[Bug 175233] Re: Evolution hangs with "Formatting Message" after several hours
Regarding my previous comment - here is an interesting behavior: 1. I have an OWA account configured and enabled. 2. I get the "formatting message" problem on an IMAP account: I select a message and the message preview stays blank with a "Formatting message" progress notification that can't be cancelled, but if I open a message viewer on that message it works fine - all as documented in this bug. 3. [Bug 521640] [NEW] ubuntu struck on login screen, message: 'the configuration defaults for the gnome power manager has not been installed correctly'
*** This bug is a security vulnerability *** You have been subscribed to a public security bug: I am running Ubuntu 9.10. After a routine update, the system asked for a restart; after which it popped up a warning: INSTALL PROBLEM: "the configuration defaults for the GNOME Power Manager have not been installed correctly. Please contact your computer administrator." From then many things have changed. My Ubuntu is not starting at all, so there's little I can do dirctly except from live-cd, and my disk is far too filled to be reinstalled. Can someone please help me with sorting out this problem? [Bug 521707] [NEW] Selecting certain words containing the letter f duplicates the letter
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince Ubuntu release: Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS Package version: evince 2.22.2-0ubuntu2 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Open the PDF document (used "http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/JavaEETutorial.pdf";); 2. Scroll to a page containing one of the following words: "briefly", "Simplified", "Unified", "benefit", "file"; 3. Select the word with the mouse; What was expected to happen: The word should have been selected and displayed correctly. What happened instead: The word was selected but displayed with the letter f duplicated. By duplicated I mean: - the word "file" turns to "ffle" when selected; - the word "briefly" turns to "brieffly" when selected; - the word "Simplified" turns to "Simpliffed" when selected; - the word "Unified" turns to "Uniffed" when selected; - the word "benefit" turns to "benefft" when selected. However, the words "verifier" and "following" are correctly displayed when selected. Other observations: 1. Selecting the words and then copying and pasting them into a text editor works correctly; 2. Using "Edit->find..." to select the words works correctly. [Bug 496714] Re: Randomly, gnome-panel doesn't complete and freezes after login (karmic)
I can't do the backtrace because gnome-panel is an app that starts automatically when I log in. In the instructions in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace they tell how to do it a) starting the app and b) generating the bug for already running programms I would kill gnome-panel and then follow the instructions in a), but the problem is that when I kill gnome-panel, it restarts inmediatly and automaticaly, so no way for a) And it's non-sense to use the instructions for b), because the bug, when it happens, it happens before you can do what it says in b). My question is: how can I kill gnome-panel (from tty1 for example) and avoid it to automaticaly restart again. If I could do that, then I could follow the instructions in a), that means, start gnome-panel from gdb and backtrace the bug. [Bug 151145] Re: Evince print fails with Postscript driver
Hate to be a bug necromancer, but this bug describes exactly a problem I've had and continue to have in Karmic. Printing PDF files from "evince" and even Adobe's own Acrobat often results in exactly the same failure: an error printout with an "Operand Error" or "Configuration Error". The error message itself is of no diagnostic help to me. The exact same PDF file prints fine from a Windows 7 machine via Acrobat Reader. [Bug 495671] Re: "No login notifications" should imply "no login indicators"
I had an interesting experience with this bug yesterday and feel it is relevant to mention. A friend once tried to talk to me via Empathy, but I wasn't at the computer at the time and didn't return before he eventually went offline. I then turned off the computer in a rush without verifying the indicator-applet, effectively losing his message. (the last part is at least what I think it happened, judging by the message timestamp) When I was using the computer again later, I got bitten by the bug: I clicked on the applet because of a new Gwibber entry and was fooled by an entry that was there just because this same friend had just logged in. So I clicked on the indicator. Now comes the funny part: because of Empathy logging, when I opened the conversation window from the indicator, the last message was his "hello" from BEFORE, and thus the fooling was complete. The friend promptly received a "hello" from me as a reply from a message he had sent hours before. :) I only understood what happened when I actually looked at the message timestamp. So, long story short: this bug and Empathy logging is a nasty combination. -- "No login notifications" should imply "no login indicators" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/495671 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 393386] Re: I can't add a new user with the same name of one that has been deleted usind users-admin
The terminal problem comes from the fact that you're using 'useradd', while normal method on Debian systems is to use 'adduser'. Though the real issue with users-admin is that in Jaunty we didn't remove user account, and failed silently when the home directory for a new user was already present. Those issues are fixed in Lucid, since we ask to remove home directory, and don't fail if it already exists. Thanks for reporting - you may want to test Lucid and check that this behavior works. Don't hope for a backport of the fix to Jaunty, though, as it required far too many changes. ** Changed in: gnome-system-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: gnome-system-tools (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Fix Released -- I can't add a new user with the same name of one that has been deleted usind users-admin https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/393386 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-system-tools in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 514298] Re: users-admin : Scrolling through list resizes listbox
This bug was fixed in the package gnome-system-tools - 2.29.90-0ubuntu1 --- gnome-system-tools (2.29.90-0ubuntu1) lucid; urgency=low * New upstream version * Users - Fix hangs when changing own password with some PAM setups - Update password field to indicate whether password is empty and/or asked on login - Support disabled accounts, waiting for the backends to report this - Sort users and groups list, implement search (LP: #477324) - Don't resize window with long user names (LP: #514298) - Improve buttons string to be "Change..." - Fix "Reload Changes?" dialog shown after creating an user - Fix a few leaks of OobsUsers and OobsGroups * Services - Only commit changes to one service at a time, to avoid many harmful issues - Remove unlock button, ask for authentication on-the-fly - Improve appearance of services list, use some additional icons and known services * Shares - Don't create an OobsIfacesConfig object since it's not used and consumes memory * Fixes LP: #200105 * Refreshed patches: - 81_gst-packages-shares-admin.patch - 90_relibtoolize.patch * debian/control: - Bump liboobs-dev build-depend to 2.29.90 - Update Standards-Version to 3.8.4.
