I guess this bug has technically be fixed, but as it hasn't been marked as such
(and closed), I hope it's ok to 'reuse' this bug to request 2.4.122 which is
needed for wlroots 0.18?

Bug#1076729: libwayland: breaks plasma desktop start after last upgrade to version 1.23.0-1 also sddm

2024-07-23 Thread Hendrik Lehmbruch
Package: libwayland-server0/-client0/-cursor0
Version: 1.22.0-2.1+b1
Followup-For: Bug #1076729
X-Debbugs-Cc: hlehmbr...@gmx.net

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***
On full-upgrading Debian sid/trixi

libwayland-server0/-client0/-cursor0 let sddm crash with segfault and plasma-
desktop!

I do not know which of one that 3 libwayland-* libraries is causing that issue

apt list --upgradable
libwayland-client0/unstable,buildd-unstable 1.23.0-1 amd64 [upgradable from:
1.22.0-2.1+b1]
libwayland-cursor0/unstable,buildd-unstable 1.23.0-1 amd64 [upgradable from:
1.22.0-2.1+b1]
libwayland-server0/unstable,buildd-unstable 1.23.0-1 amd64 [upgradable from:
1.22.0-2.1+b1]

After upgrading I got that segfault:

Jul 22 18:55:49 hhl-2 kernel: sddm-greeter[1727]:
segfault at 8 ip 7fa692a05bdd sp 7ffd909a7330 error 4 in
libQt5WaylandClient.so.5.15.13[97bdd,7fa6929d2000+a1000]
likely on CPU 1 (core 1, socket 0)

A downgrade fixed it!

Bug#1076825: mesa: new upstream rc 24.2.0~rc1 is likely to need NEW processing

2024-07-23 Thread Simon McVittie
Source: mesa
Version: 24.1.3-2
Severity: wishlist
Tags: trixie sid patch

A new upstream release candidate is available, 24.2.0~rc1.

This adds a new private library libgallium.so which is a new dependency
for libGLX_mesa.so.0, libEGL_mesa.so.0 and libgbm.so.1, and therefore
is likely to need a new binary package and NEW processing. It would
probably be useful to get an experimental upload of this into the queue
before it becomes time-sensitive.

I needed this version for a work project, so I did some draft packaging
where libgallium.so is a new binary package mesa-libgallium,
which libglx-mesa0, libegl-mesa0 and libgbm1 all depend on. Please see

which has more information about the handling and potential future changes
of libgallium. The name "mesa-libgallium" is a matter of taste, please
feel free to change it if something else seems more appropriate.

The Mesa maintainers are welcome to make use of the referenced branch in
my MR if it would be useful to you.

Thanks,
smcv

Bug#1076729: shm: implement version 2

2024-07-23 Thread cybaer42
There are some discussions on asahi debian channels. Probably this patch
may be for interest:

https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/wayland/wayland/-/commit/fd42f70bafa26fcf6f39f034b581b35838be71aa#dfa7e263de2df8692cfc4840487e05c82dbf7ec0_418_424

This made problems in fedora some weeks ago.

Bug#1076729: libwayland: breaks plasma desktop start after last upgrade to version 1.23.0-1

X-Debbugs-Cc: antde...@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,
after updating the packages:
- libwayland-bin
- libwayland-client0
- libwayland-cursor0
- libwayland-dev
- libwayland-egl1
- libwayland-server0
from version 1.22.0-2.1+b1 -> 1.23.0-1, reboot and entering the credentials on
sddm for login, plasmashell no longer starts and the system remains frozen with
only the mouse cursor visible, it is not possible to interrupt cleanly but you
need to reboot.
Downgrading these packages to previous version, everything works again, so I
put these packages in hold, waiting to resolve.

Can confirm.

Bumping the issue to RC so users are informed before the upgrade and the
faulty package doesn't migrate to testing. Also reassigning to a more
appropriate package and fixing the version (1.22.0-2.1+b1 is explicitly
not affected).

Michael
