[Bug 41159] Re: timezone data is duplicated over at least three packages in main
Both ICU4C and ICU4J include their own copy of the tzdata in a more usable format. Since the existing POSIX and Linux APIs insufficiently expose all of the timezone data, and because the CLDR metazone information is tightly bound to a version of the timezone data, ICU can't use the system tzdata. Also ICU is a cross platform library, and not all operating system use the same type of timezone data. This is a common problem for environments that want to detect and use all the rules for the timezone data, like Java, vmware, ICU and others. There is no way to reliably get access to the Olson timezone ID. ICU already provides instructions for updating the timezone data, and those instructions are located here: http://www.icu- project.org/userguide/dateTimezone.html#tzupdate I recommend using a similar approach to what Apple and other operating system vendors do with ICU and its timezone data. This basically means using the --with-data-packaging=archive configure option, and defining the ICU_DATA_DIR macro in CPPFLAGS before configuring ICU. Defining a default value for ICU_DATA_DIR allows ICU to find its data. An example can be found on Apple's web site: http://www.opensource.apple.com/darwinsource/Current/ICU-8.11.1/makefile ICU's User Guide also provides more detailed information about managing ICU's data, if you're interested. http://www.icu- project.org/userguide/icudata.html If you have further questions, the people on the icu-support mailing list might be able to help. http://www.icu-project.org/contacts.html -- timezone data is duplicated over at least three packages in main https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/41159 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution-data-server in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 267047] [NEW] cpufreq applet doesn't draw anything (white square) in gnome-panel
Public bug reported: Hi, When my session opens, sometimes cpufreq-applet doens't draw itself on the panel (see attachment). Left/Right button click and changing preferences (which work perfectly per se) doesn't help : at best the white square gets bigger if I choose to display "graphic and text" instead of just "graphic". Removing the applet and adding an identically configured new one to the panel is a workaround, but not acceptable for a standard user I think. On my machine this bug appears 50% of time (this is a rough estimation). Hardware info can be found at http://deep-ocean.net/files/sony/ I'm on up-to-date intrepid, and this behaviour as been seen from alpha 4, when I joined the lucky-alpha-debuggers because my video card was not supported under hardy ;-) My WM is compiz. If I switch to metacity (System→Preferences→Appearance → No effects), the white square turns into a transparent one : applet is stills here (i can click, change governor, etc), but invisible. If I switch back to compiz, the applet stays transparent. ** Affects: gnome-applets (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- cpufreq applet doesn't draw anything (white square) in gnome-panel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/267047 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-applets in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 267090] Re: Keyring badly integrated in intrepid
I use autologin (marked the checkbox during installation). The first time I tried to connect to my wireless network, the keyring asked me to set a password for it. Now after every reboot, I am asked for my password because networkmanager wants to use the keyring. Perhaps this is due to the new automatic login option in ubiquity not setting things up properly? ** Changed in: gnome-keyring (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- Keyring badly integrated in intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/267090 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
