse battery, and I wish to see laptop battery status all the
time!

This problem still exists in 14.04.

[Bug 1035431] Re: bluetooh-wizard failed to connect to a keyboard(logitech)

2014-05-02 Thread Tim Chen
Hi,

Recent I got a HP bluetooth keyboard which has the exactly same issue,
after some analysis it's a problem between the dbus interface with
gnome-bluetooth and bluez agent,
and I've backport some commits from bluez5 and fix some issues in
gnome-bluetooth,

Can anyone who has this keyboard help me test the packages here:
https://launchpad.net/~timchen119/+archive/bluez4-ssp

instructions:
#sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:timchen119/bluez4-ssp && apt-get update &&
apt-get install gnome-bluetooth bluez

the source code is locate at the "Related branches" in this bug.
If the result is positive I'll send the merge and prepare an SRU to sponsor.

I've upload Trusty, Utopic and Precise packages to my ppa, due to the
bluez package is too old in Precise I've only port basic UI support and
not as fancy as Trusty or Utopic but should still be usable.

Thanks.

[Bug 1315345] [NEW] "open with" MIME-type functionality broken

2014-05-02 Thread Jochen Fahrner
Public bug reported:

I cannot open a video/mpeg file with avidemux.

The desktop file for avidemux has the correct entries:

MimeType=video/mpeg;video/x-mpeg;video/x-avi;application/x-flash-
video;application/x-shockwave-flash;video/flv

The MIME-type of a file I want to open in nautilus with avidemux is
"video/mpeg". The "open with" dialog in nautilus is missing avidemux.
When I select "other application" and then "show more applications"
there is still no possibility to select avidemux.

This was working fine in 12.04, but is now broken in 14.04.

[Bug 1315345] Re: "open with" MIME-type functionality broken

2014-05-02 Thread Jochen Fahrner
After some googling around I found a workaround for this problem:
Nautilus now needs a "%U" in the Exec line of an applications .desktop
file.

with a line

Exec=avidemux2_gtk %U

Nautilus shows it in the "open with" dialog.

Either fix this new behaviour in nautilus, or fix ALL .desktop files of
all applications.

[Bug 1261608] Re: [FFe] Update GNOME System Monitor to 3.10.2-2 or sync latest 3.12.0-1 release from Debian testing

I've installed gnome-system-monitor version 3.10.2-0ubuntu1~trusty1 from
ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3

any problems in few weeks.

Why Ubuntu Unicorn and Trusty still has old and buggy gnome-system-

[Bug 1301312] Re: Gedit window resized on save

2014-05-02 Thread B Clausius
I can confirm this under Unity. I think the reason is the status bar.
Try:
 * Deactivate Bottom- and Sidepanel
 * Activate the Statusbar
Now you should be able to reproduce it. When saving you see for a short period
a message in the left of the Statusbar that may affect the minimal size of the
Statusbar and with it the window.
 * Deactivate the Statusbar
Now the resizing should not happen.
Plugins that modify the statusbar or the menubar and so affect the minimal
window size should be deactivated to reproduce this.

The reason why 3.10 is not used has been stated in previous comment, it

[Bug 848562] Re: gnome-shell lock screen does not display password prompt

2014-05-02 Thread Julian
I'm having the same issue in 13.10.
Laptop + external monitor connected via DisplayPort. The laptop is a haswell
based with Intel 4600 video card (+ nVidia Optimus - not used right now).

When, due to inactivity, the screen saver kicks in the monitor is turned
on. Later, when I move the mouse to resume the screen, instead of login
window I see the last "screen-shot" before the screen saver has been
activated. You still can type your password blindly and the laptop will
unlock the screen, but you have to do it without seeing what you are
typing or what language keyboard layout is currently active.

gnome-system-monitor 3.8 has several bugs, some are already reported in
Launchpad, see for example
LP bug #1174197 (gnome-system-monitor freezes when reordering columns in procs
view), also
LP bug #93847 (Excessive CPU usage by Gnome System Monitor)

Btw, are you 100% sure, that 3.10 and 3.12 releases doesn't work
correctly in other desktop environments than GNOME-Shell?

[Bug 1315388] [NEW] GDM not showing session options

2014-05-02 Thread Miguel de Freitas Fonseca
Public bug reported:

HI, I have Ubuntu Gnome 14.04, 64 bits, fresh install, and I decided to
trie Gnome Classic (fallback/flashback).

But, at the login, in GDM, even after I choose my user, the options to choose
other DE, in this case Gnome Ckassic, does not appear!
I've reinstalled everything that I could remember, and still nothing!
The only option that shows, it's my user name, I ENTER, then put my password,
and NO OPTION to choose other session/de appears!

In the directory /usr/share/xsesions ut shows the available sessions,
in my case:

 - GNOME
 - GNOME Clássico
 - GNOME Flashback (Compiz)
 - GNOME Flashback (Metacity)

So, the packages are installed correctly!

[Bug 1315397] [NEW] Mouse cursor sizes are inconsistent within gtk2 apps

2014-05-02 Thread Ben Romer
Public bug reported:

After updating Ubuntu 14.04 yesterday I noticed that the mouse cursor
size was changing inside of GTK2 applications. I have a 1920x1080 15"
display running with the UI set to 1.25 scale. On GTK2 applications, the
pointer changes size within applications. For example, in Pidgin, the
pointer will appear enlarged within the text window for the
conversation, but appears the normal smaller size in the border around
the window, as well as in menus (both pop-up and drop-down), window
title bar, and the toolbar above the reponse text window.

Firefox is also affected inside of the browser window, bookmark toolbar,
and regular toolbars, and most oddly, the cursor changes size when
clicking in a sub-folder of bookmarks. When the sub-folder opens, the
cursor drops to the small size, but when the cursor enters the popped-
open menu, it enlarges again. Pop-up menus in the browser window also
change size from the larger cursor to the smaller one.

On a second system with a 1920x1080 20" display, with the UI set to 1.0
size, the cursor does not appear to change size, but if I change the
scale to 1.25, the same problem occurs.

The problem does not occur in GTK3 applications or in Unity.

[Bug 11334] Re: MASTER Copy-Paste doesn't work if the source is closed before the paste

2014-05-02 Thread Tralalalala
In LibreOffice Bugzilla #48783, TenLeftFingers (tenleftfingers) wrote on
2012-09-30:

"However on MacOS 10.8 (Mountain Lion) this issue is not reproducible.
The clipboard contents are preserved on exit."

Of course, because OS X is a proper operating system with a clipboard
that always, because of the way it's implemented in the operating system
itself. It has been said many times: A clipboard should be a feature of
the operating system itself and applications shouldn't have to write
code to make copy/paste work. Write an application for Windows, OS X or
even iOS and copy/paste just works. There's no need for the developers
to implement this feature to make copy/paste work.

That's why Linux is such a useless operating system.

In LibreOffice Bugzilla #48783, L-lunak-w (l-lunak-w) wrote on
2014-04-25:

"This is a consequence of the X11 clipboard design and not LibreOffice
specific. As such, there's not much LibreOffice itself can do about this
on its own."

You shouldn't even do something. Just don't fix it. It's absolutely
ridiculous all applications have to be "fixed" by its developers. I
surrounded "fixed" by quotation marks, because of course the
applications are not broken at all. It's the operating system itself
that's broken and they refuse to fix their crappy operating system and
expect all developers to write code to make copy/paste work on their
piece of shit called Linux. I'd say they can go fuck themselves. Just
spend your time on Windows and OS X. Just don't give a single shit about
Linux, just like 99,5% of the world doesn't give a shit about Linux.
It's a useless piece of crap that doesn't even deserve developers who
spend time writing software for it. Developers should just write
software for Windows and OS X and ignore that fucking piece of shit.

I click on "Post Comment" and Launchpad says:

"Error
Timeout error, please try again in a few minutes."

How surprisingly, something developed by Linux developers doesn't work.
Fucking losers.

[Bug 1315397] Re: Mouse cursor sizes are inconsistent within gtk2 apps

2014-05-02 Thread Ben Romer
After some additional experimentation on the 15" system it appears that
the problem is related to the org.gnome.applications.interface values
being calculated.

On the 15" system I get these values:

At 1.0, Cursor-size is 30, text-scaling-factor is 1.0, scaling-factor is 1.
At 1.25, Cursor-size is 38, text-scaling-factor is 1.25, scaling-factor is 1.

On the 20" system:
At 1.0, Cursor-size is 24, text-scaling-factor is 1.0, scaling-factor is 1.
At 1.25, Cursor-size is 30, text-scaling-factor is 1.25, scaling-factor is 1.

If I set the screen scaling to 1.25, and then manually set the cursor
size to 24 on the 15" system, when I reset the scaling-factor value to 0
or 1, the cursors on the 15" go back to matching sizes.

Hey -

So sorry in advance for asking a question:

On Ubuntu 14.04, I can switch to Korean (Hangul) input - it shows "Ko"

Am I subscribed to the correct bug?

[Bug 1315425] [NEW] Cannot shutdown or reboot system from Gnome or gnome-terminal

2014-05-02 Thread Tronde
Public bug reported:

Hello folks.

I use a ThinkPad R61 with a NVIDIA Corporation G86M [Quadro NVS 140M]
(rev a1). On my laptop I have installed Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 via an
Upgrade from Saucy. I cannot shutdown my laptop from within a gnome-
session.

When I choose Shutdown or Reboot from the Gnome Menu, the Gnome-Desktop
is obviously terminated properly, but the laptop don't power off. The
display gets dark but the leds and the system fan stay on. The display
backlight is on, too. In this state I'm unable to get via Ctrl+Alt+F1 in
a console or something like that. I could only power off the laptop by
pressing the power button for some seconds.

The same happens when I open a gnome-terminal and type "sudo shutdown -h
now" or "sudo reboot NOW" there.

This happens while using the nvidia drivers 304.117 or 331.38. I've
tested all of the following packages.

rc nvidia-304 304.117-0ubuntu1 amd64
NVIDIA legacy binary driver - version 304.117
ii nvidia-331 331.38-0ubuntu7 amd64
NVIDIA binary driver - version 331.38
rc nvidia-331-updates 331.38-0ubuntu7 amd64
NVIDIA binary driver - version 331.38

I use GNOME Shell 3.10.4 and kernel 3.13.0-24-generic.

Does this happen to anybody else?

Regards
Tronde

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2014-05-02 Thread Romano Giannetti
On Ubuntu Gnome 14.04, the bug is still there.

I have no PPA related to gnome or this bug installed.

The "modifier only" option for switching, set to whichever option, will
change the keyboard indicated in the panel indicator, but will not
really change the keyboard layout.

Setting the "switch to next source" to a normal combination (for
example, ctrl+0) works.

I am starting to suspect that there is no one around who really
understand what's happening here --- it is so complex.

I confirm that none of the modifier-only combination wrong, trying with
the (should be equivalent):

- gnome (or unity) control center, keyboard -> shortcut -> typing
- gnome-tweak-tool -> typing
- gsetting or gconf-editor on  org.gnome.desktop.input-sources -> xkb-option

So no joy here. Ended up setting the switch to next source to
alt+shift+space which seems to work.

:-(

[Bug 1315446] [NEW] Clicking on "Files" doesn't bring up open Nautilus window

2014-05-02 Thread Andrew Marsden
Public bug reported:

If I have my external hard drive open in a Nautilus window and focus a
different window, clicking on "Files" opens a new Home Folder window,
instead of focussing the background EHDD window.

If it is relevant, I have "Files" pinned to the sidebar. This doesn't
happen if the first window is on the internal drive.

Reproduction:
 - Open external hard drive in Nautilus window.
 - Focus/click on a non-Nautilus window
 - Click the "Files" icon in sidebar.

Expected behaviour:
 - EHDD window brought to focus

Actual behaviour:
 - New Home Folder window opened.

[Bug 1244548] Re: Keyboard shortcut for changing keyboard layout does not work on lock and login screen

2014-05-02 Thread pepa65
I think this came up especially because the old language-agnostic ways of
changing layouts is no longer available. I used to use Shift+CapsLock, which
would be recognized in any layout. Unfortunately that is no longer possible.
Now I use Ctrl-` (which is something different in the main other layout I am
using!). But the lock-screen for a particular user should use that user's
keyboard shortcuts for things like changing keyboard layout.
I would love to be able to use Alt+Alt or Shift+CapsLock or even just CapsLock
to change layouts..!

[Bug 1315579] [NEW] When using scim-m17n in gedit, the backspace and delete keys are dysfunctional

2014-05-02 Thread Swarup Dev
Public bug reported:

scim-m17n is an input method used for typing many languages, especially
those with complex characters.

With scim-m17n enabled in gedit, when one presses the backspace or
delete key, then instead of performing the expected work, the cursor
simply moves one space ahead and places "" there. Actually when I
paste that sign here, it is just an empty box. But there in gedit the
box contains four digits arranged in two rows: "0008" for backspace, and
"007F" for delete. I have attached a screenshot to illustrate more
clearly.

With scim-m17n is enabled, when one presses the backspace key when gets
a result equivalent to typing: 0008

With scim-m17n is enabled, when one presses the delete key when gets a
result equivalent to typing: 007F

This behaviour is evident only in gedit. When using scim-m17n in Libre
Office, Thunderbird, and other applications, the backspace and delete
keys work normally.

In gedit with scim-m17n enabled, all the other instructional keys like
insert, home, end, page up, page down-- these all work normally.

I have been using scim-m17n since 2007, and this was never an issue
until installing Ubuntu 14.04 which ships with gedit version 3.10.4.

This issue is a serious problem for those working with scim in gedit.

[Bug 1173851] Re: Empathy don't open (process running)

2014-05-02 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test
it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running
apport-collect and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.
