Bug#622606: xserver-xorg-video-r128: [regression] [powerpc] X dies with SIGBUS if I tell it "UseFBDev" "false"
X-Debbugs-CC: debian-powe...@lists.debian.org Package: xserver-xorg-video-r128 Version: 6.8.1-5 Severity: important Hi there. This is a PowerPC (iBook G3), with a R128 video card and with a very recent kernel (2.6.38), all from Debian, none compiled by me. As per bug #484015 (see my comments there), I have to provide an xorg.conf file or I get a completely screwed X. When I use the file attached below by the bug script, I get a SIGBUS when I tell the X server that I want to disable UseFBDev. This is a regression of, at least, version 1:6.8.0-1 of the driver. I am attaching the last log from X here. If any further information is desired, please let me know. Bug#621815: metacity and openbox both running
Hi, Tapio Lehtonen (13/04/2011): > So both metacity and openbox are running. I suspect this is the root > cause for excessive CPU usage. interesting. You should just have a single window manager; so here's a wild guess: openbox fails to notice there's one running already, and loops over and over again, trying to access some resource. And that busy loop eats up all your CPU. You could try attaching it with strace, and see what it tries to do: strace -p $(pidof openbox) That could lead to false alarms though; since even a window manager which started fine will wait for incoming events as well. In any case, one of your WM should notice there's another one running, and bail out. So I'd recommend reassigning this bug there. KiBi. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Not sure if this is not seem deep interaction issue with multiple clients sharing the GPU or just with compiz, but for now we have to revert and suffer the inane performance hit. Bug#622661: xserver-xorg-video-vesa: vesa video driver changes the number of screen lines from 28 to 25
Package: xserver-xorg-video-vesa Version: 1:2.3.0-5 Severity: normal The vesa video driver causes the consoles (/dev/tty? on a laptop) to show only 25 lines instead of the orignal 28. This situation can not be corrected with "reset" or "stty $STTY", where STTY is from "stty -g" at the start of a session (login). One must execute "/etc/init.d/console-screen.sh reload" (as user root) to correct the situation. Bug#622308: Looks like this bug affects me too
I experience random text corruptions after upgrading to 2.6.38 kernel. Rebooting back to 2.6.37 helps to get rid of the problem, so I didn't hurry to report it. Among submitted reports on text corruption this one looks the closest to mine, so I'll post my message here. I use Debian sid, kernel 2.6.38-2-686, xserver-xorg-video-intel version is 2:2.14.902-1 My graphics card is, according to lspci: 00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) Corruptions happen randomly, more frequently in firefox (they are easiest to catch, that's why they are on attached screenshots), but also at almost any other application: I've seen corrupted text in sonata, transmission, nautilus. There are no compiz or any other compositing manager running on my laptop, 3d works fine. If there is any additional info needed, feel free to ask <><>
Bug#622299: Corrupt GL rendering with KMS (r300) enabled on IA-64 platform (Itanium)
Hi Michel, > The r300g driver shipped in current libgl1-mesa-dri only works with KMS, > so with that disabled, you're probably getting software rendering. I should have noticed it earlier! You're right, GL rendering with libgl1-mesa-dri 7.7.1-4 is done through r300c driver, whereas it's done through r300g with libgl1-mesa-dri 7.10-4. Checked with glxinfo on my system. > If you can build and test upstream Mesa Git, it would be great to know > if the problem persists there with the r300g driver and still doesn't > affect the classic r300 driver. OK, I'll try it. Is this howto (http://pkg-xorg.alioth.debian.org/howto/build-mesa.html) a good starting point? Bug#622707: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics: touchpad wrongly detected as multitouch leads to sync problems
Package: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics Version: 1.4.0-1 Severity: important I have been having serious issues with my synaptics touchpad with version 1.4.0, causing severe disruptions and lagging. Xorg.log shows several errors that I had been dismissing, until upon looking carefully I saw my touchpad is being detected as multitouch, but this can't be!, my laptop is over 6 years old. X kept probing without success for a synaptics multitouch touchpad. This was directly related to the Kernel throwing the below debug messages. I didn't know how to block synaptics from detecting the wrong touchpad, so I simply decided to uninstall the xserver-xorg-input-synaptics package and now my touchpad is working correctly without losing sync. Touchpad works fine when X detects it as ImPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad. But fails terribly with SynPS/2 or PS/2 Apr 10 23:55:17 debturion kernel: [ 204.009286] psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost sync at byte 4 Apr 10 23:55:17 debturion kernel: [ 204.010682] psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost sync at byte 1 Apr 10 23:55:17 debturion kernel: [ 204.020567] psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio4/input0 - driver resynched. Bug#622299: Corrupt GL rendering with KMS (r300) enabled on IA-64 platform (Itanium)
Hi, Just finished recompiling mesa git following this guide http://pkg-xorg.alioth.debian.org/howto/build-mesa.html. Everything ran as described, except for the last section (I'm getting no libEGL debug messages with glxgears).
