You are right to being cautious :) But you can download through https with https://people.debian.org/~sthibault/tmp/mini.iso to make sure that it is coming from the people.debian.org domain, which only Debian Developers like myself can put data on. And Debian Developers can already upload anything to the Debian archive, see for instance your /usr/share/doc/libc6/changelog.Debian.gz to see that you are already using packages that I have uploaded to Debian. I have signed this mail, for good measure. > > "This bug report is unlikely to be actionable unless you specify > > *exactly* which model of computer you are using. Depending on the laptop brand and manufacture, making the touchpad work will vary. On my XPS13, it is connected through i2c to a PCI intel lpss card. On another laptop, exactly the same model of touchpad could be connected another way, thus requiring another driver. Samuel signature.asc Description: PGP signature

"Dinar, could you try the image from http://people.debian.org/~sthibault/tmp/mini.iso to see whether it helps? " i have downloaded it but then become afraid , that malware may be there. (even if i remove hdd, firmware can be infected). maybe i will/would do it, when/if i read some amount of information about you. "This bug report is unlikely to be actionable unless you specify *exactly* which model of computer you are using. There are literally hundreds of different touchpad devices out there." i was going to write exact laptop model, but i became afraid that this information can help somebody to infect my laptop's firmwares. and seems that info is not useful to know out exact touchpad model.
