Bug#765370: xutils-dev: fix CCOPTIONS/LDOPTIONS causing FTBFS on sciplot on ppc64el [PATCH]

2015-12-07 Thread Fernando Seiti Furusato
Hello, Julien.

I see that at least sciplot is failing to build due to the usage of
Imake's
-mminimal-toc flag.
Are you planning to apply Mauricio's patch?

I ask because there might be possible to workaround on sciplot, if you
decide not to use the patch on this report.
In which case, I might send a patch to sciplot.

Thanks and regards.

Fernando

I think the patch should be sent/discussed upstream
(xorg-de...@lists.x.org) first. The relevant repo is
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/util/cf/ and guidelines at
http://www.x.org/wiki/Development/Documentation/SubmittingPatches/

Please don't do that.

OK. Why not? Both the original report and the follow up comment seemed
to indicate that it could be the nouveau driver.

Should I instead close the bug report and point the reporter to the usual
Debian support options to provide more substanciated report?

I would be happy to have your advice along with the reasoning behind it.

Thanks Julien,

Yes, closing such a report is better, since as it is it's essentially
void of any useful information. Not to mention 1) a kernel panic is not
a userspace bug, and 2) the reassign message provided no
context/information for the receiving party.

Cheers,
Julien
