Indeed, looks like a kernel (or possibly BIOS) PCI failure. Bug#641343: [xserver-xorg-video-radeon] Please revise firmware suggestion
Package: xserver-xorg-video-radeon Version: 1:6.14.2-1 Severity: wishlist On a note related to #576229, it would be nice to clarify the suggestion of firmware on two points: 1. The current suggestion is on firmware-linux, which is a metapackage depending on firmware-linux-free and firmware-linux-nonfree. I can't see how firmware-linux-free would help radeon, so it would be clearer to suggest firmware-linux-nonfree directly. 2. There is no explanation of how the firmware improves radeon. It would be nice to add an explanation to the extended description. --- System information. --- Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.0.0-1-686-pae Debian Release: wheezy/sid 990 testing security.debian.org 990 testing ftp.ca.debian.org 500 unstable ftp.ca.debian.org 1 experimental ftp.ca.debian.org --- Package information. --- Depends (Version) | Installed ===-+-== libc6 (>= 2.7) | 2.13-18 libdrm-radeon1 (>= 2.4.17) | 2.4.26-1 libdrm2 (>= 2.4.25) | 2.4.26-1 libpciaccess0 (>= 0.10.2) | 0.12.1-1 libpixman-1-0 | 0.22.2-1 libudev0 (>= 146) | 172-1 xorg-video-abi-10 | xserver-xorg-core (>= 2:1.9.99.903) | 2:1.10.4-1 Package's Recommends field is empty. Tomi, can you check if a newer kernel fixes this, or if there are BIOS updates available for your machine?
