Bug#640699: keyboard problem with xserver xfbdev: why does it not work?

2011-09-06 Thread pasquale_frega

package: xserver-xfbdev
version: 2:1.7.7-13

I have installed on my small laptop xfbdev xserver, because the xorg xserver
does not work on my system. I have changed the link /usr/bin/X to
/usr/bin/Xfbdev (the same /etc/X11/X to /usr/bin/Xfbdev) then i have edit
the /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc script just including the following:

exec /usr/bin/X -screen 800x600x16 -mouse ps2 -keybd keyboard -nolisten tcp "$@"

When server start, all works good but no keyboard, just i see on screen the
following message:

"DRIVER LINUX CONSOLE KEYBOARD WANTED"

What does mean it? Does it want a package to work properly?
Wich package?
I have tried also to start it with my keyboard driver (i think):

exec /usr/bin/X -screen 800x600x16 -mouse ps2 -keybd pc102 -nolisten tcp "$@"

but i was not able to resolve the question.

I use Debian Squeeze with generic 2.6-i686 kernel on a small laptop
panasonic CF-M34 with 4mb video ram and svga screen.

What about trying to debug this issue instead of doing strange things
with xfbdev?

2011-09-06 Thread pasquale_frega
I have already send a bug report about xserver-xorg with my second email
address; however i have not received solution so, i think, it is a bug
hardly to resolve. About xserver-xfbdev, i want only to know wich package

it need or wich driver i must load to make working my keyboard.
Xfbdev may be yet useful so, i think, this info may be important.

Xfbdev is unmaintained, you're really better off using Xorg.

Cheers,

Bug#640699: keyboard problem with xserver xfbdev: why does it not work?

2011-09-06 Thread pasquale_frega
Xorg does not work on my system, it does crash on exit; i am not able to
know the cause. The screen make black, i am not able to change session
(by ctrl+alt+f1-f6), to kill it (by ctrl+alt+space), the only way is
to reboot the system by pressing ctrl+alt+del. I have only "4mb video ram"
but i use a very minimal desktop enviroment (a file manager called tkdesk
and xterm) so this should not be the main cause.
Why does it crash?

Bug#596781: xserver-xorg-video-intel window corruption bug: what's the status?

2011-09-06 Thread Francesco Poli
Hello all,
what's the status of this bug?

It has been forwarded upstream and fixed upstream.
If I understand
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30528
correctly, commit e0066e77e026b0dd0daa0c3765473c7d63aa6753
fixes the bug in the upstream code.

But has this commit already landed on Debian?
It seems to me that this commit is already included in the latest
unstable version (xserver-xorg-video-intel/2:2.16.0-1):
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-xorg%2Fdriver%2Fxserver-xorg-video-intel.git&a=search&h=HEAD&st=commit&s=Simplify+Composite

Is that confirmed?

More importantly, can someone confirm that the bug is really fixed in
xserver-xorg-video-intel/2:2.16.0-1 ?

Thanks for your time.

Hello,
I still have xserver-xorg-video-intel pinned to version 2:2.14.0-4 due
to this bug.

Has someone tried to reproduce it?
Was it forwarded upstream?
Was it fixed?

Please help!
Thanks a lot for your time.
