Bug#665004: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics: scrolling stopped working after upgrade 1.5.0 --> 1.5.99

2012-04-03 Thread Dario Alessio Menin
I've found a partial workaround (the old version still behaves better), I
don't know if it could be useful to find the problem: In KDE System
Settings -> Input Devices -> Touchpad -> scrolling -> Move distance to
scroll a single line -> set to 25-30. On my machine the touchpad returned
partially functional, scrolling at a slow speed remains very difficult.

thanks for your investigation. It's apparently the following upstream
bug (server bug in EXA):
  https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47266

If you want to test the patch in comment#47, see comment#48:

Apologies, had seen this one but it didn't register this was the same bug.
I downgraded libcairo2 to testing which fixed the problem.

+Subject: [PATCH] Use touch state when querying pointer through core protocol
+
+QueryPointer is part of the core protocol. As such, it knows nothing
+about touch devices. Touches are converted to button 1 press, pointer
+motion, and button 1 release for core clients, so we should ensure the
+pointer state mask has button 1 set when XQueryPointer is used.

Bug#636135: Confirmed, modesetting-specific

2012-04-03 Thread Filipus Klutiero

tags 636135 + confirmed
thanks

Human memory is so weak. After working around this in my previous
install, I had already completely forgotten about the bug and just spent
about an hour debugging it...

Re-applying the workaround worked, however the new kdmrc is very
different and doesn't contain TerminateServer anymore, so I had to
proceed as others said, adding "TerminateServer=true" in the [X-:*-Core]
section (line 59).

I noticed that this only happens with modesetting. The problem does not
happen when Linux is booted with radeon.modeset=0.

With this patch, there are a few labels on the screen that read "Matrix"
instead of whatever information they are supposed to show. By default,
xkeystone shows only a white screen and outputs these error messages for me:

With my patch, those problems go away, but of course it is not an
optimal solution. Best would be to catch the mutex exception and
handle it properly.
